This has quickly become one of my favorite coffee spots in the Twin Cities. I love Vietnamese coffee, and Caphin does it exceptionally well. Easily some of the best I've had. They're also part of the Coffee Passport from 16oz Days, which is a fun bonus since you can get a BOGO stamp while trying something new. The drink menu is creative and everything I've tried has been fantastic. So far I've had the Ube Dream, the Egg Coffee (Cà Phê Trứng), and the Strawberry Matcha. All of them were amazing, but the egg coffee is my personal favorite. It's incredibly creamy, unique, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. They also have a great selection of pastries, including gluten free options. The shop itself is on the smaller side and located in a strip mall with a decent amount of parking. Because it's cozy, seating can fill up quickly during busy times, so don't be surprised if it's standing room only when you walk in. Their mobile ordering system is also super convenient. The staff is always friendly and happy to give recommendations, which makes the experience even better. Definitely a must visit if you love Vietnamese coffee. read more

Decided to stop here on a lazy Saturday afternoon and had no regrets! This place is located in a strip mall with a fair amount of parking. This is a smaller establishment, so don't be surprised if when you come in, there isn't a place to sit during peak times! This place is dog friendly! Yes, you can bring your dog inside! With that being said, please be respectful. We saw some adorable well behaved doggies! We also saw one that was barking and growling. You know your dog, make the right choice... The decor inside this place is so cute! Floral and modern! Very cozy! There a plug in's next to the green couch and brown chairs. Not sure about anywhere else. Stopped in mid Saturday morning after a yoga class next door. It was busy but the line to order moved fast. I was excited to try this place out since I always love coffee shops that incorporate Asian flavors. We came on a Friday morning and we thankfully managed to grab a table because it got pretty busy. My partner wanted to get some work done on his laptop and it seems like only the two tables right when you walk in are in course proximity to the outlets. There's free wifi and two bathrooms it's definitely a good place to hang out for a while or just catch up with a friend. I got the Ube Dream, which I really enjoyed. Yesterday I met a friend for coffee and it was awesome to see how busy this place was! We were lucky to get a table and then ordered our drinks. I got a banana latte and it was sooooo amazing! I'm a little late to the Càphin hype but finally made it here on a recent Wednesday morning. The shop is located in kind of a random spot in my opinion, a little strip mall on France Ave. Inside the space is small and super bright in a nice way. There are a small amount of tables and chairs that look nice for anyone working out of the shop. There is also a small couch and a couple more comfortable chairs. There was plenty of room when I was there but I bet it fills fast on a busy morning. Now the important part the coffee. I'm not the best judge of Vietnamese coffee as I'm more of a light coffee guy and a purist who normally opts for plain black coffee. Here I got the 'egg coffee' which was dark coffee topped with a creamy custardy mixture of egg, sweet and condensed milk and spices. The topping was great! The coffee itself was lacking in my opinion, but I'm out of touch with dark roast coffee these days. I also grabbed the Pandan Latte which was a flavor I've never tried before. Green like matcha but much better tasting in my opinion. If you like flavored lattes I'd get this. I want to come back and try the Vietnamese version of a pour over next time ! read more

Visiting from the Bay Area and was so excited to find Vietnamese coffee spot. The ambiance was so beautiful inside. So pleasing and looks like a great place to study and/or hangout at. The drinks are pretty yummy. I tried their seasonal banana latte and their classic. The classic is a regular Vietnamese coffee, not sweet and very much like a regular Vietnamese coffee. Their banana latte was yummy though! It had a banana coconut foam on top and I do not like coconut but you couldn't taste it. I think I could have gotten a little stronger with the coffee flavor as I am more coffee forward and I love me a good, strong coffee. Service was kind and friendly, answered all our questions. You can tell the Southeast Asian wannabe cafes from the real Southeast Asian cafes by their pandan syrup. Caphin has the real deal. You wouldn't expect to find Caphin nestled in an enclave of shops in the middle of nowhere, and you wouldn't expect so many people of all walks of life to make their way here. Half of the time my partner and I looked, there was a line. Service was efficient and friendly, satisfying the constant demand. I've had a few pandan lattes in my life and Caphin beats them all by a landslide. This pandan latte was equal parts espresso and pandan syrup, no one component overwhelming the other. There is a clear floral undertone that is distinctive to pandan. Outside the perfect flavor profile, they give the just the right portion size leaving you sufficiently caffeinated. I rave about the pandan latte more because it's harder to get right, but the coconut coffee special is also a fan favorite which we saw many people enjoy. My partner subbed the coffee for matcha and it was phenomenal. Not too sweet and tasted of fresh coconut and matcha. While some people took their drinks to go, just as many stayed and enjoyed the calm modern interior of the cafe. And there's no rush because they have multiple tables and two bathrooms to accommodate guests. My partner and I were so happy with our drinks and the vibes that we both got another one of our respective drinks and stayed a little longer than we would've expected. No wonder Caphin is so highly rated in Minneapolis. They deserve their flowers. read more

