We visited this local joint when looking for an after dinner drink. We initially thought it was a brewery/distillery, but it was a bar with food and a brewery feel. We watched a bit of the Twins game while they had live music on their patio. FYI - they have games along the wall opposite the bar. Very disappointed in our first experience as we've looked forward to trying this restaurant before we moved to St Charles. We were excited as Thursday was 50% off cocktails. Our evening started with us waiting for 10+ minutes to be acknowledged after we sat at a table. We ordered cocktails and the espresso martini was good and only reason they are getting 2 stars. Cheddar popovers looked sad and weren't worth $4 each. My fried chicken sandwich had a good piece of chicken, but I wasn't a fan of the sauce. I was happy they had the option to have a side salad vs fries. My guys fish n chips was really sad. Fish was frozen and over cooked (you can see in the photo) and his fries were soggy. We did order a 2nd round of drinks, but mine sat at the bar for 15mins before I flagged down our waitress (who said she was fairly new) to let her know it was sitting there. Even more frustrating as she'd been just standing in the back talking to other coworkers. On a slow night this was all unacceptable and we have marked them off our list. Server was all 5 stars. Super nice and helpful, and nice to my kids! The food was really good! It's missing a star as there's really only 2 options for mains if you don't eat beef and pork. However, the chicken they do have is incredible. I've never had a more perfectly cooked, delicious shishkabob. My husbands had the shnitzel, big huge plate. We have visited a few times in the last few years and chose the venue as the site for our wedding. Laura was fantastic to work with and help with planning. They jumped in to run our music playlist, crafted a custom cocktail and mocktail for the day, and had a great appetizer buffet going with pierogi's, cheese curds, chicken, and other things. The dough alone is everything I didn't know I needed. And the fries though! I swear there's tumeric on them, they have the most surprising and delightful seasoning. I need more places to treat their fries with this much thought. What's the best transportation to a German restaurant/taproom on a fall day? Why, bicycling in-of course! Party bonus for us was that it was their Oktoberfest celebration! We enjoyed our beverages out on their large outdoor area (so we could watch our bikes), between the giant Jenga game & the Connect 4 games. Everyone in our biking group loved the live polka band! Since it was so much fun, we came back after the bicycle ride to enjoy some delicious knockwurst and try the giant pretzel-and of course Oktoberfest BEER! Totally good!!! Found this place on Yelp last winter while sitting on the beach in Florida. Trusting the reviews I invited 7 others to join me when we all returned from our travels. Arrived early to case the joint. Attractive setting, good vibe. Sat at the bar and met Isaac. Great bartender...I knew is was going to be a good night. Isaac was friendly, efficient, great!! Amazing atmosphere, the staff and manager are all nice people. They have one of the largest selections of Bourbons and Whiskies in the Northwest region of the cities. They are also known for their Beer selection but, The food is always amazing, on Friday and Saturday evenings there's a live band. It's a usual spot for us to go. I've been looking for a Birria taco where the consume is as good as the taco itself..... and I found it here! The taco is nice and crispy, not too cheesy and the meat was super juicy and tender. On the advice of a MN native and old army buddy I was steered to the BK Tap Haus with the promise of schnitzel and German beer. We made the drive from MSP, and totally worth it! The schnitzel was cooked perfectly and amongst the best I've had (to include many meals in Europe) Beer pours were on point and the bartenders ability to ensure the head was present at it should be was nailed! Wanted to try the desert, but opted for a bourbon to end the night. Surprisingly good selection for a German place! Good variety of food, decent bar, typically seem to be under staffed. New to community, have visited 3 times and most of the time it has been decent, not giving up yet but last time was challenging. Two of us sat at bar, waited 10+ minutes before we were recognized for drink order. Eventually ordered food and it took over an hour to get a couple sandwiches. We were told our timing was bad because we ordered behind a group of 25 and 40. Not sure what we did wrong specifically but we weren't pleased. One employee said our total bill would be comped, when the bill came it included all of drinks and no food. Staff clearly does not communicate amongst the front of the house team. A