Wow soo much goodness here from cakes, pies and tasty food. The place is nice. Located behind the compton court area in the same parking lot as popeyes chicken you will find this gem of a place. I came early around lunch time and got the fried pork chop dinner with mac and cheese, patoto salad and red beans and rice. Chops were cooked nice and crispy. You get two chops in the dinner plate and one for the lunch plate. Also added peach cobbler and a lemonade they make fresh at the location. Everything tasted good. *warning, right off the bat, you can't be starving when you order, the wait for food is quite long. They don't take phone orders or online orders on the weekend. My bf was craving catfish and I had just watched a TT video the week prior raving about their chicken and catfish, so that's why we tried it. Didn't care for it. The food is bland. The Mac was cheese less. The cabbage was almost clear and not for me. The wings were missing a piece, the cornbread tasted like it was once frozen and reheated and honestly this whole dinner at this quick serve restaurant ("QSR") was just not worth it. The attitude of the owners daughter was terrible. No personality. My companion ordered peach cobbler which is served cold. He requested it to be warmed. They refused. He wanted it warmed in a non plastic container. This peach cobbler was $9. She offered to heat it up but charge $1 for the box. Hahahahah! We just paid $60+ for lackluster food and are insulted by a $1 extra to warm up the dessert. He returned it. She sent it back in a bag by her cashier who said nothing when she put it on the table next to us. He asked her to please take it and refund it. The owners daughter refused. He politely advised that by law she had to refund it. She finally did. I would NEVER return here again. NEVER. UPDATE: To the owner: You did come out front to rearrange the desserts and we did interact and you were unpleasant. No smile. No hello. You should stay in the kitchen. The place itself was very well-maintained, clean, well decorated, and inviting. A group of us went there and ordered their lunch specials, which we found to be a bit pricey considering the portion size. We ordered the chicken wing lunch special, and was very disappointed when we were not given the whole wing...the drumsticks part of the wing was cut off of every piece...maybe because it was the lunch special? The service was okay...a lot of yelling going on when calling orders out to the kitchen. What I thought was a bit much was when some lady came out of the kitchen to yell at a customer to close the front door, because she doesn't feel like chasing flies! While understandable, there could have been a better way for her to ask the customer to close the door. Lastly, they made it very clear to clean up after yourself, as there was no table service available. Updated review: Based on the owner's response, she's correct! I came for the Carmel cake because i haven't had one since Carolyn's kitchen and they did not disappoint. My daughter ordered the strawberry something cake which was better in my opinion and my nephew had the cobbler he said he wish it was more crust it was too much sugar and peaches. Overall the service was good the cashier told me when it's best to order because there is a wait as they cook to order . I will be back to try there food . I came down to try this place because I wanted some good soul food considering I haven't had any in a long time so I decided I would try this place. But the food was so bad. I got the fried chicken which that was actually tasty and that was the only thing that was edible on my plate. So one star for that! I really enjoyed eating here. I had the catfish filet entree and was blown away by the flavor. It is definitely worth the wait. I had the red beans and rice on the side. It was sooooo good. I want some more. The food is so delicious, I can't wait to go back. The service is excellent. The cashier was so sweet and nice. He was doing it all and with a smile. I loved the ambiance but it's not really made for sitting down for long. Don't get me wrong it is a very beautiful set up but it is tight. It is designed for small groups of maybe two to four but nothing larger. All the desserts looked so good and fresh. I wish I had tried one oh them but I will make it my mission next time to do so.
