Anyone who put low starts on this... get out. I have been to many bbq spots including expensive places and this was by far the best rib. The meat on the ribs came off so nicely it was soft, not one little bit of meat was left on the bone. Cartilage was so soft, those bbq beans they recommended me to get was the best decision. The Mac n cheese was immaculate and those links were mmmmmm so good! That bread??? Even that complimented this meal so much. I had left overs and was never so happy to re eat a meal. So today I decided to treat my Fishbone crew out for some BBQ because it was labor day weekend. Looked up some bbq joints in Compton and decided to give this one a try and let me tell you that it did not disappoint. I ordered the family feast option 1 and it was plenty to feed my crew of 5 for the day. It came with a whole rack of ribs, a whole bbq chicken, 6 hot links and 3 large sides. I asked for some extra bbq sauce and they said they usually charge for it but she took care of it and comped it this time. I tried the spicy bbq sauce and that sauce was bomb.com. All the bbq that we got had such a smoky flavor. I haven't had this kind of smokey flavor in Cali. Last time I tasted bbq that had this intense smokey flavor was in Texas where they do bbq best. My wife & I thought we'd go to "4 J's" and order a 1/2 pork slab with sides,to go... "4 J's" is now Johnson Bros BBQ( surprise!) but we went ahead and ordered anyway. (MISTAKE!) 1 The membrane had not been removed from the pork slab so,it ended up sticking onto the bone and leaving what almost appeared to be a yellow,transparent sheet of plastic wrap attached. 2 The side orders should be labeled "extra small" as they were barely enough to share. The beans were way too sweet! and the potato salad looked almost as if it had been ran through a processor (blender) . We don't live very close to Johnson Brother's BBQ, but my boyfriend and I just came by for the fourth time, and again it did not disappoint. Excellent portions for the price, and solid sides to accompany meat that is always tender. We've been greeted with a smile each time we've come by, and we always feel like welcomed guests. Ordered the triple up with beans , mac and cheese, and paid for an extra side of potato salad to pick up before heading to the drive in theater to only be disappointed. NO barbecue sauce was in my pick up order, NO potato salad, and NO utensils. The employee helping me even asked me to wait for bbq sauce and I did. I enjoy the BBQ but they really need to work on the wait time after ordering, every time I place a order I get told 10 to 15 min wait time ending up being a 30 to 45 min wait with the same excuse on why it's taking the order to long. If you know the problem fix it so it's not a continuous ongoing issue. read more

Given all dark meat. A leg smaller than a rib tip and a thigh not much bigger. Neither I could try as I can't eat dark meat. The reason being the greasier dark meat upsets my stomach. Had the regular bbq sauce. Delicious. Great portions but for the chicken. Actually regretted not getting extra greens. Drove 3 hrs total for this meal.
