4++ Feels like one of those old school neighborhood BBQ spots that has been around for a long time. The people here are friendly and helpful and the prices weee reasonable especially considering how expensive BBQ is these days. The structure itself feels like kind of an old timey shack. To my knowledge, it didn't look like there was any seating available so it's more of Just a takeout place. The menu is pretty straightforward with your barbecue classics like ribs, brisket, and tri tip, etc. and classic sides. I was in the mood for some saucy barbecue so I got an order of the ribs lunch. For my sides I got the mac & cheese as well as the collard greens. I thought the sides were well seasoned without being overly salty. The ribs were also prepared really well as they had a nice bite to them, but they fell off the bone pretty easy. The sauce had a great flavor to it. I'm a big fan of neighbourhood spots like this so glad I stopped by to grab some lunch here. Definitely not close to where I live, but if I'm in the area, definitely on my rotation.

OMG Johnson's BBQ !! What kind of giant rib tips you serving ?? And why is the bread crumbling??? And where you buying your chicken links ?? Please stop buying them from there !! Wow waste of money. The sauce is good though.

Plain wings. Your standard size, slightly breaded and fried. Pretty good, no complaints.
Jameson D.

Ordered in person around their opening time. Asked for 20 wings and they told me to come back in about 25 minutes as the ovens were still heating up. Cashier lady was super friendly about it all. About $40 for wings and a large side, which is about your normal price for BBQ these days. To the people complaining about things being cold or out of stock, maybe put on some clothes and go order it yourself like a grown adult and stop ordering BBQ at closing time. Of course they ran out of food. You ordered at 9pm on a Sunday.

BBQ was ok but not in the same park as robert earls. I got the three-meat combo with links, ribs and tri trip. Sides i got mac and cheese with beans and a side of potato salad which were good. The prices are great for what you get here. There is no inside seating, just pick up. I must admit the ribs were pretty dry. The sausage was ok and tri tip below average. I wish they had the brisket because that's what i really wanted over the tri-tip. I think overall its ok but too many other good BBQ places in LA IMO. Not good enough to make me come back. Mac and cheese 8.7/10 Beans 8.3/10 Sausage 7.9/10 Ribs 7.8/10 Potato salad 7.7/10 Tri-tip 7.0/10

My first time there unfortunately it was out of heat ribs, but it's OK cause they substituted to my liking amazing Customer Service the young lady was really nice and they took really good care of me. I recommend this place. Check it out if you haven't had it.

Small place and well worth the trip from SGV. Too bad, couldn't dine in!!!

I ordered a rib dinner with Mac & cheese and baked beans. Everything was really good. The ribs were well seasoned & juicy. Gave nice sized portions. I ordered on DoorDash so not sure about the service and ambiance. I would go back

The ribs and links (which is what I always get) are really good. The sides not to much. Greens and mac n cheese are terrible.

We also ordered the ube Basque cheesecake, and it was easily one of the best desserts I've had recently--rich, creamy, and not too sweet. Our server, Sergio, made the experience even better. After enduring weeks of record breaking heat in Long Beach, this was the perfect place to land as the Summer Breeze... Makes Me Feel Fineeee again. A very well but gently lit space that still feels cozy and spacious. The outside gives no indication of how well the inside has been designed. Great for lunch or dinner dates. Noise level was low and there's no feeling of a chaotic restaurant environment. Food/Service 1-5: 4.8 I order the shrimp and lobsters fettuccine, bone marrow as an appetizer. My company ordered the lamb burger. All dishes we beautifully plated; true works of art. Neither of us had any complaints about presentation and creativity. As far as taste and as excited as we were to dig in to our food, the ONLY setback was the lack of seasoning mainly salt. I'm aware that a Chef does their best to meet the expectations of their guest. I'm also aware that meeting everyone's expectations is impossible. To confirm my advice of needing some salt in the food I patrons the restaurant twice, two days in a row. The food needs more salt and I stand solid on that opinion. The service was great and I thanked Mel for taking such great care of us. Mel is a rockstar! Diversity score 1-5: 4 The restaurant definitely appeals to diverse crowds. It reminded of the days I frequented Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster in Harlem, NY. Go again score 1-5: 5, Absolutely. I do hope I don't have to keep bothering the server for salt and pepper.

