We had ask about one of the specials they had and the waiter said no one orders from the specials on the blackboard which was odd to say. I'm pretty sure the waiter was a bit inebriated and I was afraid he was going to drop our food on one of us, especially the long reach of plates full of food! Luckily there were no mishaps. Went to JoJo's mid afternoon on a Saturday. We were the only ones there. The ambiance was nice and it was plenty spacious. Lots of seating, with a little bit of everything going on in the way of decorations. The hours advertised online are NOT their actual hours of business. That needs to be updated. Our waitress was attentive and nice as well. Had there been more people I'm certain she still would have provided the same. As for the food. It was ok. Nothing grand. My husband ordered the fish and chips and it came with a bowl of vegetable soup. The soup was bland and the broth lacked a lot of flavor. Although the pieces of fish were huge, there was little to say about how they tasted. The deep fry was cooked to a perfect crisp, but the fish was mushy and I could see the disappointment in my husband's face. He was also not at all pleased with the coleslaw. It wasn't your typical vinegar/sweet dressed slaw. Something was different in it. Almost like a horseradish taste in the dressing. So, I asked if there was. The waitress asked the cook and they said no, there wasn't. Not sure what it was, but I t did taste different. I on the other hand liked it. But then again, I like horseradish. My order consisted of a chef's salad. When you read the menu and it tells you that it will have bacon and tomato wedges in it you'd think you'd be getting a salad with pieces of bacon and regular size tomato wedges. Nope. My salad came with a strip of bacon on top of it, leaving me to break it into pieces and the so called wedges were two little cherry tomatoes cut in half. The ham and turkey was good. However, cheddar cheese shavings would have been a nice alternative to the Kraft like sandwich singles that were stacked and then cut into long strips. I had to separate them all before I could enjoy my salad. All in all in tasted good, but nothing exciting. Oh! and they have a wide selection of deserts to choose from. None of which we ordered, but they're in a showcase as soon as you walk in. All looked delicious. They also have an ice cream pie kept in the back. The restaurant is nice. The waitress was nice and we had a nice lunch. Was it 5 star worthy. No. It was just o.k. Definitely not going to be our "go to" restaurant. read more

Went back here with my wife and a friend. The chair that I first sat in wobbled like it only had three legs. The booth seats have large holes from many people's butts they aren't very comfortable. The furniture is mismatched. The dining room was clean. The food was delivered faster than I expected after previous visits. Our orders came out together all hot. Fair size portions at a reasonable price. This isn't my favorite place but it was better than the last few times that we were here. read more

Warm welcoming greeting from front staff. Friendly attentive service from wait staff. Food made with quality ingredients and generous portions. French toast was light and fluffy, my over easy eggs were cooked perfectly for a nice runny yolk, and the ham had a great sear. Hubby had the chicken friend steak it was very tender with a nice crisp covered in silky gravy. Ended up here because my partner loves the anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. Environment is clean and spacious, giving diner vibes for sure! Very good temperature, which is important to me because i overheat and sweat in restaurants. My partner got the meat skillet with pancakes and it was so good! The pancakes were fluffy melt in your mouth types and the skillet was super hearty and the eggs were cooked very well. I got the club sandwich and fries, very good stack on the sandwich, even distribution of meats and good bacon on it! The fries were crispy and tasty. I love club sammies and i was delighted! My bf got a steak and it was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were real and not boxed. The fried okra was sooooo good and I'm usually not an okra gal. Jeanette was the best server!! She is so attentive and sweet and patient. It was our first time and she thought of every detail, including drinks to go. I got the clubhouse and everything was soooo fresh, lettuce and tomato especially. The salad and house ranch was a solid 10/10. I can't recommend this place enough!! A hidden gem. read more

Chicken fried steak dinner, yummy and huge. Will be 2 meals. Limited seating outside masks required. Smaller size menu but with all your favorites. They just added pies. Today the cashier was in training and even though I asked for breakfast he told me I was getting it (I knew but I didnt argue and I wasnt upset with real mashed potatoes). We went in after 10am, so still early enough for breakfast but late enough for a lunch. The menu seemed to be a little limited, but still had something for everyone. I had the pancake combo with bacon (sausage and ham were also options) and had my eggs scrambled with cheese and my husband had the club sandwich with fries. Everything was prepared wonderfully. The syrup was served warm which is always better! My food was also warm and cooked perfectly down to my crispy bacon request. The only request my husband said was he wished he would have asked for avocado on his club sandwich (which is always something you have to request on a club). Another plus was that the ladies restroom was very clean. Small detail but I felt it was worth mentioning. Parking was a little crazy, but worth the few extra steps, especially after eating the pancakes. Our waitress was very nice, and was on top of our order. We will definitely be back! read more

