If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. I took my car here for a pre vehicle inspection and they told me "the car was perfect and that I should feel good about buying this car". They told me the only things wrong were minor cosmetic things. Two days after buying the car I found out from a different mechanic that the car had a multitude of problems that the mechanics at John's Auto Care had missed and that repairs to the car would be more than 4000 dollars. There was a light on the dashboard when I brought the car in and they didn't even bother addressing it or plugging in the scanner. I'll admit I don't know that much about cars which is why I thought I could trust a mechanic to tell me whether I was buying a car that was safe and wouldn't require more than half of what I paid in repairs. I would absolutely NOT recommend bringing a car you are thinking about purchasing to them. They were so nonchalant and careless with the assessment of my car and missed multiple HUGE issues that the other independent mechanic I saw assured me he would have caught. My biggest complaint is that there was a light on the dashboard that they didn't even address or bother to scan for or bring to my attention. I contacted the company to address my complaints and try to at the very least get a refund for the pre vehicle inspection and they were incredibly rude and unhelpful. PLEASE do not bring your car here for a pre vehicle inspection- they are uncaring and sloppy!! read more

Took it to batteries plus who said the batteries were good but it was probably the alternator - they said take it to John's Auto. John's said the batteries and alternator were good but I needed to leave it. After 6 days and me calling, they said they had to replace the batteries and change the fuel filters. Cost me $992.00. Long time multiple BMW owner and enthusiast here, first time customer at John's Auto Care. I had a tricky CAN buss (computer) problem and didn't have the diagnostic software or patience to resolve the fault, so I needed expertise. Jeff found the problem in a timely manner and recommended that the instrument cluster be sent out their preferred sub contractor, VDO repair; this was a BIG MISTAKE! Four weeks to get the cluster back! The initial problem was remedied, however; now the on-board clock cannot be set and the temp gauge pointer was installed incorrectly. I attempted to contact VDO, but apparently they have gone out of business. The repair work order indicated that the 'trouble codes' had been cleared, this was not the case. For example, I am at a loss to why a persistently malfunctioning 'check engine oil' idiot light on the cluster was not discussed. I know what the root of the problem is and would have agreed to a repair. I can only assume that John's does not want or need my business. Bottom line: the shop is very competent and focused but not particularly concerned about the timeliness or quality of the repair. I had incorrectly diagnosed the root of the problem and am very pleased that Jeff was ethical, truthful and accurate with the process, thus saving me a lot of money and frustration. read more

