The problem remained unknown and I was ultimately referred to Bridge Street Auto. I appreciated the transparency and communication regarding the diagnostics, problems found and the cost of repairs. In the course of the work, there were some parts that could benefit being replaced, and I was consulted about any 'new' item that came up that we hadn't previously discussed. $1000.00 an hour. I took my 2007 Ford F150 in for a crankshaft sensor gear to be installed. I had actually missed it when putting the new engine in. Its located on the crank behind the timing cover. The only thing that needed to be done was the 1. Timing cover removed 2. Harmonic balancer removed 3. Alternator and cooling port to engine. Nothing else was required to install the part. I wanted it to be done and over with as i was exhausted from working on it. It was agreed between me and them they would get it running for the estimate. I was assured everything would be checked and in working order. I sent everything that needed to be put back on in the back seat and bed of the truck. To sum this up they did put the gear on and put nearly everything back on. However it did not run . It started for 2 secs and died. They refused to do anything more because there were 2 bolts missing in the front of each valve cover. The fan and pulleys including the fan shroud and compartment trim were never installed. The pulleys were screeching they said and needed to be replaced. I had it towed back home . This costed me $1000.00 . For no more than an hour or so of actual work and did not run. They had promised they would get it running if the "crank shaft sensor gear" was the problem. Which it was. Im a disabled Veteran and cant afford $1000.00 and a broken promise. read more

I was referred to this establishment from a friend and I'm so glad for that. we were stuck in a parking lot in grants pass and couldn't get our Tahoe to start. I got ahold of Bridge Street auto through our car insurance and they had our vehicle towed there. I was quoted a price for looking at it sounded fair. I was contacted the next morning saying that the Tahoe was fixed and to my surprise it was fixed for the initial quote. Towing a trailer with our jeep, overheating, heater full blast in 95-100+ degrees... fun times until our poor Jeep just couldn't do it anymore. AAA and yelp recommended this place. They were able to sneak us in, even though we needed to stay the night to wait for the part to come in. But they recommended a cute little hotel and even got us this awesome discount and upgrade! Its nice and air conditioned inside the office. They even shuttled us to the hotel and back to the shop in the morning. Saved us a cab ride. Nice staff. Glad they were around to help us out. WAY OVER PRICED. You're better off going literally anywhere else or asking a random Craigslist mechanic for a diagnosis. These people charge $125/hour for a DIAGNOSIS. Then they were WRONG - I couldn't afford to have them fix it after charging me such an outrageous estimate price. And they have THREE people in the office, who clearly is a just a desk worker but she was UNSURE if it was her job to take my payment so she waited until her supervisor got off the phone, who then looked at her like she was an idiot and asked why she hadn't taken my payment... yah I wonder where that $125/hr goes. Stop employing your daughter/niece/friend for no good reason and billing customers for it. I had told them what the diagnosis my friend gave me was. They rudely did that thing where they smiled all my words away and said they'd have to start fresh, they couldn't trust anything I was telling them. Turns out I WAS RIGHT AND THEY WERE WRONG AND THEY WOULD HAVE FIXED THE WRONG THING FOR $1000. I called a local mechanic who came to my house and fixed the problem for less than half of that. Don't trust these people! They JUST want your money and they're super passive agressively rude! read more

I was on the road from California when my battery light came on just north of Grants Pass. I have an older Tacoma with over 250,000 miles on it so I pulled over and called around for a shop that could see it. This was 2:30pm on a Friday - eek. The folks at Bridgestreet were able to get me in, but were upfront that they don't work on weekends. I was getting a tow so I didn't arrive until 3:30pm. My truck was quickly assessed. Luckily it was just alternator belts. They ordered the parts, put them on and ran a suite of checks to make sure the rest of the vehicle was in good shape to continue to British Columbia. I was out the door a bit after 5pm and made it to my campsite near Eugene before dark. Great folks, honest work, good price! read more

