Not a good experience. I asked them to check the electrical system for a possible phantom drain, but according to the bill, they did not do it. When I went to pick up my car, it was dead. Tye didn't give any apology at all, nor offer to charge the battery. The friendly mechanic jumpstarted my car for free, however. I understand people have to make a living, but this left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

I took my 1987 Honda Accord lx (carbureted) to Gary's in June (2022) to get the carburetor rebuilt. Obviously if you know anything about carburetors, finding someone who knows anything about them let alone know how to work on them is few and far between. It took a couple months to have carb rebuilder get it done, but at the end of the day my car runs great (have put 2000 miles on it since the rebuild without a hiccup) and it was fairly cheap to fix ($700) without charging me a storage fee. Special shout-out to Gary and Tye, and too the mechanics that out the time in on it. I know those vacuum lines were a bitch to figure out. You'll always have my business. read more

This place is the worst , my brother took his two cars one Jetta for tune up , this Assholes broke the turbo oil hose later my brother took the Jetta to auburn VW and they said whoever did the job before they are an idiots , second car an xterra they charged $800 bucks for tune up and they mess up something else took back and they not responsable for anything in a few words do not bring your car with this type of idiots read more

I went to have my car looked over at Gary's just to make sure it was in good shape. They told me my check engine light was on (which wasn't on before bringing it to Gary's) and it was for a part that was going to cost me $900 to fix. I then became very suspicious of them, so I took my car to another place where they said the cord for the part had been unhooked which caused the check engine light to come on. The mechanic hooked it up for me without any charge and now I have no check engine light on since the part actually works just fine. Either the people at Gary's are incapable of working on cars or totally trying to scam you. Either way, I'd stay away from them. They are not worth the trouble. read more

I took my car here for a standard, non synthetic oil change, and to get a read on my check engine light. My bill was $150.... and they had no answers for me at all. They simply did a read on the code and told me what it said. I then Took my car to auto zone for a free reading and the employee there was honestly way more helpful, and didn't cost me a thing. read more

Last May we took a vehicle in for over $2000 in repairs. Part of that repair was a heated front seat. We were told the warranty was good for one year. On February 10th we had an appointment to take the vehicle back in because the heated seat was no longer working. We were told that the vehicle was not under warranty that it was a different part that needed replaced. Most of that I can live with. What I did not know is that we were having warranty work checked and were very surprised to receive $123.00 invoice to CHECJK WARRANTY WORK. In truth, we never should've taken it back as our experience the prior time was less than professional. It took them weeks to get the vehicle repaired with multiple visits, including defective parts. The repairs they did were less than mediocre. When I made the appointment THERE WAS NO MENTION OF A FEE TO CHECK WARRANTY WORK. WE NEVER AGREED TO THIS CHARGE. We have always, and will continue to shop locally and support small businesses. However, this particular business will never receive our business again as it is ran poorly and underhandedly. ALL CHARGES SHOUD BE AGREED UPON PRIOR TO THE SERVICE. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A STANDARD BUSINESS PRACTICE. read more

I was parked alongside the street at Gary's waiting for them to open in the morning I noticed their parking lot up top had trash on it like somebody was dump their stuff out from the car. Later here comes a guy in droopy pants with a pick up truck with Tatered flags on each side of the rear end he pulls up and Hollers at me at me and says I hope you didn't make this mess! I'm thinking oh that's not nice at all! I was thinking well I think I should just go somewhere else? I told him no it was like that when I pulled up alongside of the street here yes I'm homeless but I don't create messes I'm not that kind of a homeless person so I stay away from those kind of people. So anyway all right so they work on my car for about a half a day but it seem like I think we have other cars in there and then tie which seems like he is so tired and everything and in a bad mood says that my power steering pump went out and the rack went out rack and pinion went out in the car for $1250 to fix it. I had to pay him 100 and something just to tell me that. I had to think about it because someone told me to check the reservoir in the steering pump see how far it is and it was pretty full so I took some out drove it around and when I took some out it was black that's not good I thought I drove it around for a few more days then it started steering good so the problem was I think it is but I did add more to that reservoir remember after I noticed there's something wrong with my steering so I check it again and it's clear now so I'm thinking is before I added more fluid it was possibly plugged up somewhere and then when I took some out couple days after I put fluid in it and overfilled it I think the pressure unclogged system. It was clear. And my steering is fine my pump didn't go out, and my rack and pinion didn't go out. But as far as Gary's will actually tye when I say who I am he goes OH! it's! Kevin! Before that I went there I got my car fixed waited all day and everybody's got their and each car was pulled out onto the side of the street in front of the business each one of them except mine. I swipe my card to pay and Ty says stand at this door and I'll go in the shop and he says come on in it was dark in the shop my car was right there in the shop rolling door was closed he says I'll holler at you when you can start the car and I'll pull up the main door... It seemed creepy... See I wasn't in the club...... read more

I took my car in for a 180000 mile service appointment and the bill was suspiciously low but I figured hey, great. Then I left on a 2000 plus mile road trip. I decided to take my car in to a different place for my next oil change because I had a weird feeling about Garys. So I went to Trusted Choice auto, where Rocky told me all my brake pads were worn out and my drive belt desperately needed to be replaced. I'm appalled that Garys did not catch either of these urgent repairs on my car especially when I was about to go on a long road trip. If my drive belt had snapped I could have been stranded in the middle of nowhere and needed a tow. Fast forward a month or so. I'm just getting off the highway 1.5 hrs north and at the light on the off ramp, my car won't shift into gear. It won't move. When I can finally force it into gear, it's making a horrible sound. I just barely made it to my destination which thankfully was not far from the highway. I called Gary's, since they replaced my clutch master/slave cylinder at the time of the last service and thought maybe their parts or labor were faulty. Tye said he would be happy to look at it free of charge and sounded confident in his guarantee of the labor and parts. So after a nightmarish rollercoaster of trying to get my car back down to olympia (finally had to rent a uhaul and tow it myself) Tye informed me that I needed an entire new clutch kit. He gave me a quote $400 higher than TCA and I told him I was having my car towed to another shop. He started yelling at me and throwing a tantrum. As if this whole thing hadn't been stressful enough. A grown man. Trying to bully me into giving him more money. Then he threatened to charge me for looking at my car which he had previously very clearly agreed to diagnose for free. He was so immensely unprofessional and downright mean that I actually feel embarrassed for him and Garys as a shop. Garys charged me $60 for an oil change, Trusted Choice $30. Garys takes half a day to get around to my car when I drop it of first thing in the morning, I was in Trusted Choice for a total of 40 min, a chunk of which was spent talking with Rocky. Garys garage is tucked away so they can do (or not do) whatever they feel like, Trusted Choice does all their work out in the open. Tye at Garys gives me weird looks, Rocky is all smiles. So yeah, going to Garys is a total rip off, not to mention potentially disastrous, and highly stressful. Maybe they just thought they could scam me because I'm a young woman, or they are simply careless. read more

It took longer than their quoted time for them to tell me what was wrong with my vehicle. When they finally told me about it they had already taken the engine apart. It ended up costing me $260 just for them to put it back together. Also I had to call them to find out about the status my car, each day they kept forgetting to call me. I waited for their calls until I had to run at the last moment to pick up my vehicle before they closed for the day. read more