We recommend John's Auto Care Center highly. Luis, the service manager, was very accommodating with the short notice(we were passing through on our way to Washington), and did the fix very quickly. We had a leaking rear differential on our 2016 4x4 Sprinter. We tried the MB dealer in Medford first, but they're sprinter tech was out of town. So they referred us to John's. We called them on the phone and told us they were really busy, but they were willing to put her on the rack and check it out. Once we got there, they're head mechanic(I think) who was an ex MB tech, knew exactly the problem and made time to fix her. 2 hours later, problem was fixed and we were on our way. Fast efficient evaluation and service at a great price! So This Woman I met recommended them to me. I was explaining to her how my Mercedes 550 had an issue with the engine misfiring, and I didn't have a good mechanic here in town so she Gave me their name, and said I should try them out, and that she's used them several times and they do a really good job. So I called on a Friday and talked to Jeff about my vehicle. Jeff had me drop it off Monday morning which was today I dropped it off At about 830 this morning and then I got a phone call at about 9:10 AM letting me know that it was a small issue the coil need to be replaced on the six cylinder. They said they'd have to get the part from Mercedes, but they should be able to get it done pretty quickly. Then Jeff called me back around 11 AM stating that The work was already done and I could come pick up my vehicle! And the cost was under $200 which I felt was very reasonable! Amazing service and communication all the way around which is why I have to give them five stars! Not only that, but the mechanic who actually worked on my car was a certified Mercedes mechanic, so I got all of the service without having to pay the outrageous pricing from Mercedes themselves! I am a long-time loyal customer of John's Auto, but I will not be going here again after my last visit. Not a single person wearing a mask in the entire business. Not just the mechanics, but also those working in the office. When I asked if at least the customer-facing employee would mind putting on a mask while I filled out paperwork and paid, the answer was a simple "I don't have one." I've taken my car into John's twice now. The first time was a some what urgent issue. I took my car in first thing in the morning and they were kind enough to get me to work. They called not shortly after advising what the suspicion was the alternator. They fixed it all up. They were so nice and wonderful to work with didn't try to sell me anything that wasn't needed. The Second time i went in was because some things had been going on including my engine light.. So I stopped in there because my car is an older model they had to keep it in order to do the diagnosis. Couple hours later they called and let me know it was not one but 3 things. They fixed it all up for a price i could have never imagined considering I was quoted just ONE of the issues for more than what it cost to fix the 3 problems! I had my slave cylinder replaced in my 2000 nissan xterra and 2 weeks later i also lost the master clutch cylinder. Both repairs cost me under $400, but paid over $100 for both diagnostics alone. After the master was replaced Craig told me that i needed a new clutch pedal because there was a hole in it that a pin or rod goes through that was worn out. A USED clutch pedal was going to cost me $125 and the labor was going to be aroubd $300 costing me over $400 in repair. I was told that this wasnt a new problem and had been going on for a while, so i figured I'd wait and look into cheaper options since i thought there was no way that replacing the master cylinder could cause it to be much different. I picked my car up after hours and the clutch was completely different than it had been before the master went out. I had about an inch to engage and disengage my clutch. There was no invoice of the work that i was told needed to be done to replace the clutch pedal. The next day my fiance adjusted the master cylinder rod as should have been done when it was installed. This helped with a bit of room to engage and disengage. After a couple weeks of limited and very stressful driving, he cannibalized a part off of his '98 nissan truck. He took the pin out of his clutch and upon inspection the first thing he noticed is that my Xterras pin was missing a sheath. Along with that the pin from my rig was bent and notched. Immediately when he put that in my Xterra the clutch was nicer than it was when i bought it in January. He ordered a new part for his truck that cost him $6 and took about 1 hour to remove and replace. Either i was dealing with an incompetent mechanic or i was seen as someone easily taken advantage of. I have used Johns Auto in the past and brushed off the last indicent of needing my a.c. serviced. I was told that a hose blew off and leaked all my freon. After paying a large sum for the recharge and hose connection i got about 2 weeks of cold air and then was told that hoses broke and i needed to pay for new ones, plus another freon recharge. This was before i used them to replace a part that my roommate had just had done in his truck. Both of us ended up having to return after being left on the side of the road due to "faulty parts". In hindsight there have been many red flags, but i was optimistic that they were just flukes, since they had done a free inspection on a vehicle i was looking to buy and gave me a significantly low quote on the massive amount of work it would need done. They even went as far as telling me that if the dealership wouldnt repair the vehicle in shop they needed to drop the price by $3,000. I think that theres probably some employees that really care here, but it seems that others are very interested in taking advantage of their customers. read more

