Ube Soft Serve 8oz To Go
Sydney G.

Uhhh that Ube soft serve with toasted coconut will definitely have me coming back again and again. It's so good! I also got an order of fries and a double burger to go. Both were really solid and I see what the hype is all about!!

Ube Soft Serve

t's tough to find both value and quality in D.C., but Joia Burger is the exception. The lettuce, tomato, and pickle slaw they put on their burgers and deluxe fries is perfect -- everything tastes wonderfully fresh, and the burgers are just delicious. They also offer a solid variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, which was a nice surprise. The ube soft serve was a unique and fun way to end the meal. The one downside: the Mt. Pleasant location we visited appeared to be having trouble with its ventilation system -- it was very smoky inside.

Tried the single patty burger. It's a solid burger cooked with smashed patties so you get a crispy edge. The sauce was a stand out very flavorful but a touch salty. The bun was solid - fluffy and held up nicely. The place was tiny with a ~8-10 spots to sit. Definitely not a hang out / chit chat with your friends kind of spot. Order. Eat. Get out. No frills.

This is a great burger in the Mount Pleasant area. You can immediately be assured of why it's so popular when you take that first bite. Service was very good, staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed my burger and ended up sitting inside. They have a few seats if you're lucky to go when it's not so busy. I got the double patty, it was fine but I almost wish I had gotten the third. It is a smaller burger so if you go hungry, you'll want that triple patty or maybe even two smaller burgers. Fries were fantastic. They also have a variety of dipping sauces available for an upcharge. Super solid all around, I will for sure be returning soon!

This was a top 5 burger for me, absolutely delicious. I dragged some friends here in the rain on our first night in DC. It was a smaller joint than I thought, but some seats freed up at the counter inside so we were able to dine in. We all ordered a single party burger, while they got a side of fries. I ordered my burger without tomatoes and I was glad they were able to oblige. The burger exceeded my expectations and the taste exceeded the sum of its parts. I also had some of the fries and those were great. The serving is fairly big though so I'd suggest splitting an order. I will definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

We really liked Joia burger! They have a very simple menu, but they do it well. We got a single and double burger and some loaded fries. Everything was tasty! I especially enjoyed the fries. The service was quick, and there are a few counters where you can sit if you want to dine in. Check it out!

The food was so good I forgot to take a picture. I ordered the Wagyu burger (single patty) with joia sauce and fries with aioli sauce. Super tasty! I'll come back for the ube soft serve!

I love Joia. These are some of the best wagyu smash burgers I've ever had. They even have a kids meal which made it even better!! Don't forget to grab the ube soft serve. Give this place a try if you want a great burger from a great restaurant!!

SINGLE Patty Wagyu Burger

Let's deconstruct the single patty burger. Overall, I loved it. The single patty along with the regular fries was filling enough for me. The two buns were fluffy. The wagyu beef was tasty and eating the single patty was enough for me to get a sense of the flavor. The distinctive part of the burger - the diced tomato, onion, lettuce, and pickle combined together in special sauce - was good, if you're a big into sauce. In my burger, the mixture was a little hard to hold it all in between the buns, so some of it fell into the wrapper. That's not horrible; just scoop it up with the fries, which were average tasting and come with ketchup. Extra charge for their other sauces. I visited on their one-year anniversary, so it was a very happy day for Joia and their staff. Bar stool seating partially lines the walls of the restaurant, so it's fine to eat inside if it's yourself and maybe up to two friends. Looking forward to coming back for the ube soft serve.

In the heat of D.C. summer, the ube soft serve from Joia is the perfect dessert. It's smooth and more than enough food for $6. I would recommend getting extra napkins because the soft serve overtakes the side of the cup it's served in.

I just found my favorite burger in DC! I can't recommend this place highly enough. The Joia sauce on the burger and fries is heavenly. And the ube soft serve is the perfect end to the meal. Just make sure you grab LOTS of napkins... these burgers are messy! I couldn't recommend this place more if I tried!

Cannot recommend Joia burger enough! The staff is the kindest and has such attention to detail. The food is high quality, reasonably priced and very tasty. I got the single wagyu smash which was an excellent burger with well proportioned toppings. The ube soft serve is a must order - so creamy and full of sweet ube flavor! The toasted coconut and sprinkles are the cherry on top too. The menu is small but they execute everything really well. Definitely check them out!

