If you've got a car issue in the Medford area, take it to Keith Schulz and you will not be disappointed in the high-level of efficiency, transparency and quality work that they provide. Leo and his team saved me a whole lot of hassle!! Here's why I sing their praises: On the way back from a road-trip, the brake in my Toyota 4Runner became very spongey; essentially I had no braking power until my foot was right against the floor. Well, I had no clue what the cause could be or how it could be fixed. What I did know is that I had to be back to Wenatchee, WA by Sunday and I only had Friday to get it fixed before all the mechanics shops closed for the weekend. Boy am I glad I chose Keith Schulz Garage! From the moment I walked into their office, Leo and the rest of his staff showed kindness and professionalism at ever turn. I spoke with Leo briefly about the issue and he remembered me from the call I had made earlier that morning, demonstrating great care in listening to their customers. He let me know very transparently that to determine the cause of the issue would be $150 for an hour inspection, but only $75 if it took 30min to diagnose. I really appreciated this because usually mechanics don't explicitly say how much a diagnosis will cost and won't want to lower the price if they can help it. Leo made it clear their garage was different and that he would talk with me before arranging any work that would bring the price above $150. However, not knowing the source of the issue, he wasn't sure how much it might cost or if it could be fixed that day. Being from out-of-town, I didn't have anywhere to stay while I was waiting for the repairs and was worried I'd have to pay for a hotel if the issue couldn't be resolved till Monday. Fortunately, Keith Schulz Garage has a very comfortable, air-conditioned waiting room, which I was incredibly grateful for in the summer heat! Before too long, Leo came into the waiting room and explained to me specifically what they found had gone wrong. He even had the old metal brake line that had snapped right there to show me! Again, simply above and beyond excellent customer service and care. Leo also let me know they were getting the parts ordered right away so that they could get the repair done as soon as possible (they knew I was on a time crunch) and gave me a reasonable quote on how much it would cost. Only an hour or two later and Leo came back in again telling me my 4Runner was fully ready to drive with the brake line replaced, brakes bled and brake fluid refilled. I couldn't believe my ears! Just that morning I was getting ready to spend the weekend in a hotel and be a couple days late returning to work in Wenatchee. Now I was told I could be on the road again that instant!! The cherry on top was that since the technicians didn't have to spend as long as they thought making the repairs, Leo dropped the price he quoted me earlier by ~30% - I was over the moon! Total Crooks! Adam is a piece of work! They rebuilt the diesel engine twice amounting to over 17k and told me to take a hike when the head gasket blew, which was the initial problem. Sauers Machine was the other half of problem. They both can't be trusted. read more

I'm very grateful for being referred to Keith Schulz garage by Firestone Auto Center of Medford after having a major breakdown 70 miles north of Medford at Roberts Mountain. I had a remanufactured engine installed by Keith Schulz Garage. Adam walked me through alternatives but leaned heavily toward Jasper Engines as an engine remanufacturer of choice. I researched on my own, and knowing some about engine internals, found Jasper Engine remanufacturers use multi-layer steel head gaskets which provide a little more insurance prior to a blown head gasket, hypereutectic aluminum pistons, which provide lighter weight with high durability, and Jasper researches OEM factory weaknesses and attempts to rectify any known OEM weaknesses in the remanufacturing process. In my case, the 4.7L Dodge engine had some valve seat issues from the factory build, so Jasper presses the new valve seats into the heads at 2 times the pounds per square inch (PSI) than the factory. Top that off with a 3 year or 100,000 mile nationwide warranty, and it appeared to be a good engine of choice for me as well. I hope it to be a lasting decision to a vehicle breakdown on top of what was already a very financially and emotionally hectic year 2020 for me. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!! Took my Kia in today to have the air conditioning fixed. When I dropped it off they told me that if we had tried to charge it ourselves and it had a sealant in it they would not be able to hook it up to their machines. Apparently they said it did have sealant, so all they did was open the valve and they are saying enough pressure must have been released due to possible over fill. They say "Its working great now"! Well I drove it home and its a 15 min drive or so. They were right it was blowing cold air and seemed fine...until the engine warmed up and started blowing warm air and causing the engine to surge. I'm pissed off because we were charged $69 to have someone take the cap off and say "OK it works"!!! Called them as soon as we got home only to be told "Sorry there is nothing we can do"!! REALLY??!! Called Kia Butler and made an appointment, told them what happened, and were told it shouldn't have been a problem even if there is sealant. Now I REALLY feel taken advantage of!!! read more

I called and made an appointment to check where I was losing water from the cooling system and fix it a couple of weeks ago. I showed up in time they did a pressure check. And told me I needed $1500 worth of work with a new radiator and they didn't have time to work on it for a week. They told me I had a crack in the radiator by the upper hose and the intake was cracked and the gasket was bad. And showed me green fluid and a "crack". I found it kind of suspicious because I had no coolant in my truck just water. Well the upper hose blew out yesterday. It cost me $17 for me to swap it out for a new one. I saw the crack in the radiator which was just a line they drew on it with a pencil. The only thing wrong is that I had a bad leaking hose. Don't let them rip you off. Get a second opinion. I regret paying them for the pressure test in the first place now. read more

My car had already not wanted to start when I was trying to leave the store early that day I am a single mom and don't have a lot of extra money for car repairs, not to mention not having a car is not an option with work, getting kids to school. Bought a car in Roseburg Oregon and it made it to medford before it pooped out. Met a tow truck driver who recommended this shop. I had the car towed there and figured it would be bunch of BS. I was from out of state and the car was 40 years old. A 74 Impala. I had an idea what was wrong and being frustrated I just left the car there and headed home (400 miles away) Before I could get home I received a couple of calls from the shop about what could possibly be wrong and what course of action they would take. The WORST service I have ever had. Brought my car in because of some sensors or something and was overcharged about $200. When I asked about finding the part somewhere cheaper they said no so me being a single mom, working full time, and in college and desperate for my car gave them the go ahead. Later when I asked for the receipt for the part they were extremely shady and said they couldn't give it to me. They then told me they charged me $200 over what the part was worth AFTER they installed it. Women - do your research on what could be wrong with your truck before going in and hound them for details (question "authority")- Brought my 2000 Tacoma in for a $50. diagnostic. It had a code p0420 which is related to catalytic efficiency and could mean it needed a new cat or just o2 or fuel sensors. They were quick to tell me I needed the whole shebang (like around $2000 repair). They said the cat flowed good but was slow to heat up. They said that both my o2 sensors were going bad but my air fuel sensor was ok and that there was a pending code (bank 2 sensor 1 (which is a sensor upstream of the cat) was going). Problem is, my 4 cyl. Tacoma only has a bank one and only has one upstream air fuel sensor and one downstream o2 sensor. I did some research and discovered if a air fuel sensor is going bad it will cause the cat to heat slowly. The guy behind the cash register went yadda yadda yadda about how my truck has over 200k and parts just go bad that are that old. Sorry, won't buy it. Tell me what is really wrong, Dude.. Well, turns out, my cats are just fine. I changed out the air fuel sensor ($80.) myself and check engine light went out and I passed the emissions test and truck runs great. Someone had suggested I try them and wanted to give them a try but eh, sorry, you lost my trust. I will be shopping elsewhere when I need someone to give me a solid diagnostic. read more