I dropped it off at John's at 6:30am this morning with a note and at 9:01am they left me a voice mail that it was fixed. I schlepped down there about lunchtime ready to pay the piper $100 or more and they threw me the keys and told me to come back some day. Who does that? Wow, it may have taken five or 50 minutes, and I would have paid an hour's labor and for some parts without question (don't tell anyone), and I'd never have known better. But wow. I'm really appreciative! On top of this they take care of my son's jalopy as well as can be expected, considering it's advanced age and mileage and I appreciate their ethics on that project as well. Took my car down to Johns for some basic work. Because of my work schedule, I had the vehicle towed down and then had it picked up by the same Tow driver. When I recieved my car back, my invoice stated that there were still disassembled parts in the trunk, which nobody from johns had mentioned to me. I called the following morning and spoke with Dan, one of the owners, and he was apologetic and helped me solve the issue. All was well. Not but 5 minutes after I get off the phone with Dan, my boyfriend had recieved a voicemail from one of the Service Writers from johns named Jim . It said, and I quote, "you got a problem, come down here Bitch. Dont be calling and bitching to Dan, Motherfucker." I was floored. Absolutely amazed. I called Johns back and tried to address the sitiation. As they were apologetic, the Service Writer is still employed by Johns, the owners made every excuse in the book in defense of their advisor, Jim, and the owners STILL have neither called or addressed my boyfriend, who was attacked with this message nor have they made mention of making the initial issue right. So basically, i paid 150$ for a tow truck so my vehicle could be taken apart in ways I cannot put back together, as well as getting verbally harrassed by someone who is suppoused to be the forefront of John's customer service. If you like being called a Bitch or a Motherfucker or you like getting ripped off and insulted, go to Johns. If that isnt really your thing, give another shop a shot. I had my car towed to their shop 8 days ago. They said my heater core was blown and water pump. Yesterday, they added a evap core, for the a.c. The price and time keeps going up, over $2200 now, more than the car is worth. I should never have used them, they tried to rip me off before, same car, they misdiagnosed , saying I had a timing chain problem and would cost $900 to replace. That time, I took it somewhere else and it was something different and not even close to $900. I'm two weekends now without a vehicle, as they keep milking me for more money. I left my car at John's for an oil change as well as an overall tune up. When I picked my car up the check engine light was on and the car was sputtering. I took it back and was told, all we did was an oil change I don't know what to tell you. After some back and forth (including a lovely and long print out of know issues with my make of vehicle) I finally took it to another mechanic who changed the oil again, the problem immediately went away no check engine light. Seems obvious what the problem was to me but John's still would not own up to it. I was however offered a refund for the oil change portion of the bill, $35 of a $78 dollar bill. I used to work at Medford BMW & respect the team there, however IF your car is out of warranty, THE VERY BEST place to bring your Bimmer is to John's. Luis and Matt are both ASC certified BMW specialist at a third of a savings from the dealership. I am writing today to expound on the excellent customer service, attention to detail and diplomacy that their center offered. Breakdown of situation, a belt was blown in the car on the way over Siskiyou pass. It was towed to Medford BMW. $2,700. dollars later and lots of repaired/replacement parts, along with the assurance that all of the pieces of belt had been removed. Less than 500 miles and one month later the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" and "CHECK OIL" light comes on. After having an oil change the month before, this didn't seem right. Brought the car back into Medford BMW, and $125. diagnostic later, they suggest another part. Just to be on the safe side, we brought it to a local guy in Ashland for a 2nd opinion and he felt that a BMW specialist handle the job. This is where John's Auto Care Center comes in. I remember that a lot of friends said that if their car was out of warranty, they brought their Bimmers to John's. So I did the same. First, the diagnosis was only quoted at $25. - THAT IS $100. dollars LESS than the dealership! I was then asked to come into the garage to take a look. Luis was holding a handful of rubber and said, "looks like you had a belt explode". That is when I told him that indeed that happened but Medford BMW assured me that all the rubber "had been cleaned and blown out" and luckily it wasn't sucked into some other part that I can't remember....Anyway, I also brought the diagnostics from Medford BMW with me and they told me the only way to ensure that this is what the problem was, they would have to remove the engine. If they did the work, based on the error code, they would charge me $300. dollars as opposed to the $415. quoted by Medford, BMW. When I dropped the car off the following week for service, I also had the foresight to bring a copy of the $2,700. invoice from Medford, BMW to show what work was done and which parts replaced. Luis made a copy of it. The next day - after the engine was removed, the mechanic called to say that the part that was recommended to replace by Medford BMW was ALREADY PURCHASED AND REPLACED BY THEM THE PREVIOUS MONTH! The real issue was the seal was not placed properly which gave the code. After a long conversation with Medford BMW, (albeit it was frustrating) they agreed to retrieve the car themselves and fix the seal. Bottom line, JOHN'S AUTO CENTER PROVIDED ALL THE LABOR TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE ENGINE - GRATIS. The entire time they contacted me via phone and also took photo's for me in case I needed to actually build a case for negligence on Medford, BMW's part if they did not concede to do the repairs as a matter of good faith and to stand by their work. They did but I am certain it is with great reluctance. THESE GUYS ARE GO BEYOND EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE. I have a lot of friends that are BMW owners, and I will tell you with great confidence, IF YOUR CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY - THESE ARE THE PEOPLE TO SEE! read more

The first place I had it towed dragged their butt on the diagnostic and quoted me more than double what Johns did. Every person I talked to at Johns was honest,super helpful, and really nice. They were consistently fast about getting back to me and giving me updates on my car. It was fixed within a few days too.They didn't overcharge me and my car has been running great since. I took my 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan in for AC service. It turns out it just needed freon. However, as I returned home from John's I realized my heater stopped working. They had replaced the thermostat already, so it wasn't that. After taking it back in to look at why the heater stopped working, they wanted to charge me 350.00 to fix it. Now, it MAY be a coincidence that the heater stopped working the exact same day of their "repair" of my thermostat and AC, but I believe they did something that broke my heater and now they are stating they could fix it for 350.00, bunot for free, as I believe they caused the breakdown. I will be getting a second opinion and will never go back to John's Auto again. read more

I moved here from South Carolina, and my car started running rough before we got on the road. We had already planned on towing the car here so I figured we could get the work done once we arrived here. I checked for reputable shops and John's Auto Care came highly recommended. I called ahead and spoke with them, they were willing to work with us over the phone and we paid them in advance for the parts just to make sure they would have them when we pulled into town. Once we got here we dropped off the car, and they got right on it the next day. Later that day, I got a call from Jason, who let me know there was more work that would be needed to complete the repair. It was a costly repair, but I bit my tongue and authorized the additional work. When we arrived to pick up the car the mechanic invited me to see something else he had discovered. Transmission fluid was leaking rapidly. So we ordered the part needed and brought the car back a few days later to do one more repair. Bottom line, I just spent a lot of money to get work done on my car, but I have confidence that if I hadn't done the work, the car would not have lasted. I look at it like this, if the car broke down for something they didn't tell me, I would have been furious. These guys are up front, and very professional in what they do.
