I mean I live in oly and all about helping out the little guy, until they deny making a ring gap mistake twice in a row and after having a 45 min long conversation with Randy about ring gap in boosted motors i figured I didn't have to worry the engine would be gapped correctly for boost! yes i was running a dome piston witch would to most look like a high comp piston! however my engine was far from standard you Honda guys out there know B16b is highly sought after and extremely valuable at least until these guys made the same ring gap mistake not once and after paying for all Honda gaskets a second time and paying for half the labor due to him admitting to the mistake you would think no problem they got this! well a month goes by and poof same shit except this time it cracked 3 sleeves in the block, broke two forged pistons and ruined the ring land on a third! well this time I was so mad I pulled it apart myself to check the gap in the rings! and guess what gap was for a NA application at least that's by Wiseco's sheet for a 82mm bore size at least almost for a na application I got barely .012 gap and that's a barely after forcing the feeler gauge in to get that .012 they list NA gap for 82mm at .014 and .016 for a boosted application when confronted they told me it was a performance application the was no warranty and they were in no way responsible for the same mistake he just took partial responsibility not even a month earlier and have a nice day! seeing the engine is over $10,000 to replace not surprising to see they turned it to scrap metal. it was nice of them to split the labor and make me buy them all new gaskets witch by the way are over $500 themselves for a second time and $700 for work i just paid double that for less then a month earlier just to have the exact same issue for the exact same reason im stuck eating the price of their mistake not once but twice. i guess they were not happy till they turned that engine to scrap metal! no compensation for either time and no explanation on how they made the same mistake not once but twice! take your investment to Brit Co in Centralia I've been dealing with them ever since Johnson's told me i had to eat their mistake! I've had no issues even remotely consistent with the poor service and piss poor accountability of Johnsons! come to find out I'm not the only person they pull this type crap on! after explaining my crappy encounter with a few outher enthusiasts i find out this kind of thing is a regular occurrence, of turning good running motors to junk. take your toy to someone who actually cares if it runs right a month down the road! johnsons will get it back to you running but longevity is a serious doubt when dealing with this scam artist! some people take pride in their craft not this guy he takes your money trashes your investment then takes no responsibility for his actions ive never been more disappointed in what was supposed to be a reputable machine shop! he could have fixed the sleeves seeing it was his mistake 2 times in a row but no i got a have a nice day and pile of scrap metal for my @2200 total to him and $1200 in factory Honda gaskets! thanks again Randy in any case my loss their gain! you got all the money out of me you could and a valuable, rare engine! great job! and thanks again! next time I need to flush $15,000 ill get in touch! i know that's a small number in performance engines! anyone else before doing business hear ask around, I bet you find others just as I did in the same situation with Johnson's again my referrals go to Brit Co Centralia he will treat you and your investment with professionalism and respect! read more

Had to wait a while until I installed my engine and got it running before I gave a review. So here we are now: I brought in a stock SVT focus 4 cyl to be rebuilt for boost. They took care of the block and the cylinder head perfectly and were very patient with me as I am still a noob with engine rebuilding. I drove down from Seattle for Johnson's to do the work and it was worth it! Great price too. Randy and Stacey were very helpful and had great communication throughout the whole process. I was staying at American Heritage Campground, a few blocks from the shop, and ran into a rather ridiculous problem... I had an improperly installed bike hitch on my 2" receptor with a stripped, trapped steel bolt that was stuck inside the shaft of the bike carrier. I basically needed the bolt bored out or cut off, so I could get my hitch back and tow my camper again! I looked up "machine shops" and found this place around the corner. The gal on the phone was super-nice and had me speak to Randy, who said to come on in. The next day I dropped by so they could take a look. I overheard the office gal speaking to a customer on the phone, and Randy talking with a guy in their office, and they both sounded extremely knowledgeable and friendly. After a 10-minute wait, Randy checked out my problem and had me pull my truck in back. He busted out the handy-dandy Sawzall and cut that sumbitch off super-quick. He then took the cut piece into the shop to trim the bolt a second time so I could use the bike rack again. I was outta there in 30 minutes total. Wanna know the cost? NOTHING! Randy didn't charge me a dime (despite the pricing board inside stating a minimum $25 for shop time, which I'd already offered to pay). Awesome guy. I was shocked to see the other review here about rude treatment and overcharging. Hey, man, everyone has their bad days. You said you'd had a grip of positive experiences but then, one bad one and you run to Yelp to post a negative review? Not fair. finding the right machine shop for this kind of application was very intimidating, as I am a professional cynic, and do not trust anyone with this kind of work. i was more worried about quality of work, than pricing, as i know this stuff isn't cheap. after researching through local parts stores, garages, and word of mouth, I decided to take my engine to them. Complete rebuild (2008 ford 2.3L 4 CYL gas DOHC). I knew it would be a challenge for them given the young age of the engine. they stepped up, put up with my stupid questions, and within 3 weeks i picked up the engine. was unable to get it properly running for quite some time, because of on board computer issues. Fun fact for newer applications. you will probably have to retrain your ECU before you can get the motor to operate properly. . 3 weeks ago, I finally was able to find help with that issue, and the truck is back in service 110%. (700+ miles so far). purrs like a kitten, and after a long time, i am finally able to enjoy driving my truck again. one look at their shop, and you will know you have arrived in the right place. these people are awesome, don't hesitate to spend your money with them. you won't be disappointed. read more