My favorite drink is the strawberry matcha, I love that it's not overly sweet & the strawberry puree isn't super thick! I also like that they have monthly featured drinks. Stopped into Caphin Mpls before my Sunday afternoon plans. I've heard a lot about this spot, so l decided to make it my second new coffee shop of 2026. It's a bit of a distance from my house, but I appreciated the shared parking lot with other businesses. Stress free and easy parking is always a win in my book. Ummm, this place was packed to the point it felt like you were standing on the person in front of you. People everywhere and a lengthy line which is a true show to how popular this place is. The wait was about 10 minutes before I was able to get up to the counter to order, but the gentleman helping me was friendly and welcoming. For my caffeine of the day, I ordered the Caphe Muoi (16 oz) which is only available as an iced bev. My coffee took about 10 minutes to come up. It had a nice strong flavor and not sweet. It was guaranteed to keep me buzzing all day. The cookies and pastries were staring and tempting me while I waited in line, but decided I needed to have an actual meal and maybe get something next visit. It's a small spot. Time: May 2025 Place: Located in a strip mall of other vendors, there is a shared lot for free parking. The interior is modern and clean, making it a welcoming place to spend time in. They maximized the seating options with the limited space they had (one large table, one small circle seating, several small tables with bench seating on one side, and window counter seating). Staff were friendly, although order took a while to prepare. Food: Banh mi: I was incredibly surprised by how good it was! They only served the classic toppings banh mi, and the Vietnamese butter/mayo they used was delectable. It tasted like a well made, traditional banh mi, I would get this again! Ca phe trung (egg coffee): The coffee tasted slightly over roasted, which was disappointing as Vietnamese coffee is supposed to be one of the more aromatic coffees. The egg creme was a bit thicker than what I've had before, but the taste was good; the texture just made it harder to sip or mix. Oddly enough, I was able to smell/taste the water they used to make the ice (slightly metallic), which threw me off from enjoying the drink as well. Overall, I have been looking forward to trying this place for a while, but I was slightly disappointed. There has been a recent influx of Vietnamese cafes in MN, and I have been able to taste better drinks elsewhere. I do appreciate the additional offerings of pastries and bahn mi though. Caphin is a one of a kind cafe in the Twin Cities offering authentic Asian flavors. My review will separate food/drink and service. 5/5 The drink menu is delightful. The ube and pandan are delicious and true to taste and the fruity drinks are made with house made real fruit syrups, not artificial syrups, which I LOVE! I'm a big fan of the mango matcha however do be warned that drinks are on the sweeter side. Pastries are supplied by local shops including Cardigan Donuts which makes me super happy. Overall prices are very reasonable for the quality. 2/5 Service is mixed. I always have a great experience with the cashiers (super knowledgeable and kind) but baristas are hit or miss. I ordered two drinks with no ice and one was not full, defeating the purpose of ordering a large. I understand if a no ice drink isn't filled to the top, but I don't get why my two drinks have drastically different liquid levels. The store also uses milk containers as carriers which is a great idea in theory, but mine had milk left in it and it made a mess. I needed to get some work done so I stopped in Sunday morning. I had a lovely morning here, I enjoyed a Caphe Muoi and a pear scone. I love Vietnamese iced coffee so it was nice to have a fun twist on a delicious classic! The environment is warm and friendly, the shop is small but it has large windows and great lighting. There is a decent amount of seating, strong WiFi and clean single stall bathrooms. There is a large free parking lot right in front of the shop. My drink came out and it was tasty and aesthetically pleasing. There was light music playing and typical coffee shop chatter. My friends got the monthly special, tiramisu latte, and it was so good they ended up ordering another one to take for the road. Really great coffee! Maybe the best I've had in a coffee shop in the US! Vietnamese-style coffee is very distinctive, and apparently it's really strong and intense, but not overwhelming. I've had a few of their coffee drinks now, and as someone who likes something sweet and hot and milky, I've never been disappointed. This last time I came, my friend wanted straight black coffee, and I wanted the "dine-in experience", which is the same thing except that you watch it filter in front of you, and mix in some sweetened condensed milk to your preference. We both really loved this, and I will 100% be getting that again. Another in our party got a simple oolong tea with some oat milk and it was honestly excellent as well. They have many other unique coffee offerings that I'm excited to try! The service is really friendly and the space is modern and beautifully decorated. The community has discovered how good they are, and as such they have been very busy when I've come in during weekend mornings, but it slows down a little later. Even if you come when it's busy, it's worth the wait, but seating is hard to come by at that time. Serious coffee enthusiasts absolutely must make a point to come in. Bring someone you want to spend time with, get the dine-in experience, and savor those slow-drip minutes, that's what i recommend. read more

They have a great selection of coffee, and I love the specialty drinks that change every month (the owner said she enjoys drawing flavors from childhood favorites). I've had their lovely pandan latte, so I took the owner's recommendation and tried the month's special (Oct, 2024): ca phe kem chuõi (banana latte). The banana flavor was light and fresh like they used actual bananas! The shop itself is cozy, and a great place to do some computer work or meet up with a friend. Overpriced. Overhyped. It's in a busy area, parking is a pain in the ass, and the cafe is always so busy that you end up lurking and waiting for a table to open. It's not quite the relaxing atmosphere I look for in a coffee shop, but good for them for keeping the place packed. Service is good, they're friendly enough and get orders out at a reasonable time.
