These guys are the best in the business. I've used them twice when I was stranded and needed a tow but my insurance company's road side asssistance failed me. Both times Nathan showed up as quick as possible and he couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. He also coached me on how to get reimbursed by State Farm for the cost of the tow. Horrible business practices. They towed a vehicle on a certain date and on the paper work they state the day the notice was mailed. In between those two dates there was a 4 day lapse that I never received a call regarding the vehicle. Automatically they are charging $500 in storage fees, $225 for towing and then want me to pay? Get over your exuberant costs. You can't expect people to pay a fees you're charging when there was no notice given immediately day of the vehicle being towed.... read more

Horrible service the office lady has the biggest attitude problem. The place is covered with a bunch of lot lizards (homeless/users) they run scams . The Laura/lauren lady whatever her name is tried charging me $300 to retrieve my things from the vehicle. They kept my vehicle, (it cleared lien) and trying to charge me $4100 for storage. Yet they kept and would the vehicle. I was involved in an accident and never got the option to tow my own car !! Absolute worst customer service. The woman who answers the main phone is condescending, rude, and makes excuses as to why she can't meet you to open the lot. Supposedly this is a 24 hour towing & recovery but the woman that unlocks the gate (not a tow truck driver) is NOT available 24 hours. Had an appt. for McHugh to pick up my SUV at 2:30pm Friday at my mechanic's in Concord. I waited til 3:30. They did not show. I called them and they said they'd be there by 4:00. So I go to meet them again at my mechanic's. They don't show up. I received a call at 4:30 that their tow truck broke down and they would have to reschedule. The driver was very rude on the phone. I think he wanted to go home early for the weekend. I doubt the tow truck broke down. I ended up donating the SUV to Kars 4 Kids. I don't even have to be there when they pick it up. I feel bad for my mechanic because I had to wait 4 days before McHugh's would come out to pick it up and they didn't show. read more

I doubt anyone is having a good day when they have to call for a tow truck, and I was no exception. I had just gotten my car back from (a very expensive repair at) the shop three days before when, in a completely unrelated turn of events, the car decided it didn't want to start. Needless to say, I was not pleased. Once I got finished trying a jump, slamming the doors, kicking the tires, and yelling obscenities for all my neighbors to hear at 6am (sorry neighbors), I took a few deep breaths and called AAA. This is the tow company they sent me. This was everything a tow should be. They showed up just a little bit before AAA told me they would. The driver was professional but not overly enthusiastic, quick, careful, and sympathetic. I wasn't all that far from the shop, but he took me directly there. The truck was in good repair and clean. As things go, I had a very good experience with McHugh's. Let's just hope I don't have to use them again for a long time. read more

About a year ago, I called AAA for a tow truck. It was the large truck and I acutally fell out of the Mchugh Tow Truck. I hurt my hand, back and neck. I called both AAA and McHugh. Neither would call me back. So, be aware. You think because you are calling AAA that they have some responsiblity. No, they washed their hands of it all. McHugh just never responed to me. I had an issue with my car catching on fire on the freeway. McHugh's towing towed the car to their yard. Car was a total loss, but I still wanted to get some of my belongings that could be salvaged. I had called the tow yard and the woman told me I would need to pay the tow fee, and storage fees up to date if I wanted to get my stuff. And pay the gate fee if business was closed. I called on a Saturday and the person answering the phone said that they were open. I went down to the yard and was told that the towing part of the yard was closed and I'd have to pay the gate fee. The tow truck driver that had towed my car was there and spoke with me. I decided to take the following Monday off work to go there. When I arrived, the person at the desk told me I needed to go to CHP to get a release in order to retrieve my property! When CHP had told me all I had to do was go to the tow yard! I almost left the tow yard to go handle whatever I needed with CHP. Instead I decided to call them because by the time I would have went to the CHP building and returned the tow yard would have been closed and I would have to pay the gate fee or wait till the next day which would not have been possible because I work! Luckily CHP did NOT have any kind of hold and called the tow yard. The lady told me she just wanted to make sure I was the registered owner. I really felt like they were just trying to dick me around. It wasn't until after they realized they would have to let me back there to my car, did they start being a little nicer. I felt like they could have been a little more helpful instead of trying to deter me from getting my stuff since they knew full and well that I did NOT need a release. read more

MANAGER JESSIE IS THIEF AND A LIAR! I was buying a car from the car lot and a set of tires from the yard. When I arrived to pay the last 400 of the $2000 total Jesse claimed that I had not given him any money and to show me a receipt. (with a smart ass smile) I paid $1600 cash the day before at 5:20pm when they were closed the day prior. Only Jessie and the owner John were there pulling out of the parking. Jesse said he would just write it up in the receipt the next day. I should have never trusted him but I had done business at the yard before so I thought he was a stand up guy. STAY AWAY!!!! Had my car towed for expired registration, a mistake on my part. Tried to call to get information to resolve it, and was badgered and threatened by the lady running the place. I called back up and talked to another lady who I tried to reason with and was hung up on again. By the way, they drug my car along the ground with their tow truck, and messed up my axle/muffler, so I have to take it to court. They claim it was like that all along. Then, to top it off, I got a call from their number and it was a guy telling me that if I did take it to court, that he has my address and would be paying me and my family a visit while we are sleeping. Needless to say, I will not be pursuing the court case, my family's safety comes first. These guys are in bed with the Concord PD, so I don't expect that being threatened, will be believed or taken seriously. You would think the Concord PD, would go for a more reputable company to do their dirty work, instead of the "legal chop shop" Buyer beware. read more

For seven years, I dealt with this company. Not because I ever had a tow from them, but because it showed up on my credit report that I owed them over $1000. They said it was for towing and storage of a motorcycle which I never owned. They refused to even acknowledge that there was a possibility there was a mistake. They, however never contacted me via phone or mail about a debt to be collected, nor did a collection agency ever call or mail me. It was just on my credit report. The only reason I only dealt with them for seven years, and not longer, is that after seven years it is off your credit report. Because of their poor service/scam/fraud, I tell everyone about it to make sure that this business loses as much business as I can make it. read more

I had my car towed to McHugh's Towing by Concord police dept for driving with no license although I had a licensed driver in my passenger seat who could have driven the car. The officer towed my car and put a 30 hold on it although it was registered and insured. After 3 day of my car being at McHugh's tow yard McHugh's put a lien on my car. I never received the lien papers which I was told would be mailed to me. I spoke with the receptionist of Mchugh a least 2 times a week concerning my car. She assured me she would resend the papers so I could have the lien removed. Needless to say I never received any papers. After the 30 days were up my car was sold without any notice. I just happen to call back to let them know I still hadnt received the paperwork and was told they had sold the car 2 days ago for three times less that the blue book value of the car. I was told I owed the tow company and additional $1300 or it would be placed on my credit. I called back today to get the name of the owner and the receptionist whom which I had been in contact with over the last month. I was told that everything was done legally and that I was lying about not receiving the paperwork. I also found out that the receptionist goes by different names depending on who she is speaking with. I was then told by the receptionist that if I called her one more time that she would sue me for harassment and she hung up on me. Im just dont understand why she was so mad at me for inquiring about my property that they took ownership of and sold without my knowledge. This company has an F as their grade on Better Business Bureau 's . I believe McHugh's Towing and Concord Police Dept are scamming people of out their cars and making profit off of it. Its not right and I'm going to fight it until the end. For some reason lawyers are somehow intimated by this county. I need a fair less lawyer who is really out for justice verses money. However I'm willing to pay to let companies like this know its not OK to use pieces of the law to rob people. read more
