Great service, very friendly, knowledgable mechanics. Dennis is great to work with and the owner, Kevin, is very kind! You're not going to find a better shop anywhere in town, I promise. There is a reason you see other reviews for this shop that have customers that have been coming to them for years! The labor rates are reasonable and they take the time to explain, and show you the issue. They're HONEST, and are not going to sell you a bunch of extra services you don't need, and they actually care about the work they do. I can tell you these things with the utmost confidence. I'm not a mechanic by any means, but I am mechanically inclined and can do some repairs myself. The hours of labor they quoted for the the repair were done by the actual amount of time it took them to do the job. My entire experience here was good. They are quick and direct. I'm from out of town and while visiting my car suddenly died. I took it here for diagnosis on the recommendation of friends who have been to a few area shops. The problem wasn't exactly minor but within days they had me back on the road. An added challenge is that I have a DUI blow-and-go breathalyzer, and finding a shop that will even see the car can be hard, but these guys took it and made it clear they can't service breathalyzers but can check and fix mechanical issues. Within a day or two they found the problem (it wasn't the breathalyzer) and called me with a repair estimate. At the time their shop rate was $100/hr - in my opinion fair for skilled work. I gave them the go-ahead, they took a deposit of half and ordered the parts, which arrived in only a day or two and the next day I was ready to go. read more

I hate car repairs, or at least the charges related to car repairs. Twice I have brought one of my cars in for repairs. Twice I have been amazed with the quality and honestly of service. I brought my 07 Suburban in for a possible oil pump replacement. Initially I thought I figured the problem out. I replaced the sensor and had the engine light reset but to no avail. I brought my vehicle to Expert Auto Repair and they were up front with costs, and informed me of the accurate ways to test the oil pressure before considering an oil pump replacement which is very costly. In the end, the sensor I installed was an older model and it was replaced with an oil change to boot by Expert Auto Repair. Great communication and service! My cars fan and fan belt was making a horrible noise. I used to have a neighborhood mechanic friend who was a master mechanic and would hook me up for cheap but apparently he went on a crack bender and hasn't been seen since. ( nice guy hope hes alright). But now I was forced to find a repair shop and after doing a search on my phone for shops in close proximity I landed on Expert Auto repair. So I brought my ride in and was told they will call within a half hour after checking it out. Waited an hour and never got the call. So I returned to Expert Auto in person and dude said "oh ya I was just getting ready to call ya". I got the old "well I have good news and bad news" routine. He said the good news is we found out what's wrong. ( I'm thinking wow a company that repairs vehicles actually diagnosed the problem? That is good news for them.) But then he says the bad news its gonna be expensive. He said that my AC compresser needs replacement and that he will type up a quote for repair and call me....waiting again. So dude calls and tells me the total cost is $910.00 to replace my AC compresser and he couldn't do it until Thursday ( its Tuesday)...Admittedly I don't know alot about cars but that seemed a bit high. So I called around and my buddy told me about a place in Yelm called TKs. I called them and told them what I needed. TK says let me call on part prices. He called me back 5 minutes later and said we can do it for $500.00 even. TK was a man of his word. He did it for 500 and it was ready the next morning. How crazy is it that I was quoted for $910.00 at Expert. And actually paid $500.00 at TKs?! I will always go to TKs for now on. Facts. read more

As a recent SF Peninsula transplant one of the first things that I did here in Lacey was to find an independent auto repair shop that I could entrust our 3 cars with. With this establishment we have found the right place and right people. Although it was a few months after going in to introduce myself I called to have some electrical repairs done on my Mustang. Dennis and Hoyt were more than accommodating and had the repairs done quickly, expertly, and at a very reasonable charge. These guys are awesome. We moved here from chicago and were dreading having to find an honest mechanic all over again. The outward appearance of the shop is modest, in an industrial park with minimal signage but they excel where it counts which is in service and expertise. Hoyt explained to me that they are not open on weekends because they're family men who reserve that time for their families which I thought was very cool in this day and age where productivity is valued above all else, here's