I was a fan of Purple Patch so it was cool to here they do burgers for a good flavor change for the palate. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking or neighborhood parking. It can get packed so I would recommend to ride share, carpool, or do public transportation. Seating: Seating inside, seating outside! Very intimate. Feels: You're in the Mt Pleasant area of things in DC, so a little grit and grind of things. The spot itself seems pretty family friendly. You'll see a lot of children art posted and across is a park. There's a tv to watch the news and chill too! Great place for friends and family. FOOD: Double Patty Smashed Burger (Recommend) You do have the choice of a single or triple. I lowkey wish I got a triple but this did it well. The burger was flavorful and caramelized with nice crispy edges, bun was comforting, and cheesiness, but though people say the tangy secret sauce is great, that salsa takes it to another level for me. Fries (Recommend) Whether you get a burger or not, this is a delight. Crunchy, soft on the inside, and savory. Ube Soft Serve (Recommend) Smooooth. Creamy, flavorful, and not too sweet. Good way to end a meal. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Friendly people, quick with the service. TL; DR OVERALL: 5 Stars. Pleasant flavors, simple choices, and a pleasant ambiance. This is quite the place to be blessed with delicious eatery spots like this and Purple Patch. Visiting, it'll be hard to explore others as I'll be wanting to come back for more here. Best wishes to Chef Patrice and the rest of her team! #FilipinoFoodMovement #Represent-ASIAN TIPS: * This deserves a HIMYM Best Burger treatment - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPCSOojy93o&ab_channel=KhatiaGremelashvili * https://dc.eater.com/2024/3/6/24091958/inside-joia-mt-pleasant-new-burger-joint-filipino-dc-restaurant-openings * For more Filipino flavors, check out Purple Patch a block next door.

Love this place! Must order: double patty burger with fries and ube soft serve. The single patty is good but the double is necessary. Trust.

Well I do enjoy burgers and plenty of places have upped their burger game. As much as it cost for a burger at certain fast food places you might as well hit up some of these other places. The prices are basically the same now. On a few trips to Capital Grille I did go with the burger and so I decided to check out its affiliate Capital Burger. Capital Burger actually has more burger options to choose for over Capital Grille and a more slimmed down menu. Still with the name burger in its name, you know where their focus is. I went with the bacon cheeseburger that comes with candied smoke bacon that came at $22 with your chose of sides (fries or various salads). It was cooked to the perfect medium rare and you can tell when a burger is cooked with better ingredients and cooked with a give a damn. It was not thrown together, and the fries were not just sitting under a heating lamp. I actually ordered a to go burger for the spouse. Here is where customer service comes in. I was asked how far I had to travel and the person taking my order said she will separate portions so it will travel better. Thank you. It is that little extra that goes a long way. This time I went with the Capital Burger to go along with some key lime pie to nibble on later. Great service and great food. There are plenty of good burger places but if you are a burger fan then definitely check this place out. Absolutely no disappointment. For a true high end burger experience I have no problem giving this place a solid five stars.

There Are Hotels. And Then There Is The Jefferson…read more Some places hold history the way marble holds cold, the way a well-appointed room holds silence after a long day of noise. Washington, D.C. is full of those places. Monuments. Halls of power. Streets that hum with the weight of decisions that shaped the world. But The Jefferson sits in a different category entirely. It does not shout its significance. It assumes it. Quietly. Perfectly. The way only a truly great institution can. For a millennial woman who grew up watching The West Wing and Scandal; who came of age believing that proximity to power was a personality trait, walking into The Jefferson feels like arriving somewhere you already knew existed but had not yet been permitted to enter. The lobby does not try to impress you. It simply receives you. Dark wood, dramatic marble,, soft light, the kind of quiet that costs something. I came for an afternoon. I left with a story. It started with a glass of wine and a question. The wine was easy. The question was better. I turned to Mike, the bartender, the kind of professional who carries himself with the quiet competence of someone who has never once doubted a pour, and I asked him directly: how confident are you in making the perfect martini? Sky high, he said. He was not wrong. Gin. A wash of vermouth. Nothing more. Stirred, because some things are not up for negotiation, and James Bond has a lot to answer for. The glass arrived impossibly cold, impossibly clear, with a lemon twist curled inside like a small, elegant secret. The first sip was the kind that makes you set the glass down slowly, look at nothing in particular, and simply exhale. That was the drink. That was the moment. That was The Jefferson saying: you are exactly where you should be. What followed was a burger. But calling it a burger is like calling the Library of Congress a place with books. They heard me. Gluten free toast in place of a bun, no hesitation, no substitution tax levied in the form of a lesser experience. The patty was serious. The cheese was melted with intention. And then, the Dijon. Two small jars of Clovis, the kind of condiment that makes you wonder why you ever settled for anything else. Thick. Complex. The culinary equivalent of a strong opinion delivered with grace. This is what D.C. does to you when you let it. When you stop moving long enough to sit at a bar that has probably hosted quiet conversations that changed things, and you order something beautiful, and you let the afternoon arrive. This city is not just for politicians and lobbyists and people with lanyards. It belongs, equally, to the ones who show up knowing what they want and how to ask for it. Stirred. Not shaken. Mike understood that before I finished the sentence. And The Jefferson understood it long before I walked through the door.