I took my wife to this restaurant a few days before Christmas. The restaurant is weld it, open in friendly. We had a nice lunch, had the turkey club, and the barbecue bacon cheeseburger. Both came with healthy portions for a reasonable price, the fries were done, right, and the server was very friendly. The food tasted great! the only bad mark would have been that the server did not come back and ask if we needed more water. This restaurant is a welcome addition to East Bakersfield, and I am eager to come back and try the breakfast and dinner menu. read more

I ordered the dinner portion of Chicken Fried Steak and it came with soup or salad so I ordered the soup which was Chicken Tortilla soup--it was OUTRAGEOUS! We went on a Sunday morning. There was absolutely no one there. No one to seat us eithet...we waited a good 5-10 minutes before someone came out to greet and seat us. The initial lady that helped us was kinda rude and pushy. I got my go to breakfast meal, chicken fried steak with scrambled eggs and country potatoes. It wasn't the best meal. I had a couple of pieces of egg shell in my eggs so I didn't really eat that. The coffee wasn't great either. The only thing that I would come back for was the pancakes. The meal came with pancakes so that definitely made my breakfast. Our actual waitress came later. She was nicer and a lil more helpful. Our overall meal and experience wasn't that great. Today was our 3rd visit to Jojo's. Food is consistently delicious. Vegetable soup is freshly made with lots of zucchini, cabbage, celery and onions. Great job, Beatrice (Mrs. Jojo). Plentiful Turkey dinner was scrumptious with real turkey breast and mashed potatoes (or fries), tasty dressing, gravy, and crispy fried okra (or fresh green beans). We'll finally gave JoJo's a try. So my bud told they were ok nothing great but if you look at the reviews they appear to be better than just ok. We came in for lunch were greet by a cheerful server. She was super friendly and is a 5 stat staff member. I ordered the fish and chips which came with shoestring fries, coleslaw and a choice between homemade vegetable soup or side salad. I chose the soup. So the soup had large chunks of Vegi's, potatoes, celery, carrots, summer squash. The vegetables were cook perfectly, the broth on the other hand was flavorless. It seriously needed something to make the broth richer. The fish and chips were 2 huge pieces of deep fried cod. The breading was awesome unfortunately the fish on the inside was soggy. My guess was the fish was still frozen before cooking and steam instead of being breaded while it was thawed and dry. The coleslaw for me was a miss for my taste buds. It had a horseradish taste to it, which could've been vinegar just wasn't what I was looking for when I saw the dish. The fries weren't hot out the frier, they were luke warm at best. Had breakfast after we moved to the area. We were looking for a nice breakfast place and we came across Jojo's. Its a cute corner spot in the shopping center. We were greated and seated on entry goven menus. It was nicely decorated surprised to see the space and seating. We placed our breakfast order and the meal came out promptly. Everything was good and the food didnt disappoint. The portions seemed a bit smaller than most places. But we liked it and Id suggest you give it a try. read more

I had the chance to go to JoJo's with my daughter when it opened for dine in. I can give each staff member 5 stars each they are so friendly . Once we got our table I was supposed that the cook came to greet us. I did not get our waitress name but we need more like her. She made sure we were doing well though out are meal . I was so surprised how well the restaurant follow the guidelines and keep all customers within social distance . The restaurant is family friendly . I have been to this restaurant about 4 times. It's very spacious and the temperature is very comfortable. The waitstaff is so nice and attentive. The fish and chips are fantastic! The portions are huge, and the batter has great flavor and the ratio between the fish and batter is great. I'm not sure of the cook is the owner but he has come out a few times and checked on us and you could see the pride he has in his food which is very much deserved! I have heard so much about JOJO's and water find it was so a few weeks ago I finally got around to visiting with my friends. I was a little disappointed to be honest. Service was extremely slow and we try to be patient but 15 minutes to get our water was a little bit much and unfortunately it was indicative of what to expect for the rest of the meal. The food was good but not spectacular which is acceptable. I'll probably go back one more time and give them another chance. I'll let you know. read more
