*warning, right off the bat, you can't be starving when you order, the wait for food is quite long. They don't take phone orders or online orders on the weekend. My bf was craving catfish and I had just watched a TT video the week prior raving about their chicken and catfish, so that's why we tried it. Fish was tasty the pieces were small though. Sides were good. I also ordered a peach cobbler, my bf said it wasn't great, a bit watery... will have to try it again while dining in. Didn't care for it. The food is bland. The Mac was cheese less. The cabbage was almost clear and not for me. The wings were missing a piece, the cornbread tasted like it was once frozen and reheated and honestly this whole dinner at this quick serve restaurant ("QSR") was just not worth it. The attitude of the owners daughter was terrible. No personality. My companion ordered peach cobbler which is served cold. He requested it to be warmed. They refused. He wanted it warmed in a non plastic container. This peach cobbler was $9. She offered to heat it up but charge $1 for the box. Hahahahah! We just paid $60+ for lackluster food and are insulted by a $1 extra to warm up the dessert. He returned it. She sent it back in a bag by her cashier who said nothing when she put it on the table next to us. He asked her to please take it and refund it. The owners daughter refused. He politely advised that by law she had to refund it. She finally did. I would NEVER return here again. NEVER. UPDATE: To the owner: You did come out front to rearrange the desserts and we did interact and you were unpleasant. No smile. No hello. You should stay in the kitchen. We should have left but his order was already placed. I prefer to patronize businesses represented by owners who have grace and are happy to have customers. We were highly excited to try your place. A group of us went there and ordered their lunch specials, which we found to be a bit pricey considering the portion size. We ordered the chicken wing lunch special, and was very disappointed when we were not given the whole wing...the drumsticks part of the wing was cut off of every piece...maybe because it was the lunch special? The service was okay...a lot of yelling going on when calling orders out to the kitchen. What I thought was a bit much was when some lady came out of the kitchen to yell at a customer to close the front door, because she doesn't feel like chasing flies! While understandable, there could have been a better way for her to ask the customer to close the door. Lastly, they made it very clear to clean up after yourself, as there was no table service available. Updated review: Based on the owner's response, she's correct! They only have wings when it comes to chicken and I'm a breast person and this is my second attempt to eat here the first time I went, even though the hours were supposed to be open they weren't but I finally did get some fish some candy yams and some macaroni and cheese. Super cute place. The decor is cozy. Dine in only available until lunchtime and they close at 5pm which is painful. Food was over all good. The fried catfish HELLA GOOD. I was in the area and had Alma's bookmarked on places to try. I'm glad I stopped by. Upon entry the decor was so modern and welcoming. It was very clean and the ventilation system was doing a great job I didn't smell anything frying. I got the catfish mac n cheese greens and corn bread muffin. Saw an interview where the owner contributed loss of business to a celebrity doing a pop-up event in the area, but it honestly baffled me because the restaurant is almost never open and when you do catch it open, they never have what you're trying to order, etc. there's always something with this place . I took my mom here for bday lunch 4/11/25 The girl at the register was rude ASF! We waited 45-1hr to get our food we were order 14. I sat down for about 20min when a rush of ppl came in the door. I came for the Carmel cake because i haven't had one since Carolyn's kitchen and they did not disappoint. My daughter ordered the strawberry something cake which was better in my opinion and my nephew had the cobbler he said he wish it was more crust it was too much sugar and peaches. Overall the service was good the cashier told me when it's best to order because there is a wait as they cook to order . I will be back to try there food . I came down to try this place because I wanted some good soul food considering I haven't had any in a long time so I decided I would try this place. I really enjoyed eating here. I had the catfish filet entree and was blown away by the flavor. It is definitely worth the wait. I had the red beans and rice on the side. It was sooooo good. I want some more. The food is so delicious, I can't wait to go back. The service is excellent. The cashier was so sweet and nice. He was doing it all and with a smile. I loved the ambiance but it's not really made for sitting down for long. Don't get me wrong it is a very beautiful set up but it is tight. It is designed for small groups of maybe two to four but nothing larger. All the desserts looked so good and fresh. I wish I had tried one oh them but I will make it my mission next time to do so. This place is such a gem. I genuinely don't know what these other reviews are saying about the sides. The red beans and rice was very good but the yams? Ive never thought much of yams but these changed a lifelong opinion for me. They were perfectly cooked and perfectly sweet. The turkey chops are addictively good and well seasoned. The lunch plates are incredibly affordable for the amount and quality of food I received. That in itself was impressive but the quality of the desserts? Oh my lord the 7up cake is perfection. The lemon cake is moist and one of the best I've had. Peach cobbler will be a hit or miss for people depending on how much they like cinnamon/all spice flavors but that's on personal preference, not quality. There's a very clear sign that says to clean up after yourself. I would be frustrated too if I was running a business at this level and affordability, only to receive rude reviews about not being "served" properly. The amazing food was only matched by the hospitality and kindness of the staff. Service is so personable and made me want to come back again and again, which I will! The super kind cashier wished everyone a lovely day and the owner (I think) was so welcoming. I could see why all the customers besides me were people who had been here multiple times before. Cozy, immaculately clean, and so comforting. I will definitely be back to try the sides that ran out today, especially the dressing! and the 7up cake which I am sincerely grateful was recommended to us.