Just a couple of weeks ago, my friends and I were considering our options for where to have brunch to celebrate one of our friend's retirement. Toast was one of the names I dropped in the metaphorical hat, and it won the vote of a few. My friends were surprised that I had named a spot I hadn't yet tried since I'm usually the "foodie" of the group. However, another girl in the group who had been here before vouched for it. I'm glad I finally got to try this place this past weekend, and I cannot wait to return! There were so many things on their menu that I wanted to try. A couple of the ladies ordered green chilaquiles, the friend we were celebrating ordered the Spanish Omelet, another woman I'd met that day had the bacon and eggs, another one ordered the Biscuits and grave with a side of bacon that looked perfectly crispy. I wish I had taken pictures of the plates as it all looked so lovely! I didn't even take a picture of my own food haha. I had my eyes on an omelet, one of the Benedicts or the Chicken n Waffle. In the end, the chicken and waffle won. It comes served with a little container of maple syrup with bacon pieces. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffle was delicious, though I did request for some extra syrup on the side. To drink, a few ladies ordered mimosas, one ordered an iced caramel coffee, and I ordered the Carajillo. I fell in love with this drink last summer in Mexico and do not often see it on the menu. I love the subtle citrus notes the Licor 43 adds to this espresso drink. It is very similar to an espresso martini, and theirs comes topped with a toasted marshmallow. I honestly wanted to try almost every item in their Tipsy Barista section of their drinks. I'll just have to come back that many more times :) Plenty of parking in the mall lot. It does get pretty packed during peak hours. Fortunately I had called ahead to put our group of 6 down. We went in on Saturday around 11:30. It slowed down a bit while we were eating, but started to get busy again after 1. Otherwise, we might have been forced to honor their 90-minute rule. All in all, a great experience from everyone in our group. No complaints on the wait, service or food. That certainly deserves a toast. Great job, Toast!

But if you have the budget and want to treat yourself to a nice brunch, I'd 100% recommend giving this place a try. Great food, great drinks, excellent service, and an awesome brunch atmosphere. Definitely made my birthday feel special!

Anyhow, my family and I were driving back home after participating in a hiring event for my son (first paid job -- so proud of him!) We were greeted by " The Los Angeles Gentlmen" motorcycle club -- couldn't have been nicer! Then we walked in and were greeted warmly by the owner and his daughter, Cheryl. We were immediately seated and made comfortable. Cheryl took our orders and could not have been nicer/friendlier. Very spacious and cute atmosphere. Ordered and after a little bit of a wait (Due to food made to order BTW!) I had the absolute best chicken and waffles ever. IT WAS A 1/2 CHICKEN seasoned to perfection -- flavorful and juicy! My wife's flaky French toast came with fresh, sweet fruit--not canned--which was a nice touch. Our waiter was very kind and attentive. I'd think, "There's a spot in my own neighborhood I can eat at without driving to Downey or Downtown LA." But for some reason it was never my first thought. I think it's because when I'm going out to eat, I usually want to escape my own area. Today I finally gave it a try, and I was sincerely impressed. I walked in and was greeted right away. I asked a few questions about the menu and requested a substitute, and I didn't get any weird looks or pushback, which honestly happens more often than you'd think in 2026. The walls had beautiful artwork, and my server, Kevin, was fantastic. He checked in every few minutes to make sure I had everything I needed, and it felt genuine, not like he was just going through the motions for a tip or a paycheck. You can tell the difference. I ordered the horchata French toast with fresh fruit and a lavender latte, and the presentation was next level, the kind of plating you'd expect in Beverly Hills, Century City, or parts of Polanco, Mexico. It was beautiful, the food was excellent, and I was taken care of every step of the way. I'm writing this review because this place deserves to be seen and deserves to keep growing. I'm not compensated in any way, shape, or form, this comes straight from the heart. If you've been sleeping on this place, give it a try. It's not in the flashiest part of LA, and I'm okay with that since I live in the area, but once you step inside, you're transported somewhere else entirely. Don't sleep on this place. Give them a shot and you'll find yourself coming back sooner than you expected.
