Been going to this place on/off for 10+ years now. Customer service is great. Plenty of tables and some comfortable lounge chairs to sit in by a fireplace. Plenty out outlets and WiFi for studying. I love that they sell local art and offer a monthly special. They have my favorite chai latte blend and I love the little monkey stickers they put on the opening of hot drink lids. This time I tried the tuna melt and a watermelon tonic green tea drink. If you like watermelon try it! It tasted very fresh. The tuna melt was satisfying and came with yummy kettle chips. read more

Met here with a friend to catch up after he suggested it! What a fun little hidden gem in Bloomington! The vibes is cozy and relaxed. There are different seat options whether you want to sit in a booth, comfy chair or regular table. There is also a drive thru if you are on the go! They do have free Wi-Fi here, you just need to ask up front for the password. The staff was friendly and they brought our drinks out to us in our chairs, so we didn't have to stand around. I'm not sure if that still happens when it gets busier. I got an iced chai tea and it was soooo good! The notes of vanilla and cinnamon would make this a perfect fall drink! But I'll happily get it anytime! I love with the hot drinks the adorable little monkey!! They have options with flavor shots and I'd be willing to come back and try those! They also have some food but I didn't give those a try today. Overall, I'd happily come back here over a Caribou (gasp, I know fellow Minnesotans, I said what I said lol) They have a fire place and I can only imagine how extra cozy it gets when it's turned on! read more

We stopped at West Side Perk for a Flat White and a latte. Disappointed to find out they would not make a flat white. The lattes were similar in quality with hotel or airport lounge automated machine coffee, i e rather poor. We also ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was quite good and saved the day. I had a very pleasant experience at West Side Perk. I was looking for somewhere quiet to read and kill some time; this small coffee shop was just the spot. Staff was really friendly and my chai tea latte was really good, a little too sweet, but good. When I first arrived there were maybe 4 other folks here, but shortly thereafter the not so spacious space was filled to the brim. The noise level wasn't a bother even with that many people. Seems like this would be a good place to study/get some work done as well. I didn't try any of the baked goods, but they had an assortment for sale among other soups and sandwiches. There is no restroom inside the coffee shop proper, rather they are located in the lobby of the building as this shop is housed in a sort of strip mall. Very homey feel. I especially liked the nice comfy chairs by the fireplace. I would definitely go back. read more

A remarkable coffee house to write home about! The unassuming strip mall facade might fool you underestimate what's inside. The amazing scent upon entering reassures that you are in for a seriously good cup of coffee. Their "Maple Latte" is a delectable blend of freshly pulled shots of espresso poured over maple syrup & vanilla extract, topped with cinnamon infused steamed milk. The adorable yawning-monkey stopper they place over the sipping-hole adds a unique touch. The spot is very near to the Hyland Lake Reserve Park and makes a delicious pick me up after XC skiing or a run around the lake. read more

I arrived here on a Tuesday around noon and there were plenty of open tables and no wait. This locally owned coffee shop has a drive through but I chose to sit inside. I ordered a cappuccino which was offered in either a mug or to go cup and came in standard size options. The cappuccino was strong and well made. The baristas were extremely friendly and attentive. They also offer a variety of food options including lunch sandwiches but I didn't order one this time. The shop has a fireplace but sadly it was not on, which would have been very welcoming since it was pretty cold inside. There was some light classical music playing but it was quiet enough of a place to study for a few hours. There's a mix of tables and comfy couches. The only thing to be weary of is they close pretty early Monday and Tuesday at 3pm. Overall, I had a positive experience and would come back. read more

They have Gluten Free food!! I just moved into the neighborhood. I live and work near here so I dont often venture far. But with my dietary restrictions I was really bummed that none of my fav big chains with GF options were nearby for lunch options. Then I discovered this place and was pleasantly surprised! They have several GF muffins and donuts for breakfast and the cashier also told me that they carry GF bread so they can make any of their sandwiches GF! I have only done the muffins so far but they are delicious and as far as cross contamination- it appears they wrap their GF baked goods up in saran wrap after baking to protect it from touching other non GF food. Hard to find local coffee shops in EP/Bloomington area. Went to West Side Perk for coffee and a study spot for a couple hours. The coffee was good and the staff were very nice, however it is nothing to write home about. I can't say any negative things, but I don't expect to return anytime soon. read more

