I am never disappointed with Yummys! This location specifically. It is on the 2nd floor of the Navy exchange surrounded by other spots at this food court. This Yummy's portion size is amazing which I am grateful for! We usually order the bbq chicken and then the bbq beef palate for a family of 4. If you say no rice, you could pick extra veggies which is a great deal. I love how the meals are nutritious and tasty. Service is always speedy and although they're not super friendly at this location, they are efficient. Cost is about $45 to feed a family of 4 and had left overs for lunch the next day! This particular Yummy Korean B-B-Q is located on the second floor of the Navy Exchange. There is a good sized food court here. I took my Dad out for Veteran's Day. He loves Korean BBQ. My Dad looked at the menu and he immediately asked for the spicy pork plate. You pick four sides with the plate lunch. He picked Choy sum, mayo-shoyu potatoes, kim chee and chop chae (glass noodles). The plate comes with white rice as well. Look at the pictures and you will see just how big this plate is! I'm not sure if my Dad was lucky today as this plate is the biggest amount I have ever seen! We have been to other Yummy locations. He enjoyed the spicy and savory pork. Depending on the piece, the pork was chewy and tender lol. Very tasty and the side dishes are freshly made and delicious. Service was great here. Tables and chairs are located throughout the food court. Employees cleans the area well here. Restrooms are available nearby. This is a good place for those using wheelchairs. Elevators are also available. Prices are reasonable for today's times. No complaints here. Iced water was also provided to us. This plate made two meals for my Dad. I even shared some of the meal. There are two Yummy BBQs in the NEX area. One is in Moanalua Shopping Center, and this one is inside the NEX foodcourt. Since we had to drop off something at UPS, my friend and I decided to try here. Meat Jun BBQ Beef combo - 4 stars - for $20.49, same price as the one in Moanalua SC, they give a lot more, They also have a spicy udon pan chan which no other Yummy's I've tried, to choose from among the regular ones. The Meat Jun was delicious, but the BBQ Beef was really salty, so it was hard to eat, thus the 4 stars. Service was average coming from a food court. Lots of parking since it is at the NEX. If I feel like eating at Yummy's while I'm in the area, I'll try here again. read more

Been off Island since 2012 and visited some of our old haunts- NEX & Yummy BBQ for lunch was one of them. Open seating foof-court with plenty of seating. Cashier was nice, smiled at my jokes (got a 3 1/2 to a 4). Been craving fish Jun & mac island style for a long long time. Yummy was okay, not the best, but okay. Price for what you get is okay. Why is it that after shopping it feels so tiring and sometimes hungry! We were are NEX shopping and I need to feed my stomach who by the way is hungry most of the time. Lol, so here I am had to grab quick eats! Mini Beef - came with a scoop of white rice, beef and a sides of cabbage & bean sprout. Beef is so tasty and seasoned well. Not even tough just cooked right. The sides are not overcooked and they got a good crunch on every bite. It was a delighted meal and my tummy is definitely the happiest. I paired it with itoen green tea which I kinda don't like coz it's way too bland. Lol. Service is good and the cashier is nice and patience towards me. If you are vegan this place has options for you. But keep this in mind: - One staff seemed not too interested in assisting with the menu or has not been educated on what vegan options are on the menu other than pointing out the veggie combo -We thought we knew what to order that's vegan when we saw "tofu soup". BE AWARE this is more like "tofu and pork soup" because there was also squared pork meat in it. Same staff we pointed this out looked confused when we explained there was pork in this tofu soup and if we could just get a tofu soup (otherwise it should have been labeled a "Combo" meal soup instead of just labeled Tofu Soup. After some back and forth, a really nice staff member went back to check with the chefs and they helped us and made a fresh tofu (and plant-based and cruelty-free) soup. The food was really good, but these mistakes can be avoided by just saying on the menu the ingredients the soup has lol. If it's meant to be a tofu+pork soup then just add that on the menu cause this could be an allergy lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I would Ordered the chicken katsu & meat jun mix plate And oh my god did they mess this up First of all the chicken katsu was rock hard and severely over cooked. There was barely any chicken in all that breading. It was like crunching gravel. And for some god forsaken reason, they put ALL end pieces of the katsu in my plate. Like just the end-side pieces of the katsu. Like they must've given other people the middle part of the katsu and given me the nasty burnt ends. I had maybe three pieces that were the middle and the rest was the ends bits? The meat jun came completely un-cut. You have to cut off pieces for yourself which is so weird compared to every other Korean place in the state that will cut your meat jun into strips for you. Not only that but for some reason, this jank location decided to serve you raw soy sauce as "meat jun sauce". Which is also completely different from every other Yummy's location??? I've honestly never received such insulting food in so long. Seriously, all burnt katsu ends? I will never be coming to this location again and will be warning anyone and everyone. read more

