The namesake pierogies were tasty and satisfying

I decided to try iPierogi at the Aquatennial celebration. The huge line and the fact that the staff spoke to each other in Polish were encouraging signs. By the time I got to the front of the line, they unfortunately had run out of Polish sausages. They said this was their first time at an event like this, so they might've underestimated the demand a bit! But I still got to try the namesake pierogies, which were delicious and filling. I'm glad this new food truck is coming onto the scene, and I wish them all the best. Check out iPierogi yourself, next time you see them out and about.

With a Polish family, we started making our own pierogis - but when iPierogi food truck rolled into town, I couldn't turn down the opportunity to bring home some authentic Polish Pierogis! I ordered the meat perogis, the cheese and potato pierogis, and the cabbage roll. They were all very tasty - but the unanimous favorite (myself, my wife, and my two daughters) was the cheese and potato pierogis and the cabbage roll! Would I order from these folks again? Yes. Yes I would! Thanks for coming out to Jordan!

We shared the pretzel sticks. I don't think they need the butter on top because we all ended up cutting the pieces to dip into the mustard and beer cheese. Husband had a brat and while this might be legit, we prefer the brats we cook at home that have more texture. He said the sauerkraut was great. Our daughter did the walleye bites. Good, not great. That said, I think it is hard to beat many of the local walleye options in the area. Will go again and try some other items on the menu. Will still drop in just to a beer with a friend and catchup,

Atmosphere is pretty much al your standard pub. Wood panel, tchotchke on the walls, high and low tops with a long bar. Prices are on par with most places. Service was ok. We were the only ones there at 4 on a weekday and it took 30 minutes to get our first drinks. We grabbed a pretzel and Mediterranean plate for the table. The pretzel was solid. Huge, warm, and really soft but definitely not Bavarian style if that's what you're after. More the kind you get at New Bohemia with less crust or chew. The Mediterranean platter was pretty disappointing for $14 but that's on me. What did I expect from a German sausage bar? I'd go back because I'm a fiend for pretzels and want to try their fish fry but I think it dropped a bit in priority

The martinis are to die for, and everything is very reasonably priced for the quality. They make their own vodka, which is such a cool touch, and it's definitely worth trying a few of the different flavors. The horseradish vodka martini was surprisingly really good. Service wasn't overly warm, but still friendly and attentive enough throughout the meal. The atmosphere is great, and the patio is easily one of my favorites in the area. Such a good spot to sit and enjoy a drink, especially in the warmer months. There is plenty of street parking around which makes it a super easy experience.

The inside is dark and dated but it was a nice day and we grabbed a table on the patio, which was lovely and spacious! The menu is very nostalgic and offers many favorites from the former Soviet Union that I grew up eating. I wanted to try something I don't normally eat at a family gathering. I got the vereniki (filled with potato and onions - more commonly known as peorogi) smothered in a mushroom cream sauce, topped with steak and onion straws. It was delicious and super hearty; not something I could eat very often. I also got a Moscow mule but was a bit bummed at how weak it was and the fact that it wasn't served in the traditional copper cup that helps keep the ice from melting and diluting the drink. I also want to point out that they added a 3.8% credit card charge (which I know is becoming more srandard), and a 20% gratuity, even though we were only a table of 5. Overall, I had a good time and enjoyed myself but not sure there is much there to bring me back anytime soon.

As I walked to the back of the restaurant and sat at the bar, I noticed the beautiful outside patio. With a waterfall feature, I noticed there was a group of older folks there and found out it was their monthly German club! The ambiance is definitely German. Lots of deep oak woodwork, a beautiful bar with gorgeous stain glass windows at the back of the bar by the register. The lights glistened off of the giant hanging glass pitchers and beer steins. The bartender and waitress that both helped me were dolls. Had great suggestions on the menu, attentive, and talkative. I started with a potato pancake. It was delicious. Served with sour cream and applesauce like God intended. It was 5.50 for 1. Initially I thought that was pricey BUT it was worth it and I'd shell out the $9 for 3 next time. Then I had the sausage sampler. It came with two pieces of warm rye bread (tasted homemade), 3 different sausage links; chicken curry, bratwurst, and polish kielbasa...made in house. Lastly a small scoop of warm German potato salad. It was all good! I'll be back. No ranch used here so no rating.

Very authentic interior design; the bar area looked like many of the pubs we'd recently been to in German and Austria. The bartender came over quickly and got my glass of halbtrocken (half-sweet) Riesling. If you're only familiar with the American-style syrup they market as Riesling, you need to check out some German wines. "Trocken" is dry, "halbtrocken" is half-sweet, "FineHerb" (a relatively new designation) means off-dry and "süß" or suss, is sweet. On to the potato pancake appetizer. It arrived quickly, nice and hot, and served with both applesauce and sour cream. However, it wasn't the coarsely shredded potatoes I am used to getting in Germany; more of a fine shred, which gave it a different mouth-feel. From there, on to the beef rouladen. It takes a little longer but also came out hot, with sides of red cabbage, a roll, and a ton of spaetzle. Tasty, though the gravy was a little saltier than I'd have preferred. And if I'd eaten all that starch, I'd still be sleeping it off in one of their booths. Their menu also includes sausage samplers and other traditional items. Why only a three? Service and food were both good but not great. I thought the food was a little pricey: $26 for ONE rouladen with sides, and $6 for a single potato pancake. Three-and-a-half stars would be more fair but Yelp! doesn't give half stars. Finally (and I'm not really deducting points for this), no one on the staff that I encountered spoke ANY German. Even my basic, "Guten tag!" when sidling up to the bar was met with a blank stare. So... authentic? The atmosphere: definitely. The food: mostly. Final verdict: OK, leaning toward good.

An accordionist went from table to table playing classics like The Beer Barrel Polka and Edelweiss as well as some unexpected classic rock faves from the likes of Tom Petty, Queen and others. When they played happy birthday the entire restaurant sang along and enthusiastically chanted "Ziggy zaggy ziggy zaggy". It was a super fun time and my mother in law was happy. Most of us ordered one of the schnitzels. The portions are quite large. My wife and I split the jagerschnitzel. I don't really like to eat meat or fried foods, but there weren't a lot of other options. (Mob rule usually determines our restaurant choices when we go out with our in-laws). I felt it was kind of chewy and the mushroom sauce over salted and sadly lacking in actual mushrooms. That said, everyone else, including my wife, loved their food. My brother-in-law, raved about the roast beef with potatoes; however, he's not exactly a foodie. Bland, salty, overcooked foods are kind of his thing. My mother-in-law had the "pork knuckles". I don't know what exactly constitutes a pork knuckle, but the portion quite large. More like a pork leg, I'd say. She complained that it was way too much food, but somehow managed to put a pretty big dent in it, still saving enough for leftovers the next day. Fortunately, I was the only judgey food snob at our table and everyone else was more than happy with what they ordered. To drink, they had the usual German beers and wine. We ordered the Gluhwein, a spicy mulled red wine that is served hot. Very traditional and really good. I would definitely recommend it. If you want to experience fun, German night out, aren't concerned about your cardiovascular health and enjoy a hearty meat and potatoes type of meal, The Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter is worth a visit.

It was huge and tasty to say the least. It was only $9.95. Great price for lunch these days. We also had to share a pretzel that came with cheese and mustard.
