Disappointing first visit. Waited in line (8 mins) to order and then 25 mins to get my coffee. I ordered an iced cafe miel. Sad to say it was not good, perhaps I won't get my fav drink in its iced version? Mostly tasted like milk. No sweet hint from the honey and couldn't really taste much of the espresso. Only had two sips and tossed it out. I'll probably give it another shot later on since there are so many good reviews on it. read more

I am and have always been a huge fan of Jones Coffee. I've been to a few of their locations (My favorite being their Chaska location), but the Southwest Minneapolis one did not disappoint. It's the perfect place to chill, get some work done, or just sip on really good coffee. Not to mention the staff are always so friendly. I stopped in to check out their seasonal menu, but ended up ordering my usual Brown Sugar & Spice Latte and topped it with their new cheesecake cold foam. Total game changer, and you should seriously try it out. I also grabbed their new California-style breakfast burrito, and I'm really hoping it becomes a permanent item since the avocado takes it to another level. Stopped here to grab coffee before heading to work. Not sure if it's a single staff person every morning but they for sure need a few more baristas for the morning rush. There were 3 people ahead of me in line plus a few customers waiting at tables for orders. I will say the barista was working hard at getting the drinks out as fast as he could. Very efficient. Once I seen that they serve food (light bites but still needing prep) I was hesitant to stay in line out of fear that one of the people would order something and I'd be late for work waiting but glad I stayed (even though I was still pushing it). They also take online orders btw. So probably not idea if you are in a time crunch. I ordered the oat milk matcha latte and a vanilla latte and used my coffee compass for bogo free deal. Both drinks were good and the price wasn't too bad. The summer drink menu was mostly coconut themed - almost every drink. If you love coconut you should check it out. The overall vibe was chill. Liked the music playing- wasn't too loud. Plenty of seating and even a smaller patio out back. Parking can be challenging in this area as the streets are pretty busy and single lane. read more

I visited the Jones Coffee in Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis. I'll start by saying the only reason for a 4-star, and not the fault of the shop itself, is the location is in the heart of construction at the current moment. I was looking for a quiet place to work and enjoy the coffee outdoors, it was a little tougher with everything going on so the ambiance wasn't as spectacular with all the noise. Again, and I stress, not controlled by the shop itself. Inside, the little coffee shop has some great seating areas, although smaller and a little more narrow, there was still plenty of room for the folks visiting on a steady Wednesday. The coffee... that's was really tasty! I ordered their signature hot mocha with vanilla and it tasted wonderful. I love when a small coffee shop enjoys making the foam design on top. We complimented the barista on her artwork and she smiled and expressed that was her favorite part of the coffee. The staff was quick and friendly with the orders. This was a really nice place and very close to the Minneapolis lakes area. The perfect spot, especially when all the construction equipment moves out. I'd still recommend trying it out!! read more

I drank their creme cheese cold brew and tried the brown sugar and spice latte. Solid drink, the cold brew wasn't super bitter from the coffee and the cold foam was not super sweet. The brown sugar and spice latte was good, again not super sweet. There is plenty of seating and it's a large space to work or even relax with a group. Cafe and roastery on a super busy intersection in Fulton. Their space is pretty nice, but minimalistic. Lots of seating and nice amount of natural light. It's a decent place to get work done early but fills up around lunch and can get pretty loud. The baristas have been very friendly and helpful. I prefer the Upton & 42nd location but this one is nice if you're in the area. Lots of thrift stores and some food nearby. Their coffee is always pretty good but their beans are crazy expensive. I'm a big fan of their winter roasts and the South American beans. Always a great chocolate flavor. They've got a new-ish lunch and dinner menu that I've been meaning to try but just haven't gotten around to it when I don't have other plans. In addition they carry some pastries, gluten-free and regular, from local bakeries like Sift and 2 Daughters. My main complaint is that they don't have an option for free water; sparkling or still. Subjectively, a shot of espresso needs some sparkling water to prep/clean your tongue for full effect but even having just a tap would be nice. Seems like they want you to spend $6 on bottled. Which is ironic given how proud they are of the, objectively fantastic, Good-to-Go reusable cup program. I prefer their Linden Hills location (they have water and it's closer to me) but there are a ton of worth options in the area. I think I'd still go to Folly, Cafe Ceres, The Lynhall, Sparrow Cafe, or Honey & Rye if you just want to hang , drink some coffee and get some work done. read more

Some offer delicious coffee, but the staff behind the counter is either jaded (you feel like you're bothering them when you order a simple black coffee) or downright rude (this often happens at trendy spots). Others have a super-friendly team, but the coffee quality isn't great. And then there's Jones Coffee. We've tried the one on Fulton (on Xerxes) a few times, and it's a great place: really good coffee, the staff is super friendly, and the vibe is low-key and cozy. Big thumbs up! Great service! The man at the counter recommended the chocolate chip banana bread because it is his favorite and the most popular. I'm glad I got it :) They definitely didn't skimp on the chocolate chips! I would for sure get it again, or try the cinnamon coffee cake muffin, which he also recommended! I have been coming to this coffee shop for years- both Jones and Dunn bros. I used to frequent every week maybe multiple times a week. But the service has become unbearably slow. With two small children and sometimes a dog it is extremely hard to wait for an Americano for 20mins and a breakfast sandwich for over 40mins. This past Sunday I waited for 45 minutes and then was told they didn't even have the order even though I was charged. I don't think it is the people working there but they NEED to have more staff especially on weekends. This is a high traffic area and you can't offer food as well as a vast coffee menu with two people working. read more

I've been coming to Jones Coffee (nee Dunn Brothers) for years, so I feel like I have meaningful feedback. The number one selling point is location -- it's perfect for the neighborhood and a great spot to work or meet a friend. A close second is the staff -- always helpful, kind and at least one (David) is a published writer and always has a good book recommendation. Sadly, the changes since the new ownership took over are mostly not great. 1) THere is not true "large" cup of coffee. You'll get a medium. And it has fewer shots than the old large cup of coffee, so you'll need to order an extra shot (in my case, in an Americano) to get a decent cup of coffee--this will cost you over $5 for a medium cup of coffee. Nuts. 2) Baked Goods: They've moved to a local vendor (great!) and the quality is hit and miss and anything that is from the day before is NOT GOOD. Today there's a flat, standard chocolate chip cookie 2 inches in diameter selling for $3. THat's about $1 a bite. Insane. The almond croissants are very good -- but again, only if you get them within 8 hours of delivery. THere has been a "chocolate croissant" on the menu for some time that is not chocolate at all -- it's some sort of Nutella-esque nonsense. Abomination. PLEASE call it what it is or, better yet, get a true chocolate croissant. So, come for the nice staff, a decent but expensive cup of coffee (order an extra shot) and sunny, open space. My fondest hope is that they re-tool their coffee sizes and number of shots and get a new bakery vendor and never include day-old baked goods in the cabinet.