tap house finally landed in Saint Michael, and it is oh SO good! This is a perfect spot to go if you want to sit and try a million beers you maybe haven't ever tried, or to eat 7 different kinds of sausages! It's truly everything Saint Michael needed. This German style bar has an open seating style, with long wooden tables so you can fit larger groups, or have a few different groups sit together and maybe even socialize! They also boast a pretty large menu with different appetizers, a great beer cheese soup, bratwursts (of course), zapiekankas and other sandwiches and a delectable cupcake platter for dessert! Like Main Street Farmer next door, the BK Tap Haus is truly special. It's well worth the drive to St. Michael. LOTS of local beers on tap so this is a craft beer lover's idea of heaven. First time we went was a slower night and towards closing. The Manager sat and talked to us for quite awhile about their food, beers and overall mission. It's essentially a big, open room with tables in the middle, a long bar and stools with counter seating along the edge. They recently put in some hi-top tables. Food is EXCEPTIONAL. Eastern European fare (Polish, German etc). Zapiekanka are open faced polish sandwiches that are to die for. Depending on your selection they're sweet, savory and/or spicy all at the same time. A soft, pillowy, salty pretzel with homemade mustard sauce goes perfect with a draft beer. Again, like MSF, which is a separate business but owned by the same people, this place is great!! read more

I had heard a rumor BK is owned or operated by the same proprietors as Main Street Farm. Regardless, they sit right next to each other, maybe making it my favorite space in the state. So much good food and libations! BK has an awesome, chill atmosphere, serving truly great beers: peanut butter porters, raspberry honey wheats, Hefeweizens, and many others. If you like German food, you'll be in for a treat. My wurst was excellent, though the German potato salad and homemade kettle chips lacked real flavor. The pickled veggies were a great healthy alternative to traditionally caloric-packed sides. I'm the same vein, their hand-battered fried pickles were fantastic. Think Willy McCoys except fuller spears. I can say definitively, having been to Germany and Austria a combined 8 visits, the sauerkraut doesn't even come close, but also that it's not bad at all either. The outdoor patio worked great for our family with an active 6 year old who wanted to move around and another child with special needs who can make a mess and often prevents us from dining out. We have tried this place four times now since moving out of the cities. Our go-tos used to be Tattersall, Young Joni, BLVD, Red cow, CoV, and we had high hopes (and expectations) for BK. First two times at BK were "okay" but not great. The staff is excellent. Space is great. Solid beer and whiskey selections. Mixed drinks were not good. Same experience the second time. We gave it a third try wanting it to be our new place so bad, and it was better - Reuben was delicious. Homemade tater tots were great. Again, mixed drinks were not good. So for the fourth time we were excited hoping the new menu would wow us, and knew to stick to beer and whiskey. Tator tots were no more, so we went with the nachos. They were fine, but cold, lacking in the toppings for the price, and took almost an hour to come to us. People next to us had been waiting forever for food too. This place could be amazing if they focused on having a few kickass cocktails that they did right and the kitchen could step it up. Have a few amazing dishes, you don't need anything else. Wifey and I had driven by this place several times but had not stopped in to give it a try. Quick scan of yelp and there were no reviews or pics...hmmmm. Just got home from a business trip and didn't feel like cooking, below zero temps outside so wanted something close to home, and believe in supporting local. So We decided to take the plunge and go for it. The food was tasty and full of flavor. They had a good selection of craft brews on tap and several different flight selections. Wasn't able to try the food because no one came to serve us! When we walked in the sign said to seat yourself but it was really busy. We stood off to the side until a group told us they were leaving and said they could take their spot. We waited for twenty minutes and watched 3-4 waitresses walk past us; one spoke to the other group at our table and another waitress stopped to talk to her boyfriend. Saw the manager of the place seating other groups! Two bus girls came and cleared the table but didn't speak to us. Overall, it was absolutely ridiculous. It's one thing if service is slow but the fact that no one even came to to speak or serve us is completely different. We left and probably won't be back! read more
