This was my first time there, and I can tell they were sitting for a while. Fries were soggy and drenched in oil. Definitely not freshly made. I have known this lady for at least 20 years! We go back to her being on central at the original snack shack location. It's a super small and quaint place. Just like the original shack. Only thing missing is the black history posters (iykyk). While the burgers have changed from the original location that hot relish is the closest thing to the original location. If you are in the Compton area definitely try this south central staple. Support small businesses they definitely need your help in these trying times. read more

I tried this place yesterday after seeing it on Yelp. I placed a phone order. Customer service was extremely good, and Mama was very helpful with helping me make a decision. I got the double pastrami burger (I should have gotten a single) and chili cheese fries on the side. The presentation of the food was really good, but the burger patty seemed a little dry and needed more seasoning. The pastrami was really good, not greasy, and the fries from the chili cheese fries needed a little more crunch; the fries seemed really soggy. Besides that, the food was pretty decent. I Had the pleasure of being able to have a snack shack burger back when they were in LA before they closed and it was delicious! I recently visited the location in Compton cause it popped on my tik tok and I was thrilled to try it again! I end up going a few days later and let me tell you it did not disappoint! The burger was really good and well seasoned! I got a small chili cheese fries and pastrami added to my cheese burger and easy relish because it is spicy. I ordered to go and there were a few people ahead of me and it took about 20-25 mins. I just sat in the car and waited. Side note: parking is minimal but if you go in the afternoon you might be able to park on the same side as the restaurant if you don't mind parallel parking. I didn't mind waiting because the little Hispanic lady who runs the joint is so sweet! Now, it is take out only but who cares lol! I took my burger home and plated it up and it devoured it. I work nearby so after finding Mama's through a few searches and learning about her business and the way she treats her customers, I knew I had to try the food. This place is probably one of the more unassuming places to grab a delicious burger in all of LA, not just Compton. Mama couldn't have been more kind in person, I ordered the Hot Link Burger only, and when I went to pick up my order she also said she gave me an order of fries to "try." Well, not only did I try them, but they slapppped. While I was waiting for my food she was greeting customers and making conversation. The food was hot and made fresh to order and was really delicious. Mama inspired me, especially in this hard time for all of Los Angeles, in a time where restuarants are closing, she's giving away food for her babies to try. Really great burgers! I got the double chili cheese burger with pastrami and hotlinks last time and it was literally the size of my head! Never seen a burger that big! The staff there is also super sweet and friendly. You can tell they care about their customers. One thing to keep in mind though is the wait times.