Headed out early for my haircut at the NEX so we could grab a bite beforehand. I ended up at Yummy Korean B-B-Q (Babe went to Popeyes LoL) I ordered the vegetable plate, (aunty at the register was so nice) right at $14 for 5 choices and I also ordered one additional side. (I really wanted the spicy udon!) I paid and moved on to choose my veggies. Aunty who made my plate was friendly and the portions were crazy big! I picked the Chinese broccoli, glass noodles, kimchi, cucumber kimchi, cabbage salad and spicy udon. The sides looked fresh and there seemed to be more oil than I though in them, but I attributed it to the bright lighting they had over the items. Again, the portions were very generous and the auntie's friendly! The oil on all the veggies though... it was way too much. The glass noodles were overrun with salt and sesame oil. The Chinese broccoli was swimming in oil and the cabbage salad was the same way. My udon was heavy on the oil, too. I had to blot my veggies folks... The kimchi was all right, but I don't think they make it there? More like it was bought premade and just served. Not terrible, just meh. I did like the l cucumber kimchi better than the cabbage. With the exception of the glass noodles the food was seasoned well and tasty. Wouldn't eat here again? Maybe if I were in a real pinch, but all that oil is a deal breaker. We've been coming to this location for years & they never disappoint. Picked up dinner on our way home from doing errands. Yummy Special My hubby had this plate. It's his go-to because it has a good sampling of BBQ & he always has a hard time deciding which plate to choose from so the Special works for him since he gets it all. But, he does let me take a sampling Since he's not a rice eater, he likes his 5 choices of sides. Normally it's just 4 if you have rice. Because it's a huge plate & his appetite has shrunk over the past year, this will last him about 3 meals. They give about 3 pieces of Kalbi, 2 big pieces of BBQ chicken thighs (skinless & boneless), & a generous serving of BBQ beef. The Kalbi had great flavor & was not overly salty. BBQ beef was tasty, not overly marinated, & the BBQ chicken was a little on the dry side from being close to being overcooked, but still had decent flavor. His sides were double corn, bean sprouts, potatoes, & mac salad. This place is pretty consistent with the quality and flavors of the food. Combo Meat Jun/BBQ Chicken My go-to at Yummy is usually the BBQ pork but that day, I was in the mood for meat Jun. I opted also for no rice with 5 side choices. They used to serve brown rice (for an additional cost) but no longer do, only white rice so I opted for none since I always have cooked brown rice at home. They give 2 huge pieces of meat Jun & 2 huge pieces of chicken. It was a big plate for me as well, & I also had leftovers for a 2nd meal. Meat Jun was probably the best I've had - meat was tender & not tough, covered with a tasty egg batter that leaned toward the sweet side, loved it The chicken as mentioned earlier, was a little dry but still had decent flavor. My sides were tofu (they give 2 good sized, seasoned pieces), choi sum, bean sprouts, seaweed salad. & cucumber Kim chi. It was a pretty good plate, it's easy to get full on delicious food. Overall service was good. They cook everything to order, except for the sides so if you go, plan on waiting about 10 - 15 minutes. They are easy to find & located on the 2nd floor of the Navy Exchange Mall in the food court, huge parking lot that does get busy. You don't need to be in the military to eat at the food court, it's open to the public. There are other Korean BBQ places around the area that serve good or even better food like Young's in Aiea or Kim Chee 7 in Westridge. As much as we like those places, they've really increased their menu prices so much, that it's like fine dining. This place used to be good but now it kinda went downhill. The rice is hard. We (me and the people around me) were waiting for over 20 minutes while anyone that didn't order anything fried got their food before us. The women that work there have become robots. They don't give you much more than a few napkins and if you ask for a share plate or more utensils they don't seem to want to give them to you. Most military post places will be more than happy and generously give you enough of what you need if you're going to share plates with your kids or other family members. Once we got a to go plate with the seaweed soup and they stacked two soups one on top of the other and the top one melted into the second. We didn't even make it to the car before it became a sloppy mess in the bag. They should learn how to pack to go bags better if they're going to use paper bowls for piping hot soup. Came to the Ala Moana Mall food court after a full day of shopping. A few other food options were already closed by 6pm, but Yummy Korean B-B-Q was still open and it was a great option for dinner. Their menu features different protein plates as well as noodles and soups, and their selection of veggies to choose from make it vegetarian-friendly. While the main entree plates generally come with 4 vegetables and 2 scoops of rice (white or brown), it is also possible to get a plate with no rice and instead have 5 scoops of vegetables. I got the fish jun plate, which is white fish pan-fried with an egg-flour batter. It took a bit longer of a wait than some other orders, but was so delicious! I got the vegetarian plate, which came with 2 scoops of rice, and 4 sides. I got the potatoes, cucumber kimchi, broccoli, and spinach. Everything tasted so good! The potatoes was a good mix of sweet and salty, with great soy sauce flavor. The cucumber kimchi was fresh and mild, which I appreciated because I can't eat spicy food. It's your typical yummy Korean BBQ location with over a dozen Korean vegetables to choose from and the usual grilled chicken , kalbi or meat or fish Jun selections. Service is fast and friendly. I went with a friend who was a big eater but I had a big breakfast so I just wanted a small snack. Fortunately I found out that you could just choose any vegetable and get a cup size portion for only $3.50. I love the wakame salad with cucumber so that was my choice for a healthy, cool, and refreshing snack. If you want a full vegetarian plate it would set you back about $11 for 5 choices but I wasn't that hungry.