They do great work. Very reliable. We could always count on them to do it correctly. For us cost became an issue. The diagnostic fee is excessive we feel. They started charging it for even simple things and don't credit it back for the actual repair. Fer example they repaired AC on our motorhome and didn't fix the fan switch. I asked how much to do that and they said they would need to charge another diagnostic fee of $75 plus the labor and parts for just the switch. Already knew what the problem was. Really soured our feelings about them so now we go to where the fee is not charged extra. I spent many years in automotive repair and tire business so am very aware of labor costs and billing. Wish we could have continued but really was angry about it. read more

This is the best place! I love them! Each person I've worked with has gone out of their way to be helpful and kind. AAA towed us here after breaking down in Cave Junction. After deciding not to get the transmission repaired (even though the quote was quite fair) I rented a uhaul to tow it home. After they helped to load the car on.....the uhaul had a flat tire! We were burning oil and smoking, and the engine light came on, and we called them from the road, and although busy, offered to take a look. When we arrived, they hooked it up to the diagnostic scope, and put it up on the lift to check it out. They determined that it wasn't anything too serious, and that there is a small oil leak. They gave us confidence that we could continue on our trip, with instructions to buy some oil and check it on the way. And they didn't charge us for their time! I seldom write reviews but the excellent service here inspired me to share with others. Driving from Southern California up to the Seattle area for our grandson's high school graduation our VW vanagon Westfalia broke down in Selma, OR on a Wednesday late afternoon. After contacting AAA they towed us into Grants Pass. I saw this shop listed online and it said they worked on clutches (our vehicle would not shift at all) and on VW's so I chose them. We had to park in the front of the shop that night. In the morning they confirmed they could work on the car. Once they put the car on the lift they were able to quickly identify the problem (slave cylinder), ordered the part and put in on when the part arrived on Friday morning. Beyond courteous and efficient. We made it to the graduation with just a couple hours to spare. Wish we lived closer. I would use these people for all my repairs. read more

Very kind and helpful staff. We were on I5 traveling back to CA when several warning lights appeared. We called several shops just asking them to run a diagnostic but were turned away. Bridge Street receptionist who answered (I do not have her name) was willing to check it for us and see if we could troubleshoot. I took my recently purchased used (2002) RV van to Bridge Street Auto to have the engine checked out resulting in recommendations for 6 repairs estimated at $1,755.38. (Replace evap leak detection pump, radiator replacement, thermostat replacement, belt, tensioner and idler pulley replacement, rear differential service, transmission cooler line replacement.) The estimate for the radiator replacement seemed too high to me so on gut instinct, I took the estimate to another shop in town. Their estimate for a radiator replacement was about $350 less than Bridge Street's estimate. So, I arranged for the other shop to make all the needed repairs. And, guess what, according to that shop, several of the suggested repairs Bridge Street recommended were not needed! I'm not sure what happened, perhaps just honest mistakes or trying to make the engine like new by replacing partially worn parts?? Whatever happened, I saved over $900 by going elsewhere. read more

Paid to put a new engine in and at first ran great. But as time went by I began to notice small problems. Missing and loose nuts, oil leak, loose wires. The timing was messed up, I had to take it to the dealership for them to fix it right. Bridge street put in a new starter and then my starter went out due to the fact that they only put in one of the two bolts to hold it in. I had to pay an additional $500 in repairs to fix problems caused by this auto shop. The price you pay for their service would be fair if they had good quality service. read more

If you can call a breakdown while on vacation at all pleasurable, the folks at Bridge St. Auto and RV made it just that. We broke down on Hwy. 5 with a bad trans. leak. I called and spoke to Dan about getting towed in that morning by AAA. Super polite and courteous, he said they could diagnose the problem that day!!! Well the trans had to come out to replace the front seal. Ouch!! They had an RV electrical hookup and fresh water and let us stay at their facility for the night. In the morning we were given a ride to all sports park from Mike (adjacent to the Rogue River) to spend the day while our repairs were being done. They also offered to give us rides to the store and also at lunch time, Dan picked me up to get Chinese food, and a ride back to the park. Talk about excellent customer service. We were totally stranded and they bent over backwards to help us. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs any kind of automotive or RV repair. read more
