I Love this place, it has such a great vibe and the people working there from the front staff to the stylists are friendly and wonderful. I had the most amazing stylist by the name of "Quinn" he was absolutely the best stylist I've had in a while. I needed a wash and blow dry and had not had my hair trimmed in a while BUT Quinn made it look like I had just gotten a fresh new haircut. I loved my blow out and Quinn was just so caring and friendly. He made my day and I walked out feeling like a Million Bucks. Thank you Quinn, next time I'm in town I will ask for you. read more

Michael does an excellent job and is very nice and talented. HOWEVER, this is a salon that only cares about money and being on time. I went for over a year and drive over an hour away. I was exactly SEVEN minutes late and on the way out, after paying close to $100, I was told by the Owner that I need to be on time in the future or he could book me a longer appoitment, for MORE money and that 7 minutes knocks off the whole schedule. I get people have schedules. I am a business owner too. If someone traveled to me a full hour each way, I would not be giving a lecture on the way out but instead say 'thank you for coming in'. Its a competitive market. I am easily able to find an establishment that cares more for its long standing customers, even if one is a whole seven minutes late. read more

I was away from my hometown (NYC) for a bit and desperately needed my roots redone. I found Jon Van Salon because they advertise using the same color brand as my regular salon (Goldwell). I had a great experience with Michael at Jon Van Salon. He recognized which color I normally get (even though I didn't know which one it was myself) and my hair looked and felt great when I left afterwards. I were a local, I would definitely make it my regular salon. I highly recommend the salon and highly recommend Michael. read more

I was new in town so I just picked a salon close by I was really concerned because my former hairdresser knew exactly how to cut my hair. Elena cut my hair and it was perfect! In fact it was a better haircut because I need a cut that doesn't take a lot of work and after she cut it just seemed to fall into place and I can actually go longer between cuts. Everyone was great. This isn't the most timely review. However, I went to Jon Van Salon for a pre bridal hair styling session. I showed the stylist Lana some elegant updo hairstyles. However, she proceeded to make a bow out of my hair. I again pointed at the pictures and advised what I was looking for. Then she told me that my hair was too long and that she would have to cut it. I agreed as long as she would cut it straight across. She cut a couple of inches and then tried again. However, the styling was bad so I just decided to stop wasting my time and paid for her time and left the salon. Once I returned home, I washed my hair and after combing it, my fiance asked me what was wrong with my hair. So he put a mirror up so that I could see that Lana had butchered my hair. It was jagged and longer on one side. The next day, I called to speak to the manager. I was advised that Nick was not in but was allowed to leave a message. He returned my call and I explained the situation to him. Nick was extremely unreasonable and even told me that since Lana cut my hair she should have charged me another $35. So my experience with Jon Van Salon would be less than 1 star if possible. Incompetent stylist and unreasonable management. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I made an on-line appointment with a specific stylist and when I arrived, on time, they told me that she was not available and tried to switch me to someone else. They made some noise about all their stylists being the same -- obviously they have no clue about how sensitive some of us are about our hair, ridiculous thinking for a hair salon in THIS town! They barely apologized, offered to reschedule for another day (are they kidding??), and shrugged it off when I told them how disappointed I was. So I left. They did not even bother to follow up. Terrible treatment of a new customer- no wonder the place was empty at noon on saturday! Bad experience, don't waste your time. read more

I had a very nice experience. I am fairly new in town and planned my haircuts around my trips home. This time I haven't been able to get home so I was at least a week or two overdue. I called this salon and asked for a same day appointment on a Saturday. Rudmila offered to stay late and take me as a client. She was awesome. I was having such a bad hair day I was ready to chop my hair off. She saved me from myself and promised she would cut my hair more if I still wanted it after a trim and color. She was right. That was all I needed to do. I would highly recommend her. Everyone was polite and customer focused. I will use this salon again. read more

Stay away! Went in for a hilite and left with zebra stripes. Paid $120 for service that had to be corrected 2x. Went back the next day to get the color corrected and after 2 more rounds of foils thought it was fixed. However, still had stripes and had to go elsewhere to finally have it fixed. The stylist was very sweet, just ruined my hair. Do your research!! read more

This place stinks. I paid $150.00 for highlights. I had thought they had made a mistake in the pricing but that was their actual cost for highlights. They said it is because they "use Goldwell hair color which is very expensive but the color lasts longer." It has been 5 weeks and my color has completely faded. Stay Away! read more

Really pleased with the haircut that I received here! I cannot speak to the more complex haircuts and treatments but I got a basic trim. Loved the look and the trim was quick. Got some great recommendations on how to protect and style my hair as well. Staff members were so polite and attentive and they even gave me a small gift for being a first time customer. I was greatly in need of having my eyebrows waxed before an important job interview and went into Jon Van Salon with my sister who also needed her eyebrows done. I have had mild reactions from wax before and told the stylist so. She said it was probably because others had used cloth strips as opposed to the paper she used. I took her word for it and lay back in the chair. The first eyebrow went fine and I was happy with what I saw in the mirror. Halfway through my second brow she asked if the wax seemed hot and I told her that it did. She proceeded to finish up and informed me that I may be a little more irritated on the second side. Her recommendation was to look into burn cream - that made me a little nervous.When I woke up the next morning my eye was almost swollen shut and there was a huge scab where the eyebrow area was supposed to be. The first eye she did had reacted in a way I am more familiar with with a few bumps. Later in the day I took the time to go to the salon and show them what had happened and was told that it happens some times and was again told to try burn cream. (My sister was right after me and had no reaction and I can only guess that they had turned the temp down by then.) Not only were all the stylists there saying "Wow, that is bad" but the owner was there as well and made no offer to refund my money, or for any other reparation. When I finally got sick of standing there being told that "it should be gone before your interview" I walked out furious. The owner followed me to my car saying "Melissa, Melissa... she was just trying to make you feel better." Well, getting my name right would have been a great first step in that process. I am sorry to say that I will never return and can only hope that they gain some business sense to properly handle the situation next time they take the skin off of someone. read more

I've been coming here since we moved to Decatur. The salon is clean and uncluttered. All of the employees are friendly and the prices are reasonable. Mirela colors my hair and she is amazing! I always feel fresh and pretty when I leave. She gives the best head massages during the rinse. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else! read more
