Best mechanic in the valley! I usually bring my 25 yr old bmw to them for repair/maintenance but I brought my other car recently and they gave me an estimate down to the dollar and a time frame of completion and both were met! I value a mechanic who will tell me the honest truth and give me options when available and Dave's does that. They also do not charge you hundreds of dollars just to diagnose something. They even washed my car for me and had their shuttle pick me up in the morning! Dave's import is the best and I will never go anywhere else, it's nice being able to count on them to do it right the first time when necessary repairs arise. Thank you! read more

I have taken my mini Cooper to Dave's on several occasions. They are always polite, prompt, and reasonably priced. Today I took it in to ask them for advice on how to get a repair done on a fender, (even though they are not a body shop). They popped the molding on the fender back into place for me immediately, and didn't charge me a dollar. They also gave me a referral for a body shop in town that is reputable for foreign sport cars. My BMW had an oil leak and they troubleshot it and performed a repair. Great for that portion, but received the car back they had broken the latch's on the cowl and put a ding in the hood compartment. Took it back they said they would work on a solution and call back, never heard from them again. It was not a cheap repair, cost 1k and they could not even take the time to call back. read more

When I called for a quote I was not treated with a superior level of customer service. I am some what of a car enthusiast and own many cars. 6 of which are German. I should be able to decide what parts I want and trust and have them installed on my car. I also should be able to supply them (and not because they are less expensive) Instead I was told thats not your policy and you cannot warranty said parts unless I purchase them from you. I was especially offended by your ridiculous and patronizing explanation using McDonalds profit strategy using their cheeseburgers as an example. Suggested retail price for parts are sometimes marked up as high as 70%! I do however appreciate that your intentions were transparent and That you clearly care less about customer satisfaction than about making your suggested retail price on parts. I am truly grateful I am not trusting you with any of my vehicles. Your loss. not mine read more

I've been going to Dave's for eight years and have never been unsatisfied. Whether it's an oil change, a full tune-up and diagnostic or major repair, I have Dave and his crew have always treated me with the respect and care I would hope for from a friend. Honest and thorough, they use new technology to text and email me about my Tacoma's health. They offer rides when I need and occasionally will wash and vacuum my vehicle for no charge. My review: I have a 1991 Honda CRX with an intermittent starting problem so I called Dave's Import Service on April 23rd 2012 and spoke with Jim Johnson the service desk manager, after describing my occasional starting problem he said I should bring it in and that there was a $95.00 diagnostic fee. I brought my car to them the very next day. I was told the plan was to start it each morning and try and duplicate the failure to starting problem. As my car consistently started 99% of the time we had an understanding that it may take a few days to try and duplicate the failure and I could leave it for about a week. I received a call nearly a week later and was told by Jim Johnson that they had not been able to duplicate the error and that my car continued to start up each and every time they tried. I gave them one more day with it and still no solution was found. The next day when I went in to pickup my car I was told that despite the fact the car started upon a dime each and every time they turned the key that a distributor cap was needed. The mechanic also suggested I could try and bang on the bottom of my gas tank when my unresolved starting problem happened again. Conclusion: Despite the fact that had not found or resolved my starting problem this business felt they were justified in charging me $96.00 for there time and fruitless efforts. I tried to express my disdain for the audacity to charge me for a diagnosis charge that offered no resolution to my problem but the service manager Jim Johnson ignored my comment and demanded payment. If you value honesty, professionalism, genuine courtesy, fair treatment and just a solid desire for a repair shop to do the right thing I suggest you avoid Dave's Import Service entirely. read more

Well, I went to this shop to give my old friend Kevin the business instead of the Honda dealership. I had an extended warranty through AAA. I was told they would cover all electronic and mechanical parts and labor. I told Josh I had a $100 deductible and that is all I was willing to pay. I told him exactly which part needed to be replaced and what the list price and the sale price was for the part online. I asked to speak with my friend and owner Kevin 3 different times and Josh never got him for me. I finally called back there to see what was going on with my car at 4 and they said it was done Josh told me in addition to the $100 deductible I would have to pay $35 for the part. The warranty would only pay the list price for the part. Dave's Imports wanted a $35 mark up. I refused to pay more than the $100 and he finally said fine and are business relationship has ended. Again he would not get the owners to speak with me and I am not to return to his shop. They wanted $145 for the Honda part and including shipping I could have gotten part at Honda shop online for like $90. They still got paid over $300 to replace the stop/start button on a 2015 Honda Fit. I told them exactly what part needed to be replaced and they still did all the diagnostic stuff and charged the maximum amount they could charge and still tried to get more money out of me. What a bad experience and never getting to speak to the two owners who were there! Worst car experience ever!!!!! I was serious, but never lost my temper. I just stood up for not paying for more than I agreed at beginning. read more

I took my JETTA tdi vw in for power loss while driving. I was told it was the fuel pump and that it would be close too 2500. I paid cash and they provided no receipt, they said they would email it to me which they never did. I had the job done and got the car back and it had the exact same problems it had before. I took it back, they kept it for a week with only one contact saying they needed more time to diagnose. Still no reciept. I called them after 8 days and they said they had replaced a boost valve and charged me 200 more. When i finally get a reciept for the first job when I pick it up the 2nd time. The reciept is for 1000$ less than I paid in cash. In the end the owner had me call the dealership vw in medford to assure that I was paying a fair price for the part. He told me $ 1832 was the cost at vw. I phoned vw and the cost was actually 1832. He was lying strsight away. I confronted him on this explainng the descpency and he hung up on me rudely. Hows that for service. So much for supporting the little guy and being loyal to a mechanic! Please do not support this business. read more

My BMW shop told me I had to flush out my power steering system as I'd accidentally poured in a little motor oil into the power steering opening and it would cost me $300. We were on a family vacation and driving through Medford in very hot weather. I called around trying to find a local shop that could help us immediately. When I called Dave's, Jim said I could bring it right over. Within an hour, the job was done. Charge? $120! Their driver even took us to the mall and back so we could eat lunch while we waited. We started out on a ten hour drive from Medford to L.A. when the Check Engine light came on. We made a call to our excellent garage, Independent Volvo in Pasadena, who suggested we call Dave's Import Service. Jim answered the call and was able to take us right away. We were impressed with the garage, which was clean, spacious and very well equipped. Jim was efficient and thorough. He explained there would be a $96 diagnostic fee and any repairs would be in addition. We left the car, went to a Starbucks nearby and they completed the job within a couple of hours. The problem was detected, the repairs were minor and cost only an additional $5.00. We met Dave when we picked up the car; he obviously takes pride in his operation. (We then made the ten hour drive without a hitch.) read more
