I went to the salon today to do gel on both hands and feet, though I wanted to get tips ok my hands since 3 of my nails were broken. Jessica was doing my gel pedicure which was good and alright, but when I started doing my nails with Annie, she didn't really prep up my cuticles didnt do anything but do my nails and it wasn't great. My nails look like big globs, I asked her to redo them or try to fix them because of her mistake. All he complained about was my hands are dry which whenever I go to my usual nail spot its alright because they soak it and PREP it. Annie continuously complains about me asking her to redo it and this takes longer than expected I say in the store for total 3 hours when I know it doesn't take long. In the end I wasn't trying to stay longer since Annie continued to complain and I just told her to put topcoat on it when she couldn't even do it right. read more

Today was my second visit to Johnny's and both times I've been really impressed. Nancy did my pedi and gel mani, she was super thorough and was extremely patient working with me a couple times to make sure I had the right nail polish ( which I really appreciate, because we've all been to that salon, where the nail technician gets annoyed) Carina did the nail design on my thumb and my pointer finger. The new place on Northern Blvd is simply AMAZING. All safety measures are in place .Upon walking in masks are required of every customer as well as all employees wearing them. Your hands must be washed also upon entering. If you are there to do your lashes safety measures are in place. I've been a customer since they were on Francis Lewis Blvd and was very upset when new ownership took over. Imagine my surprise when the place opened and Karina was back in a new location with all your favorite nail technicians. The place is bigger, more space, follows all safety measures to protect you the client and themselves. There are partitions when you sit to have your nails done and when you sit in those big comfy chairs to have a pedicure your nail tech is wearing a mask and everything is cleaned after every client. I'm extremely happy and satisfied with my nails. Annie has been my girl for years and I love how my nails look. She takes her time and it is an absolute pleasure sitting with her. I love how she recommends colors or I can show her what I want and she gets to it. Karina the owner/ boss is extremely talented in her nail art and designs. This place is an absolute ripoff. They breakdown the charge of your services to the most unnecessary things. I spent over $100 on my nails which were broken down into charges that I didn't even know were charges in the first place, only for my nails to break one day after. The lady that did my nails was so attitudinal, every time I asked for a little extra here or to touch up something there she would talk about me to her coworker as she slammed things angrily.They give you a 20% off membership card to purchase but they don't tell you that the 20% only comes off of the basic manicure and it doesn't come off of your WHOLE service. SOO I spent over $100 with the impression that I would be getting 20% off, but instead, I only got five dollars off because it comes off of the most basic manicure service. Customer service is top notch. The manager is very down to earth and the girls at the front are always professional and on top of their game. If you ask that they call you if there are any cancellations, they always remember to do so. The nail techs are very sweet and patient. I had such a great experience at Johnny's nails today! I've been getting my lashes done at sweet lashes for over 4 years and travel from Long Island just for the service. The salon is beautiful and everyone followed social distancing guidelines! Prices are also really great, I received a gel mani and regular pedi for $45 dollars. I am originally a Queens native that just moved back after living in the Bronx for five years, where I HATED the nail salons there. So now I was looking for an immaculate nail salon to call home. I actually found this place on Yelp and made an appointment at 2pm for 5pm. I incidentally took an Uber to the wrong location, and was 35 minutes late and May at the front desk still graciously took me without giving me an attitude which I deserved as I understand during COVID-19 pandemic, scheduling is important. After checking in, I was promptly asked to wash my hands. This is my first time getting my nails done in a public setting so I greatly appreciated that. I first got a pedicure with Sophia who was so lovely and jovial. Everyone's pedicures and manicures are spread out every other seat to ensure social distancing. I got a spa pedicure and it was absolutely Fabolous. I then got French ombré tips with Carina who is absolutely meticulous. I told her I didn't want a natural French but an orange ombré without it looking obnoxious and she brought an arrangement of colors and swabbed them until i was happy with the results. She is an absolute sweetheart. My boyfriend came with me and enjoyed the environment of the spa so much with me he got a pedicure as well. I really enjoy the fact that every single person in this spa is attentive to everyone whether they are their client or not; it doesn't feel aggressive and micro organized like other spas that make you feel rushed just to get your money. They are very conscientious. At the end of my visit, Carina made me a VIP member enabling me to get discounts every time I go. This was my first time here and I was stunned by the service. Its as good as a luxe nail-lash spot in the neighborhood can get. My crib is the major discord between pricing and quality. While the