I would absolutely go back but plan ahead because the interior, while cozy, can get crowded quickly.

We both got the All American Burger and it was awesome! Piled high with extras like fresh lettuce, flavorful tomatoes, sharp onion, slightly spicy mayo - MORE PLEASE!!!! It was straight up LOUD when we arrived due to the music; so loud I debated on if we should stay but we decided on sticking here after seeing there were a couple spots at the bar and less of a crowd there. The bartenders are attentive and patient, answering any questions you have. After ordering a couple beers, I ordered the chicken wings and a side caesar salad while my friend got the fish and chips. The wings are crispy although dry on the inside; fortunately you got the ranch for that; probably not something I would order again given the quality and price. The caesar salad is fine; nothing special, just fine. The fish and chips looked delicious and my friend enjoyed it. I probably should've gone with that but it was a large portion and I wasn't trying to leave on a full stomach. It's breaded nicely with some parmesan fries and a garnish of slaw. I can tell it's a favorite here. Located in Dupont Circle, this seems to be a favorite of the younger crowd which would explain the blaring music; especially on a Wednesday night at 930ish. The restaurant interior gives an upscale elegant vibe that suites the DC scene. Maybe I'll come here for lunch or on the weekend if I'm in the area but I'm too old for the loud music now. Sit outside (if weather permits).

Before heading to the airport for our flight, we had a few hours to spare and decided to grab some…read morelunch. My husband did a little research and found this burger spot. From start to finish, I have absolutely no negative feedback at all. 1. The Food Everything we ordered was completely divine! Here's the rundown: -Sandwiches: My husband got a Bogan Bun. My son a Mumbo Bun chicken sandwich and listen, he didn't speak a single word the entire meal because he was enjoying it so much! I ordered the Lucky Bun made with an Impossible patty. It was everything! Best I've had at a restaurant! In fact, my son, who loves beef burgers and claims he doesn't like plant based meat, ended up eating the rest of my burger! He tore that plant based meat DOWN! -Thick cut chips & Queso: The waiter let us know that their portion of fries (chips) could easily feed 3 to 4 people. He was not lying at all. The three of us shared one basket. I don't know if the sandwiches or the fries stole the show. These fries were seasoned to absolute perfection!!! SERIOUSLY! Not the typical sprinkle on top, but seasoned on every single side like someone picked up each fry and hand sprinkled each fry. Think I'm fibbing look at my pic. We ordered a side of queso for dipping and it was so good I wish I had some right now. If you're reading, hear me out Lucky Bun....add tortilla chips and queso to the menu please!!!! I would buy it just to scoop up that delicious cheese. -The Garlic Aioli: why am I highlighting a condiment???? Because!! lol!! It wasn't just standard mayo mixed with garlic powder. You could tell someone actually finely minced fresh garlic and herbs into it. It was so good I couldn't decide whether to dip my fries in the aioli or the queso! So that's why it's in my review! 2. Service The service was exceptional. There was no wait time at all. We walked straight in and were seated immediately. The food came out extremely fast which surprised us since we all ordered completely different proteins. They were speedy but all of our food arrived perfectly warm. The host, a slim gentleman, and our waitress, a lovely young lady rockin locs, were both incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. I'm telling you good service makes the food even better! 3. Restaurant Look and Seating The inside of the restaurant is fairly small, but they maximized the space with multiple tables and a full service bar. They also have outdoor dining and a front waiting area with outdoor furniture, which would be perfect for a nice summer day. You don't even have to ask me because you already know the answer. YES!!! The next time I am in DC, I will specifically make time to go there. Even if I'm not staying in the immediate area, I would gladly take an Uber just to eat here again and so will my family! Make sure you get there too!

The patty melt was perfectly cooked, juicy, and hit all the right spots, and those fries were crisp, seasoned just right, and seriously addictive. Service was great. The mosquitoes aren't out yet so enjoy the patio. But honestly, the real star of the show, the one that truly stole my heart and taste buds, was the Antigua Bound drink. It was so good I had to get it twice! Seriously, this drink is a game-changer. It's got that perfect balance of refreshing and delicious that just makes you want to savor every sip. You know a drink is special when it outshines a stellar patty melt and fries, and the Antigua Bound definitely did that.