an employer that values his employees needs as well. The oil change was quick, about 44 minutes or so. I walked around the corner to Jim Bob's Chuck Wagon for breakfast and by the time I got back my car was ready. Not only did they change the oil & filter, they topper off the washer fluid and inspected the car for other issues. They even had free coffee, calendars and candy. By and far the most honest group of mechanics this side of the country. I was on my way down to a wedding in Portland from Seattle when I had some overheating woes on my wrangler. A quick yelp search brought me here. Gave these guys a call, gave them my symptoms and the best self diagnosis I could give. I had just over 2 hours to budget and still be on time for the wedding. They squeezed me in, ran a block pressure check, tested my radiator cap, and gave me a few tips and tricks along the way. Ultimately they spent nearly an hour of diagnosing. At the end of the day I paid $18.50 to have my issue patched up enough to make it to Portland; and my tech gave me all my next steps in getting my issue entirely resolved. (He also called me into the bay every step of the way to be apart of the process; as someone who has maintained my Jeep self sufficiently this was huge!) Honest Fair rates Personable Timely Normally I would say pick one, but they have all of the above in my book. My 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo stopped running as if it was running out of fuel but the tank was full...I had it towed to Expert Auto Repair. When I picked it up, Dennis handed me the invoice. My jaw dropped. It showed $0!!! So what had happened was that the connection to the fuel pump was lose. They re-attached it, added extra support so it won't happen again and did not charge me. One of the scariest aspects of moving is the ability to find the right auto repair shop. The last place I went to was family ran, amazing, and I never thought I would be able to find another repair shop like it. I was wrong. After reading MANY reviews from Yelpers (Thank you), I found the reviews for Expert Auto Repair to be the best, so I went for it. I was fully prepared to get screwed over, as that is what many auto repair shops set out to do. I was not. They are a very friendly staff that really listens to you, which is of crucial importance. I needed my rotors replaced, my charging system inspected (battery wouldn't hold a charge) and safety inspection done. He wrote it all down in front of me and took my number, which I then had him reconfirm the number to insure it's accuracy. He did happily and I left. I didn't get a call until the end of the next business day and was told that he wrote down the number in a way that made it look like another number and apologized (the only bad thing that happened). He told me it took 2 hours to get the rotors replaced because they were rusted on bad. That was my fault as I neglected the car for a few months, so I was just happy they were able to get them off. They also charge $100 for labor if you bring in your own parts (some do and some do not, so take that in consideration). So two hours was $200 for that. Also, the safety inspection was good besides one brittle serpentine belt and I agreed to replace that ($52). He later told me it took them over 3 hours to find the right belt because Honda changed their belts, but I was not charged a cent for that effort. There was a draw in the system he notified me, but it wasn't the charging system itself. He said their specialist would need around an hour to diagnose what the draw was and asked if I would like to pursue this and I said yes. He said it would be done the next morning. I got a call saying the car was good to go and that it was my aftermarket auto-start system that was causing the draw and was charged $75 for that. I picked up the car, he notified me everything that had occurred and I was thinking there was going to be some outrageous cost of the hours it took to work on the vehicle, but in the end ran me just under $400. Other companies would have charged extra labor costs as well as other hidden costs ect... this company did not, was very honest about the work done and only charged what they should have. I am very happy to have found a new auto repair shop and I hope they get more excellent reviews for their work. read more