Cute place and nice family run place with an awkward layout because it appears to have been another business, probably a bank, at one time. There are the usual coffee bar items for food and drink on a hand written menu. The business next to them is an ice cream cone server which on a weekday summer morning seemed to be doing ten times the business as West Side Perk, wonder if a merger could take place? The prices are about par with others. The to go coffee was served with a seal over the spout which is a great idea so we don't have to spill hot drops on our hands while settling in the car. The coffee is low acidic however I found the dark roast much milder than in the urban cafes. Perhaps it's a suburb thing, you know nothing stronger than vanilla. The flavor was mellow but again, just on the weak side to me. Seems to be an ideal place to chat with friends or say hi to the friendly baristas. read more

I've been looking for a local coffee shop to call home since moving to Eden Prairie, and I've finally found it at West Side Perk! Today was my first time there and there are already a lot of reasons to love this little gem: 1. Service: A super smiley, nice staff goes a long way. Keep it up, ladies! 2. Entertainment: Having a whole shelf of board games makes WSP a perfect place to meet up with friends for coffee and a round of Desperate Housewives Dirty Laundry. Yes, they really do have that game. 3. Atmosphere: This is a great place to park it and get some work done. Plenty of outlets (usually right under your seat), and it's fairly quiet and cozy. It reminds me a lot of Overflow Cafe. 4. Food: Shoutout to the chicken & wild rice soup I had today. Seriously good. What a cute and fun place in west Bloomington! I had no idea this place existed. I grew up in Bloomington and it would have been so fun to have a coffee shop like this to hang out and do work in (not that I really got to go out much when I was in high school). We found this place when we were looking for a nearby coffee shop (I live in Savage now) that had wifi so we could do some work and planning for our upcoming trip to Hawaii -and didn't want to go sit at a Starbucks or Caribou. Wifi was great and easy to connect to and coffee was really good. I loved that they have almond flavoring as an option! When will the chain coffee shops get on that train? Food was pretty basic and not that special, so probably wouldn't go there to eat again but would def be back to get coffee and chill with friends or work. read more

This is a coffee shop with a very friendly atmosphere. Whenever I go, the crew is always smiling and eager to help. It is a super addition to our neighborhood. The coffee drinks are delicious and reasonably priced. I was once there on an uncharacteristically busy Saturday afternoon, and the few young people behind the counter were really working hard and kept everybody happy and the line moving. This sweet, quaint coffee shop is no more than a stone's throw from my house, but because of my addiction to a corporate coffee chain (that will go unnamed), I didn't rush to try West Side Perk. When I did finally step into this darling shop, I was blown away. The bold colors, the cozy feel and the friendly staff made my experience wonderful. Maybe I have common taste but didn't really care for their coffee. The scone was ok but paying almost $10 for those two items really turns me off. Only interaction with the workers is when you stand in line waiting to order. Did like that they brought out my latte but didn't care for having to bus your own table. I came in on a Sunday, somewhat grumpy from caffeine withdrawals and having low expectations for this place. From the outside, it looks like an oddly placed coffee shop. The menu also seemed limited and like the standard independent suburban coffee shop. However...the coffee was actually really good! It had a nice rich smoothness to it and the girls who made it did a fabulous job with the temperature (always disappointing to get lukewarm coffee). My only complaint is they charge extra for whole milk...I've never heard of that. Frankly, $4.61 for a small plain latte is a bit much...even the other nice coffee shops in the Twin Cities areas come standard with whole and are around the $4 mark. read more

Food/Drink: Coffee was average, nothing to write home about. I'll come back to try some of the espresso drinks in the future. The breakfast foods were all plastic wrapped or outsourced so I skipped it. They mention some lunch options, but nothing that would make me go out of my way to try them. Ambiance: Well, here's the thing, this coffee shop is more modeled after your living room. With the fireplace, the games, the comfortable sofas, the tv (and corresponding TV night for kids), it's you're home away from home. It is a little crowded around the ordering area and the cream, sugar, etc, but hopefully you're not spending a ton of time in these areas. Service: Good, no complaints. The coffee was for here and was given a mug and mentioned there are refills. No upsell, no crazy conversation about the weather. Overall: It's really hard to knock a independent and local coffee shop. It's good in a pinch, especially in the area. If you're planning on working here, it's pretty quiet and you won't get bothered except maybe during the kids nights, but plan accordingly and you'll be fine. read more

I live in West Bloomington and have waited a long time for such an awesome place. The coffee is amazing and it's not only coffee they are serving up...it's small business and community! They also have something that I have not seen in a coffee shop before WEST CIDER!! It's hot apple cider with whipped cream and caramel and it is absolutely delicious!! Free WiFi, Free dog biscuits, Free Tootsie Rolls, and games to play. They also serve up some awesome soup. It is the type of place where everyone feels like a regulary. Warm and cozy.
