I've now taken my 2014 BMW 535d to Larsen's Auto Repair a couple of times, and they've earned my…read moretrust. Most recently, I brought the car in after another shop told me I needed rear brakes, calipers, and suspension work totaling a pretty significant bill. Larsen's took the time to actually inspect everything and gave me a much more accurate picture. They confirmed the rear brakes were still in good shape (around 10mm), the control arm bushings were fine, and none of that additional work was needed right now. That kind of honesty is rare. They previously handled my front brake service, and everything was done right, no issues since. This time they also completed an alignment and oil service, both at fair prices. Mark was especially helpful throughout the process. He clearly explained what was actually needed versus what could wait, and didn't try to upsell anything. I never felt rushed or pressured, just informed. Bonus points to him since he's a fellow Atlanta Braves fan! If you're looking for a shop that will diagnose correctly, communicate clearly, and not recommend unnecessary work, Larsen's is a solid choice, especially if you have a BMW or higher-mileage vehicle and want straightforward, trustworthy guidance.

They where misleading and took advantage of poor communication about their obligatory 2 hour inspection policy which I found out when I picked up my van cost me $450 including tax. I simply asked them to time and adjust the idle on my 1984 Vanagon. This was a simple ask and I never got the issue resolved or diagnosed by them. When I set up the appointment, to get me in, they said they would do a safety inspection and I heard them say it would be $210 (but that was the hourly for a 2 hour inspection). When I got the call from them the next day they read off a list of 35 things my car needed, 95% of which I am already aware of (I have done the restoration). They did nothing but an inspection, and then call me to try and bleed me for more work and cash. They did not even look at the timing. The excuse was my "vacuum hoses are not right and the new distributor is wrong for the van." I will be looking into both of those last two to confirm, but I have my doubts. The whole point of their "safety" inspection is to make a $2,000 job out of a $250 job. My point here is they focused on an inspection I did not need and ignored fixing and diagnosing the problem. "I think your vacuum lines and distributor are wrong" is not a diagnosis; this was not part of the "inspection". I guess I was naive to think they would actually do what needed done, like any honest shop would do. I'm sure my $450 could have gone a long way into fixing my actual problem. I walked away livid not wanting to be screwed and further without even a diagnosis of what my timing problem is. I asked for specific work and they did a costly safety inspection that I did not need. Maybe they actually do good work, I will never know. I will pass this bad review on to family, friends and other local car enthusiasts.