Excellent service, competitive pricing. From the initial phone conversation to paying the final bill, our experience was excellent. The shop is large, very well organized, and about as clean as an auto repair garage can be. From the neat and tidy waiting area, there are two large windows which look out into the shop so you can watch all work being done. I brought my work vehicle in for what I thought was a failing fuel pump. They were very thorough and asked me several questions to make sure that they understood all of the symptoms my vehicle was displaying, as to make sure they got to the root of the true root of the problem. After diagnosis, they called to let me know the issues lied elsewhere than the fuel pump. All of the problems were explained in detail, and I was given options as to what I would like them to do. I went ahead and authorized the work and was given a price before the work was performed (very important). This is an outstanding shop! I'm glad to see that their hidden location hasn't hurt them- they've been in business 12 years. Do yourself a favor and make your decision of which shop to choose based on customer reviews, not based on which shop has the most visible location. Battery died had to get the car towed. I showed up 10 minutes before they closed. Not only did they jump my car (the tow truck cables were broken!) but they stayed late to change out the battery. On top of that they vacuumed they floor boards and gave me a tour of a sweet ride on the rack while the team worked on it. They could've charged me an arm and a leg - but they were honest and incredibly friendly. The price was right and the customer service was over the top. I had a really bad experience here. They ordered a new AC compressor for my car, and I arrived to have the work completed at 8am. After walking around the area for an hour with my young child, assuming that they had started doing the work, they called and said that they had mistakenly sent back the newly ordered part earlier in the week. They said I needed to reschedule for the next week. NO apology was made until I made it quite clear that I was frustrated with the inconvenience. I rescheduled for the next week. I then dropped the car off one morning the next week and was told they would call when the work was completed. I was also told it could take 2-3 hours. After 4 and a half hours without a call I finally went back to the repair shop because I had run out of things to do in the area. They handed me my keys soon after I walked in. I asked if the car work had just been completed because I never received a call. I was told that the work had been completed within the 2-3 hour timeframe, and he had simply forgot to call me. He proceeded to discuss how sometimes things get so busy that he has to prioritize and things get missed. Apparently having a customer walking around for 2 extra hours waiting on a car that is already completed is not a priority in the eyes of this business. I just can't believe that they would try to explain the non-call by expounding upon the fact that I wasn't a priority. He again was not really apologetic. For this awful customer service and inconvenience I was offered about $20 in discounts on a nearly $800 bill. The $800 is about what was quoted originally. read more

Mr.Rick was in charge of our minivan and he did a wonderful job of fixing the brakes and oil change as well as tire rotation. We know our brakes needed work but it was actually so bad that the front one was basically just done. They quoted us a very reasonable price and had both brakes replaced the same day. I have been to this shop several times. On my fifth venture there I was shocked when they billed me approximately three times what I was quoted to simply change two belts. Furthermore, I was stunned by Hoyt's rude and patronizing treatment toward me when I attempted to explain something to him. I was previously informed that one might encounter abrupt and arrogant behavior from either one of the fellas who take the cars in however I chose to have my own experience. Horrible experience!! A year ago my car had started shaking and I took it to Expert Auto to have it looked at. They told me that two of my motor mounts needed to be replaced. They replaced them and then i drove for awhile and noticed my car was still shaking. I took it back the next day and they then told me that the mechanic that had looked at it the previous day had somehow missed that the other two needed to be replaced as well. They replaced the other two motor mounts and the car still continued to shake. I took it to a different mechanic and they told me that the motor mounts were probably put on incorrectly but they couldn't be positive unless they took everything apart. So i went back in to Expert Auto and asked them to look at the motor mounts again and they then told me that it was my harmonic balancer, not the motor mounts. They replaced that part and I told them my car was still shaking. The mechanic drove the car and then told me that because of the type of car (Dodge Neon) it was going to be shaking (even though it hadn't been shaking before this problem). At that point I had spent over $1000 and decided that I could not spend anymore money on them guessing what could be the problem. Now a year later, my front car shakes worse than it did a year ago. I took my car to a new mechanic (not expert auto) and they told me that my motor mounts were completely damaged and they were not done correctly. I called Expert Auto and they told me that the motor mounts were not under warranty so there was nothing they could do but I could bring it in if I wanted to have them look at my car. Now I'm having to get my motor mounts fixed a year later because Expert Auto does not know what they are doing. read more
