On a quest for a non chain coffee spot we found triple D espresso. The shop has a prime location in the corner of a strip mall with plenty of parking. We visited in a Saturday afternoon and there was a regular flow of customers but still a few spots to sit and not too long of a wait for drinks. I opted for a butterscotch scone and the charcoal mocha. This has to be the most unique coffee drink I've ever had. It had a coconut flavor and what seemed like a ton of activated charcoal. The drink was completely black and gave my mouth and lips a black tinge as well. So, don't try this if you're headed to an important outing! It was very good though and something that I would probably get again. The space had a selection of local goods for sale along with coffee beans. It's an alright place with alright coffee, but the people who work here are the reason I'll come back. It feels like a small town coffee shop, and the two who work here are absolutely lovely. They saw I had my laptop out and came over to see if I needed the wifi. So, even though the coffee was kind of watery, it was a lovely place to sit down and get some work done. The muffin was incredibly moist, if rather crumbly. I want to give it more stars because the baristas were really so lovely, but I'm not impressed enough by the drink and muffin to do so. read more

My husband heard about this place on the radio, and since one of his favorite personalities said to try it was just HAD to try it. I'm always excited for a new coffee joint, so went with pretty high hopes. The overall ambiance was pretty average - cute, lots of space inside, and in a non-covid world would be fun to sit around and catch up over a cup of coffee. The coffee was also just above average. It was good, but definitely used bottled syrups for flavors and were a bit on the sweeter side for me. However, the coffee itself tasted great so if I were to go back, I'd probably order just a plain latte to give it a true test. read more

I had ZERO expectations of this little non-chain coffee shop in a building tucked behind the more prominent strip malls on hwy 55. I should have known better since there is a Starbucks just a block away. I think I thought that maybe this would serve for people that preferred weaker brews or blander food. I couldn't have been more wrong. I ordered a cherry chocolate scone and a double machiato. When I got to my table and opened my drink (they only have to go cups become COVID-19), it was so full that I stood up to go inside and ask her to remake it- espresso wkth a dollop of foam is the definition of machiato (unlike Starbucks' abomination which should be renamed). Inhad a second thought and decided to take a sip. This drink was pure heaven! It was exactly as I wanted! Full-bodied espresso with a foamy top to take off the edge. Nailed it! The scone is just how I like them- not too sweet but not too bland. My barista also gave me a nice cup of ice water upon request- with a smile. There's a lovely patio which is removed from the bustle of the busy Winnetka Ave and Golden Valley Rd intersection. Though you can still hear it, it is more like background noise than intrusive noise. I'll definitely be back. Since this is not on my usual path that is saying a lot! read more

I should NOT be drinking coffee. I know this. But I had a moment of weakness, I drive past this joint every day on my way to work/doctor/other work and back. And this particular morning, the starry, big buck chain yonder across the street just had me burnt out. I wanted to try something new, and I'm really glad I did because I've found my little coffee hang-out from here on out! To get to the particulars, this is a small coffee shop with a roaster and a self-serv (I think? Well, I self-serv'd..) coffee bean wall. The menu has seasonal flavor offerings, and they have a very comprehensive list of 'fru-fru' drinks (read: pumpkin pie spice lattes, chocolate cherry mochas, blended drinks, the list goes on; my moms language, not mine) to rival even the starriest or heavy footed chain coffee shops that are sprinkled through the area. The barista was very friendly and attentive to my request to stop my drink at 115 degrees, and I had enough time to sit and take in the calm atmosphere on this Sunday morning. I could see parking being a bother, but I had no issues. There are a number of other shops in this immediate area, so be careful; volume times could mean fighting for a parking spot. This was the first time I had visited this coffee shop. I was meeting up with a friend, and as usual, I went to Yelp to find a location that had an independent shop and this one stood out the most. Since I'm not a coffee drinker, I can't speak to the quality that the typical coffee aficionado would, but the tea selection (approximately 8 varieties) were good enough for me (for those who are sitting in suspense at the edge of their seats, I chose the Alpine Berry Herbal Tea and would choose it again ;-). I talked with the woman behind the counter and started asking questions about this location and learned that it's been up and running for 16 months now and was originally a Dunn Bros. coffee shop. She used to work at the previous establishment and the original owners were ready to retire, so the timing was right for her to step into becoming the owner. There's a common area full of tables and comfy chairs shared between Triple D and Davanni's, which is where my friend and I went to chat. After about an hour out there, one of the employees came out to ask if we'd like any refills. Nice touch! No one ever seems to offer refills. While we turned it down, the gesture was greatly appreciated! I would definitely come back to this location. read more

