I have seen so many positive reviews on Mei Mei so I thought it gotta be good! Hmmm I wasn't sure…read moreif it was just a bad day for the chef or the quality has gotten worse? But we were so disappointed with the quality of the food we couldn't even finish everything. So I got 2 lunch orders: rice with char siu and roast pork, and rice with roast duck and chicken. I also ordered half pound of beef trip to try. So this way we got to sample everything. At the end the only thing we enjoyed was the roast pork. The skin was crispy and meat had good flavor. The duck had too much fat. There was not much meat left after getting rid of the bones and the fat. The chicken was quite mushy. The texture just was not right probably because it wasn't too fresh? The char siu was probably one of the worst I have even had. It had so much tendon that there was not a single piece that we could even chew through it. And the beef tripe was soooooo salty. It was just very disappointing. It was relatively cheap though compared to other restaurants and they gave us a very big portion but I don't think I will go back given that there are places that sell better roast duck and char siu.

The brisket is so delicious, tender and juicy that you can cut it with a plastic fork. The pork ribs, pulled pork and sausage are equally as good. In addition, they have beef ribs on Fridays. The sides of baked beans, coleslaw and potato salad were also very, very tasty. Sunset Texas is a small place that spends its money on the cooking of great barbecue, best in Hawaii, not misspent on ambience. The service was also good. Give yourself a reward and go eat some great, true Texas style barbecue.

GET THE CORN BREAD!…read more Okay, now that the most important information is there...we loved this spot! The brisket plate was perfect for two meals. It falls apart as you're eating it in all the best ways. I regret not ordering it by the pound. The potato salad was a bit too mustardy for me but the cream corn was 10/10 I should've asked for it in a cup. My favorite part was the corn bread. I'm used to corn bread being dry and not my choice of a bbq side but I took a chance thanks to the employee hyping up all my food choices and tried it. The texture was more of a bread budding and was unbelievably delicious. I regret only getting one piece and not another one for the following day. I guess what I'm trying to say is, swing on by, order a little bit of everything and you'll leave a few pounds heavier and very happy.

The former name of Aloha Express is 99 Local Mix Plate. They used to be at Moanalua 99 food court/shopping center. The service is still cheerful and efficient. After I ordered the mini Garlic Ahi, the cashier said it's a better deal to get the special... ok! Later, she told me that they sold out of ahi and can give me mahimahi... ok! Thank you! The rice was ok and the macaroni salad had small bits of carrot and onion in it. I dined in because I was between meetings. I was able to observe the walk-in customers and see how the cashier interacted with everyone. She's really good because she remembers the regulars and their orders! I really enjoyed having a meal in this bright, clean, spacious restaurant. Note: It used to be a Mexican restaurant. It's situated in the corner of the plaza, near the stairs. Go find them!

Ishiyaki Bibimbap was so delicious, much much better than anywhere else, the best in Hawaii. Yakiniku meats were so fresh and tendered. We are so lucky we live close by. I want to try lunch menu too. Their recommendation " Omelet " I saw in IG. There are daily lunch specials available. And Happy Hour drinks serve during weekdays. We will be back very soon. Thank you so much.

I called again to say I needed 2 orders of the tonkatsu lunch special for takeout and there was a bit of confusion and he hung up again... I went after about 20min to go pick up the order. Confirmed my order was for 2 tonkatsu specials and paid. Then had to wait another 20 minutes to get it. I guess the phone order didn't do much besides give them a head's up that I was coming? When I got it, I was a little underwhelmed. The middle part of the katsu wasn't golden brown, so it could have been cooked a little more evenly. The katsu was quite good tho. Juicy and the panko on the outside was good. Good amount of rice and the kimchi tasted really good. I would try another lunch special again if I'm craving some Japanese food if I have the time to wait for the food. 3/5 for communication. 4.5/5 for food Limited street parking in the area.
