Food was great! I've always gotten burgers when I swing in here and I've never been disappointed. Service is friendly and efficient. It can slow down when they get busy, but that's to be expected with anywhere. Ambiance was nice, AC was blasting a little too hard though. They had a solid choice of background music and it doesn't get overly loud typically. Overall I would recommend checking it out if you want a good burger. The service is 5+ and the food was better than expected. We had the Saloon burger, French dip and patty melt. Nothing fancy in terms of creativity but the attention to detail made this American fare especially delicious. The Thirsty Buffalo is known for its hamburgers with handmade patties and large chicken wings. This place definitely has a local vibe. Our waitress, Emily, definitely has pride in the establishment. They do many things to fundraise for the local Buffalo Youth Hockey. We ordered the Keggers to start. These are large tater tots stuffed with bacon and cheese,and served piping hot. Delicious! My husband ordered a Reuben sandwich. The sauerkraut is made local and the sandwich was scrumptious. I had their homemade chili topped with cheese, sour cream, chives, and a side of cornbread. It came with honey butter that had a hint of cinnamon and vanilla. The atmosphere is full of the local spirit. They were selling raffle tickets for meat, had pull tabs, and bingo. We took my 90 year old Mother in Law there for lunch. We both had the "Porky Potato" special. It was wonderful, delicious! My MIL had enough to take home for a second meal later. My hubby really enjoyed his meal too... I can't remember what her ordered though. We all enjoyed some of the Sidewinder fries. The server was great! friendly, funny and attentive without hovering. The Thirsty Buffalo is a great place to grab lunch, and likely any other meal as well. The burgers have been good each time as well as the soups. I tend to go to lunch early, so I can't really say how busy it gets, but there seems to be a decent amount of room. Drinks are always cold. Service is quick and attentive. Walked in with a friend and his family. I am 23 and everyone else is 25+ Including the father! Tried to order a drink and had an expired ID so was refused. Found current valid ID and happened to go to a different bartender. After my friend bought a drink with a valid ID that was 31, we got approached by a different bartender and she freaked out at us for having a drink in her hand when she was plenty over 21. I understand the invalid ID as I work for US bank Stadium, Excel energy center, and others. The way we were approached and yelled at upset me and ruined my mood for the night. Kind of sad as the Thirsty Buffalo is a great watering hole. But, unfortunately the cook is a mess, doesn't understand Health and Food Saftey and surely not Covid. Also, some of the very young waitresses are so sickly a Doctor has given them "notes" so they don't need a mask and use a shield instead. Now, I have health issues related to my lungs and my Doc won't write that note. So long and short is, not a place to go during Covid. It is the Owners responsibility to make sure his employees follow guidelines and if they cannot oh well. The Bar Keepers seem to get it and be all over patrons not masking etc... We went for a quick appetizer. Mind you, it's bar food. Carrie, our server, is always attentive and quick to deliver drinks. We ordered the chicken nachos. Bad idea. There was a half head of un shredded lettuce atop a pile of chips. A hunk of melted hardened cheese plopped in the middle. I dug in and found a piece of chicken and we asked Carrie to take it away. Classic American bar food and atmosphere. Only a few people here for a late lunch on a Wed afternoon. Beer selection is average with domestic light brews and a few standouts like Stella, Surly, Castle Danger and some Summit choices. Food menu is the usual burgers, wrapsn sandwiches and apps. The Frisco burger comes with lettuce and tomato and texas toast with a side of fries. Very tasty but nothing extraordinary. Service was great! A decent place. The only reason I rated this establishment a 2 star is because the waitress we had was actually pretty decent. The real reason I am even writing a review is due to the fact that after a couple of songs they asked the band that they ended up paying anyway to leave around 10/1030. The reason was because the band had a new singer and they didn't sound the same as the last time they had been there. Yes that will happen when the sex of said person is different. Yes the band had some sound issues to start but they fixed it, they didn't play any music that I haven't heard there before by any other band! And in my personal opinion they didn't sound all that to bad after getting the sound issues all figured out. But it doesn't end there, as I was sitting outside about to leave the establishment I heard a customer ask the door lady why the band had to quit only to have her respond with "Cause they suck", as the bad is within ear shot packing up there equipment. Now I don't go out all that often but this to me seems very unprofessional! If you are looking for a local watering hole, avoid this place like the plague! This town has two main watering holes, and this is one of them. I've always had decent service at the bar, bartenders are actually peer personable. I'm new to this town but it's pretty clear that most people who hang out here know each other and come often. They have karaoke and I've even see a live band. used to love this place but lately its gone way down hill,.,,it takes forever to get served and even longer to get a meal cooked. Its really frustrating! Went there for dinner and had a direct view to the kitchen. No one had gloves or hairnets or any kind of thing for sanitary reasons on. Had a hair in our cheese curds!! Sat next to a window in a booth covered in dead flies. On the wall next to us cobwebs full of more dead bugs. Our service was excellent, although for a first timer when we walked in there was no indication of what we should do .... Seat yourself or??? Stand there and look like an idiot... You won't have a problem finding a booth because the knucklehead that installed the money saving bright white LED lights has the place lit better than an operating room. The ambiance is equal to the the warmth you feel in a dentist's chair. My burger was very good, fries were, well, just mediocre crinkle cut frozen fries. I've become some what of a regular here. They have Karaoke here Tuesdays and Thursdays and a live DJ on the weekends. Once again, I love their cheap beer and Hedgie's pizzas. They have separate patios (for smokers and non) which, as a non-smiker, I appreciate. I am from out of town but have found the locals to be friendly. read more