I enjoy trying new coffee places, however I feel like I tried Triple D espresso and can check off the box and say I've been there and done that. It's nothing I'd tell a friend about or rave about it. Average coffee, average baked good with average service. It's not the best advertised. When I was looking for coffee in the area I looked on yelp (of course!) and was surprised to know there was a coffee shop in the building. First and foremost, the shop is TINY! Barely any place to sit! I love working/reading at coffee shops and even that would be difficult to find a spot here. There is a beautiful patio that I'd LOVE to be on in the summer. They also have a hallway that you can sit in that has more area, but I prefer actually being in the coffee shop. I will admit they do have a wide variety of coffee, at least a dozen! Some coffee is too acidic for me, so I went with a something similar to a latte. They also have a wide variety of teas and non coffee drinks. It went with something weird because it sounded unique. I wouldn't recommend it. I got a 'Vanilla Dream' it was more 'boring in a cup'. Which was cold press, half and half, steamed milk, vanilla and froth. I was expecting basically a variation of a latte (coffee with steamed milk). I primarily tasted the half and half. Very little coffee flavor and even less to no vanilla flavoring. I would not order it again or recommend it to anyone to try, I'd most likely try to differ a friend's choice. I also order a raspberry chocolate scone. I won't be doing that again... It was buttery soft, flakey and fresh for a while, but then while I was finishing it, there was burnt section on the bottom of the scone. (Look at picture right piece on the upper most corner) and almost all I tasted was burnt my last few bites. Overall the décor of the place is pretty boring, plain and simple. Cheesy decorating, with rather random colored walls. There are some local cute art, but maybe if it was all over instead of one area. The roaster was cool and a fun touch, that reminded me of a Dunn Bros. There aren't many outlets or places that a laptop would fit nicely. The wifi I used was very slow, and I had to use davanni's because their wifi was locked and didn't have the code any where for me to enter. Usually it's by the register, or a reciept, or the employees might mention it, but nothing.. Not all places 'share' their wifi with their customers because they need their technology/register to be at top speed, so I was expecting that was the case. A few things that detail orientated me didn't like. 1- The price of the food in the case, not stated anywhere! No price near the item, not a list above, not on the board. I personally like to know what I'm paying when I buy something. Also no date made/throw away date was stated and I asked how long they were sitting in the case she stated they were fresh... Overall unorganized. 2- There was 3 staff working when I was there. One was standing behind the counter on her phone, two in the back sitting down, with the door open also on your phone. Maybe it's just me and my previous hospitality experience, but there was plenty for them to be doing. Ex: whipping down tables, checking the sugars/condiments/fixing for coffee, sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, dusting, taking out the trash, restocking or ANYTHING to look busy). I know it's normal for everyone and their friends to be on their phones, but you're working. I understand a break, but they'd emerge when someone opened the door (if lucky) then walk back into the back to sit down. Update: due to a family member of the owner's commenting rather unprofessional about my review, i'm lowering the rating to a 1, and not a 2 which I had before. read more

Nothing bad about the coffee . . . it was delicious and they have real cups you can use if staying on site. I bet during the summer when you can sit out on the patio it is a 5 star, but during the bleak winter months, I think the place could be made to feel a bit more comfortable. I also wish that, since we were one of only two groups there, the server would have been a little more attentive. Never asked how things were, never asked if we wanted a refill--not sure if refills are even an option. I will try it again during the summer months to see if I can get a warmer vibe, but until then, hope they spark the place up a bit since I love independents! read more

Have you ever wanted to order coffee inside a closet? If so, you're in luck! This place is smaller than my wife's closet and the drinks have as much flavor as my wife's shoes. I arrived on a lunch break looking for a midday pick-me-up, and instead received a very depressing beverage served by an even more depressed employee in the most depressing space I have ever seen. This place is so small, I looked like an evil giant arriving to destroy their beans. This place is a blase nightmare, and the only reason I would go back is because I would rather try to suck coffee straight from the beans than EVER set foot inside a Starbucks. Plus, this place is infinitely cheaper than Starbucks. If you want to be able to pay your bills, go here. It's cheap, but be warned the cheapness is exposed in their drinks. read more

This is the place where you can take your time to savor the smells of the fresh grounds and start a small conversation with the owners and sit outside with your fresh coffee or whatever makes your heart and mind sync, in the sun and bask in the warmth from inside out. And if you've been here few times you'll realize its a social conversation corner where a heart to heart talk is a possibility. It doesn't matter its sad or happy or official.