nail techs are good at shaping, the attention to detail when it comes to designs*, is extremely dissatisfying. A new set is $70-fine. Designs are supposedly $10 for 2 nails,a pop- outrageous, but ok. When all is said and done I'm spending upwards of $200 and walking out with nails I'm not proud to claim. If my nail tech is quoting me almost $150+ for just my hands, I have certain expectations -for them not to rush, for nails that aren't completed sloppily,uneven shaping or a pattern/design that is inconsistent on every nail, thick or uneven acrylic and the list goes on.This is frustrating and completely unacceptable. For the amount spent,I believe I should not have to point out a correction, which I found myself doing often today after holding back on many other occasions. There are nail techs on ig that charge a fraction for impeccable work, and here you are, basically being price gouged-but I do not believe quality should be sacrificed for convenience any more. I really contemplated this review, because I do value my nail tech, but I have to say the last two times I visited and dropped serious coin, I left miserable and wanting a refund. My nails were an eye sore.I also hate the fact that I'm not offered my pick of materials and being charged without a say.They start applying product without giving pricing and seem almost offended when you inquire or suggest something and thats its a major inconvenience to restart one nail. I was excited a nail salon opened near my home except I was very disappointed. The manicurist cut my nails so short that my fingers hurt. Nails were left ragged with pointy ends. Manicurist never smoothed them. She acted as if she couldn't be bothered with a client with natural nails. I went home and filed my nails myself. I got my eyelashes done and i loved them. They came out natural looking and beautiful. However, they do not last long. They started falling out within 3 days & have gaps. Their not meant to stay on for 6-8weeks. Def have to get a weekly refill which ends up costing you more. I've made an appointment in advance and decided to give this salon a try. I would have to say that my experience here is quite disappointing. First off, there were way too many customers that my session felt very rushed. The nail tech was speeding through my pedicure and jammed my cuticles so hard that my toe bled. Moving onto my manicure, I've asked her to be more gentle with my cuticles, but she still proceeded to jam them so hard that I had to scream "OUCH" and a pink finger for her to start to be gentle. I've been going to Johnny's nails and Sweet Lash for years separately. When Karina merged the 2 locations and moved it to Northern Blvd it was such a blessing! I moved from Queens to the Bronx, and this location is conveniently located right off the Clearview Expressway so it's takes me 8 mins without traffic to get here. Karina is one of the most wonderful managers I've worked with. Superb organizational skills, and leads the shop with poise and extreme professionalism. I'll be honest this nail salon is expensive, but in my opinion after horrid experiences at other nail salons, I'm willing to pay the premium for great customer service, consistent quality work and professionalism. Additionally, if you become a VIP customer (I believe after 25 services) you will start to receive 20% off most services. My glam squad (Cassie, Chris and Skye) always leave me looking fabulous. First time coming here for powder gel the other day. I went in the afternoon and there was a good amount of people surprisingly. The place has a very interesting circular nail station design and there is an area where women can get their eye lashes done. I found this to be a little weird but it was cool to watch. I parked right in front of the Xcellent Hair salon. There wasn't any signs on my specific spot but the spot next to me said reserved for 30 minutes. When I went into the salon, I asked them if I can park in front of the hair salon and they said any signs? I said not on mine specifically but next to me. They said "yea, should be ok". I winded up leaving it there and nothing happened but should customers just park downstairs to be safe? I don't want to get my car towed or anything. I didn't really want to go on the ground level because it was hella icey out and I didn't want to sleep and fall so closer parking the better! My nails came out great however my nails physically were hurting after. I read online and it said it could be due to my cuticles being pushed back too far. Nails came out great though, so I'll be back and just pay attention to my cuticles being pushed! Very cute pedicure names btw and they play good music. This is the worst nail salon I've ever been to. I got a full new set and she cut them so short I should've just had her paint my real nails at that point. She rushed through my nails and the shape isn't even at all. Some nails are longer then others and it is so over priced. They charged me a 6$ fee for using my credit card as if everyone doesn't use card at the nail salon????? This place is a total scam and is so overpriced. My total for a new set was 76$. I showed Kim what I want and she did it exactly, so yesterday I came back and made an appointment prior, I specify that I want Kim to do it but when I came they said that she's busy so there's this girl Carina who insisted to do my nails. She's really bossy and talks too much. I felt like she was rushing, she would get up every now and then to do something else coz apparently she's an acting manager? She didn't even ask me what I want first, she cut my nails square, I wanted it skinnier. I told her what I want and she still didn't do it.
