    Plaza in Cotati

Stopped by this cafe in Cotati,Ca and had a Latte which was good. Very spacious dining area, and various food and drink options. Located in a small plaza just off 101 West. I noticed they have medium size breakfast burritos that are made locally. Service great and the owner is friendly.

I don't think I've ever been here, but I refuse to support this business now after what I read. I read a Facebook check in were a paying LOYAL customer came in with a service dog and was harassed. Yelled at her and told her she could not have a dog in here, and she replied saying it was a service dog. They didn't believe her and made her get her papers for the dog, which is illegal. They produced to badger her asking why she has a service dog and made her tell them about her personal medical conditions. Even after all that they told her she isn't welcome there anymore. I can not believe the audacity of some people, especially in the year 2017 in a city so progressive as Cotati. I am not a dog fan myself, but I am all for service animals and their rights. You are legally allowed to have a service animal anywhere in California, and you are legally not even allowed to ask if it is a service animal. Whatever employee terrorized this poor girl needs to be fired, or this company should be shut down. You can not treat people and animals like this.

Adorable, cozy, cool little place right off of the 101. Let me paint you a picture. Its hot blinding bright outside. You pull into this parking lot needing something cold. Something with caffeine. You in and instantly you feel cooler. A smiling face greets you from across the room. You notice this after your eyes adjust since it is somewhat darker inside then outside. You notice a long bar holding coffee pots with light Kona to dark roast and goodies. Overhead some jazz is playing softly. It is nice. Makes you want to get a cup of whatever you fancy so you can relax and enjoy the calm of the environment. There is interesting art sprinkled throughtout. I choose to get one of the shots of espresso in my cup of light roast. It was the boost I needed! And then headed over to the array of sugars to sweeten the cup! Check out my picture and the description to see all the options! Just amazing!

Drinks showed up within minutes and food in another 10-15 min. We ordered: chilaquiles w smoked pork chop, chorizon con papas, churro French toast w eggs and bacon, and avocado and bacon benny. Food arrived hot with generous portions. Eggs ordered over easy were still gooey. All were happy and digging in. House unsweetened mango ice tea and mocha w Ghiradelli chocolate were standouts. They even gave us more coffee and iced tea to go. We'll be back for more breakfast as well as trying their lunch. I don't say that lightly. I'll start with Arabic light roast coffee that was a golden color and infused with cardamom. It was exactly what I was looking for that day. It tasted great, and it gave me to pick me up. I needed for the rest of the afternoon. I have never seen coffee that color. It was delightful. As for the fatayer, it is basically the Yemeni version of an empanada. I am very much a savory breakfast person, so this was a special treat. The spices were amazing, and it was cooked to perfection. This is one of the items you can see in the display case that they warm up for you on the spot. There were also many desserts and other food options. I should also note that I ordered on a large tablet display, which included several different drink, and food options. Honestly, the menu was a little bit overwhelming given the number of choices, but it also makes me think that there is so much more that I need to try next time. I needed to get some work done, so I sa myself down on the very comfortable couch, which conveniently contained a Wi-Fi password stuck to the edge of the adjacent table. It was very chill, and if I didn't have an appointment to get you I certainly could've stayed there all day. I am excited to try some other things on the menu and continue to support this local business.

They have specialty shelf stable chocolate and snacks and a display full of beautiful desserts! ** pistachio cream puff (4.5/5): unlike the more traditional choux shell, this one was laminated like croissant dough-- fun! The cream was also thick enough to not leak everywhere and didn't taste artificial. Really enjoy this one! ** strawberry and cream chiffon cake slice (3.5/5): didn't really feel like a chiffon cake or maybe it was on the drier side. It worked well with the mascarpone frosting though, which was smooth and a little too rich for me by itself. There wasn't too much strawberry besides the sweet jam layer in the middle. ** Brutta mi buoni (4/5): translated to "ugly but delicious," this craggly meringue actually caught my eye and curiosity for its looks. I'm usually not a fan of meringues, but this one was loaded with nuts and was tasty. Kind of tastes like a refined version of those Lucky Charms cereal marshallows in a good way! I originally coordinated everything with their event planner Ally over email, and the entire process was very smooth. At first they suggested hosting at one of their sister restaurants, but when that didn't work out they were kind enough to accommodate my birthday event at Acorn Café instead, which I really appreciated. When we arrived, about half of the restaurant had been reserved for our group. It looked so sweet and festive. We had a face painter set up along the wall for the kids, huge balloon bouquets decorating our side of the room, and fresh floral arrangements on the tables. It was beautiful and thoughtful, and my guests absolutely loved the atmosphere. The aesthetic was perfect for a relaxed birthday brunch. This was more of a family-style celebration, so the space worked out wonderfully. The kids were able to enjoy themselves, and everyone felt comfortable. It happened to be raining that day, otherwise I would have loved to sit on their covered patio (which does have heaters). Still, having everything set up inside actually turned out to be perfect. The staff was incredible. They were extremely helpful and very organized. Since we had a cutoff time before the kitchen closed, they made sure to come to our tables and take everyone's orders so we could get everything in on time. I did place a deposit ahead of time, which went toward the final bill at the end. Food-wise, we pretty much ordered everything and tried a little of it all. My favorites were the lemon ricotta pancakes, tiramisu French toast, and the breakfast burger. The portions were generous, and we had so much food that many of us ended up taking leftovers home and enjoying them later. Overall, it was such a lovely place to host a birthday brunch. Great food, a welcoming team, and a space that worked perfectly for a family gathering. I'm absolutely planning to come back again, hopefully on a sunny day so I can finally enjoy that patio.
