First off, I tried this place because it came up as a recommended spot to try. I tried it, ehh. When you look online they have the menu listed regular week and Tuesday through Friday menu. The Tuesday through Friday menu is basically the same only $5 or $6 less for some plates. Naturally when I ordered and UncleDaddy said $20 I said it states the price is $13 for a two meat combo on Friday... I paid the $20, which technically was against the law. Anyway the food. The chicken was okay, not that tender but good enough. The string beans were mushy and tasted like they were soaked in vinegar no other seasoning added of any kind. I went here to try them for the very first time, there was no waiting in line. I stood at the window to order and after a few minutes, a man in the back told me he was preparing three dinners and he would be with me shortly. I waited approximately 10 to 15 minutes he never came to the window to take my order. Therefore, I walked away. In business, you always acknowledge the person in your presence: you take that order and you get that money then you work on those other orders! The food was unappetizing in its entirety. The ribs tasted as though they had been cooked a day or two prior and reheated in the microwave with an unimpressive barbecue sauce. Furthermore, the macaroni and cheese did not resemble the picture. It lacked cheese and seasoning, rendering it distasteful. The potato salad was equally unimpressive. I am uncertain whether the establishment was experiencing a bad day or if the regular culinary staff were absent. However, the food was undeniably disgusting. The most satisfactory aspect of my meal was the piece of white bread provided, which was even slightly stale. Ordered a two-meat combo consisting of ribs and links, with double mac & cheese for my sides. I was dismayed to find two spareribs in my $23.00 order; I didn't stutter, two. The mac & cheese was...different. The pasta was overcooked and bathed in a liquidy cheese sauce that tasted like Whiz. The links were OK. Thr food was barely lukewarm, verging on cold. I tasted no smoke nor was there any emanating from the kitchen; that's always a red flag. My fault for choosing to proceed with ordering. This was more like a lunch portion than a dinner meal. Service was non-existent. I don't need a fake display but a greeting wouldn't be too much to ask for. Both the young lady taking my order and the woman making it appeared to be miserable. I dont understand the bad reviews fr. As someone thats born nd raised LA they food fire. Got the chicken platter with mac n cheese and baked beans on the side and peach cobbler. Chicken is 10/10 got flavor nd comes right off the bone. Baked beans 10/10 the sauce was immaculate nd flavored. Mac n cheese 6/10 only because there was more noodles than cheese, but the parts that had cheese were fire and would of easily made it 10/10 with more cheese. They were out of Mac n cheese and when I asked if I could add on corn bread to my order a black guy inside the establishment (I'm assuming he's the owner) sarcastically said "well I guess you ain't getting no corn bread then" since I didn't order "greens" with my meal. South central is known for it's hole in the wall businesses. The day I made my purchase they had just opened. I asked for the four piece chicken meal with green beans and Mac n cheese. When I got back to work to eat my meal I noticed that the chicken had been separated from the bones and upon tasting it I noticed that it was well over cooked and hard to chew.The Mac n cheese was more like seasoned pasta with some cheese in it.
