I love that there's a location in the valley now. They've been here for a while now as I remember when they first opened. It was always the original location on third that I used to always go to as it was close to work. Now there's another location without having to cross over the hill. Not my first time here. The location is amazing as it along the little strip of Ventura place. Just north of Ventura blvd along a cute area with other little boutique shops. It's not a big place but it's quite roomy both inside and with the outdoor seating. They pretty much have everything. Cute place for a nice meal catching up with friends or pick up some of the to go items. Everything is always fresh and prepared daily. Not only meals, they have a really extensive cheese selections. A gourmet shop with tasty pastries, cute souvenir and good food. More than likely you'll run to into someone in the industry also enjoying their meal. Common courtesy, respect people while they're dining. It's also a nice place to grab a coffee and pastry and people watch.

    Mixed berry scone

Joan's missed the mark on so many different things. Service was great from anyone I interacted with and I love the layout and design of the space. However, the food and coffee are just lackluster. The vanilla muffin thing had great texture, it was fluffy, pillowy soft, and a thin crust. Flavor wise, it was poor. There was hardly any vanilla flavor and besides the cinnamon sugar coating, it was just like eating a plain cupcake. the crust on the mixed berry scone was fantastic, so crispy and caramelized. But it was so thick, dense, and doughy with nothing to account for it. And then the coffee . . . I ordered an Americano and the barista asked if I wanted milk in it. I've never had, seen, or been asked if I want milk in an americano. Fine, not a big deal. But then I took the first sip and got the bitter taste of burnt coffee and a mouth full of coffee grounds. I took a second sip and threw out the cup. Sad experience all around

It's a fight to find parking over here, but my sandwich, and cold brew were worth it! I asked the person who took our order if they could heat up my deli meat (because I'm pregnant and trying avoid listeria), and initially she declined, but when I mentioned I was pregnant she said she could do it (pregnancy bonus I guess?) I ordered the Turkey Club with bacon, butter lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, and added some avocado. The sandwich was great, and I enjoyed my cold brew as well. My friend grabbed a Chinese Chicken Salad, and mocha. She was a little thrown off by the fact it looks like it comes in serving bowl/dog-type bowl, but she said she enjoyed the salad, although she wished the chicken wasn't breaded. Service leaves a little to be desired in terms of friendliness, but the food and drinks are decent. Ambiance is nice sitting outside, and conducive to catching up with a friend.

Yet another great experience in this spot. Their Short Rib Sandwich is nothing Short of amazing. The meat literally melts in your mouth and is very delicious. The sandwich comes on a perfectly grilled white bread, with cheese and caramelised onions and some greens. Very yummy combination. In addition, they have probably the best chocolate chip cookie that I've had in LA. The only thing is , I almost needed to beg a lady working there to warm it up for me. The lady kept telling me that she just took it out of the oven. After touching the cookie and realising that it's barely room temperature, I needed to ask her again to heat it up nonetheless, because I like my cookie here temperature hot, so it is slightly crispy, while the chocolate chips themselves are melted, and delicious. At the end, I got my cookie served right and it was amazingly good. All in all, Joan's is a great place with great food, just don't resist warming up my cookie!).

Not bad and nice ingredients but barely warm. Bacon was dried out and brittle. Probably a one and done for me.

The service here has definitely improved and the space remains just as welcoming, bright and spotless as ever. But let's get to the star of the show: the smash burger! If there were such a thing as a 6-star rating, I'd give it here without hesitation. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to be blown away by a burger at this spot, but that's exactly what happened. The magic? The pickles. I'm pretty sure they make them in house and it shows. They are crisp, fresh, seasoned with dilll and carry just the right amount of salt. That tangy acidity cuts through the richness of the double smashd patties and melted cheese. The patties themselves were textbook perfection: crispy carmelized edges with juicy flavorful centers. Every bite was a perfect balance: pure unpretentious deliciousnesssss!!! Behind every great burger is a greater fry. Not too greasy or salty, the potatoes and oil used are of good quality which helps to enhance the flavor experience. We also tried the roast chicken with vegetables. The chicken was tender and nicely cooked, though it didn't reach the same wow factor as the burger. What did surprise me (in the best way) was their cheese and butter selection. They stock Beurre butter from France... the gold standard of butter and truly the only one i'd call "real butter" here in the States. So yes.... I'll be back. Not just for that phenomenal burger and fries, but also to stock up on butter that makes everything taste better.

    Fingerling with chimichurri
    Rae C.

Ordered the short rib and originally hash browns on the side. Once I walked in, I saw that they had another area with items that weren't on the menu including fingerling potatoes with chimichurri so had them swap out the hashbrowns for these. I also noticed that the sandwich didn't come with a sauce so found that they had a garlic aioli on the side of the fried chicken sandwich and as predicted, it made the sandwich taste so much better than it already was (which it indeed was). The potatoes were okay and which it came with more sauce. The service was great though and it was pretty spacious inside and out. The menu is pretty pricey so can't come here often but would defiantly return. The outside was super dog friendly too!

    Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich

I tried the lox bagel for the first time today and once again they didn't disappoint. Most restaurants you order a lox bagel and they serve it to you with each ingredients separately soI really appreciate the fact that they actually created a lox sandwich here and I didn't need to build the sandwich myself. The sandwich was yummy and refreshing. I would 100% order this again. It was a really busy Sunday, but we still managed to find a table before our food came out. I picked up my favorite pickles from here too to enjoy during Fourth of July (overpriced? Absolutely! But I do love them, so I wanted to treat myself)

Breakfast burrito (ask for the veggie version and they sub veggie sausage for the bacon)
    Cari N.

Joan's on Third in Studio City was great. We were able to order quickly and easily found a table for 3. We had the breakfast burrito (they can substitute veggie sausage for the bacon), the English muffin breakfast sandwich, the turkey and avocado sandwich, a slice of pumpkin bread, a lavender matcha latte and a mimosa. The sandwiches and burrito were amazing, and so filling we each took a half home. I had the breakfast burrito with veggie sausage and it was amazing. The pumpkin bread looked boring but the flavors were great and it was very moist. The latte was beautiful and good. I'd pass on the mimosa, it was served in a basic water glass and not very appealing. All in an all good food and good dining experience, I'll be back.

Been wanting to visit Joan's on Third in Studio. I was a regular at the other location and love it. I ordered a delicious cheese pizza. It's a good people watching spot. Fresh clean space with lots of delicious food. Espresso was delicious. Excellent service. Lovely strip of shops.

    Brisket sandwich
    Rima Z.

Always enjoy the option for a nice casual lunch when nosing around the deli. Spacious, airy, and lots of fun things to try. Prompt and efficient service to the table. Brisket sandwich was beautifully grilled and full of unctuous meat and cheese. Tough to make a decision on which salad option to select. My companion is a fiend for tuna, so that was quickly decided. The Brussel sprouts contains dates which was an intriguing combo - done. Amd thé beans also looked good. Tuna was full of extras, but a tad dry. Thé Brussel sorouts had nice pieces of date and shaved Parmesan. The beans were a nice variety and a tangy dressing.

Love this place. Best short rib sandwich and their asian chicken salad is to die for. The place is really cute and laid back. Highly suggested for a yummy Sunday meal.

Don't get the Chinese chicken salad. It should be much more elaborate for the price. Paying $17 for chopped lettuce and sugar tbh.

In addition to their expertly-crafted pastries, Sweet Lily offers a great variety of French dishes and packaged food items. My group ordered the Sugar Beignet, Raspberry Croissant, and Coffee Croissant - which were all wonderful. The Raspberry Croissant had a not-too-sour fresh jelly filling and was definitely the crowd favorite, but the thick, latte-flavored filling in the Coffee Croissant made it a close second place. The fresh-squeezed orange juice at $5 felt like an absolute bargain, and the Cappuccino was also well-executed. The real stars of the show were the entrees, though. Both the Avocado Toast plate and Croque Monsieur truly tasted like a trip to France. They were hearty and full of flavor, without feeling too heavy. The Sweet Lily twist on Avocado Toast includes melted mozzarella and slices grapes, which really elevated the dish! The potatoes and salads that came as complimentary sides were a welcome surprise, and just as craveable as the entrees themselves. I truly don't think there's a bad thing to order here, and I look forward to returning to this bright and welcoming spot to try more!

Near Barham and on the way to Hollywood. They have a few metered parking spots out front, but I went in and asked if they had their own parking and Mehdi told me they had a couple of spots in the alley behind the building, so that's where we parked. It's a cute place, not too fancy. They refer to it as a Boutique Pastry Shop. There are some snacks/knick knacks available for purchase, along with a refrigerator of drinks towards the back. The left side of the space is the coffee bar and the right side has the pastry cases and food menus. This is where we placed our order with Mehdi, who was pleasant, nice and knowledgeable about the menu and all the pastry items. I was talking to another employee, Gabriel, and asking him questions about the omelettes. He talked me through a few different options and he was also pleasant and kind. I decided on the Veggie Omelette (add mozzarella +$2, and side baguette +$1) with a Decaf Latte (+$0.75 for Oat Milk). My son ordered the Chicken Caprese Panini, which came with Pesto and Mozzarella Cheese. ($17). We also wanted to sample some pastries and we got 1 Nutella Beignet ($5.50), 1 Caribbean & 1 Red Carpet ($8 each), 1 Pear/Almond Tart and 1 Raspberry Tart ($6.50 each). Our total for everything including tip was $91.59, and I'm still kind of in shock over it! This place was SO EXPENSIVE!! Mehdi plated our pastries for us and Gabriel immediately got to work on the omelette and panini. We sat down at one of their many tables and got situated while we waited for the food. It was pretty empty as we were there around 3pm, an hour before they closed. There were two other tables being occupied while we were there. They had nice pop music playing, ranging from 90s-00s songs and artists. There were some nice twinkly lights above us along with the regular lighting of the restaurant. The space was also very clean, but I noticed some wear and tear on the tables/chairs. Once Mehdi brought our food out, we got to eating. My omelette also came with a small side salad with balsamic vinaigrette and some potatoes. I think everything tasted good, especially the omelette, but the potatoes were a bit too greasy for my taste. I also think the portion size was too small for the price. This statement goes for everything we ordered. It was all extremely overpriced for the portions they're offering. My son said his panini was just mediocre and bland. He opened it and added a bunch of salt to it. It was also very skimpy on the chicken, about 4-5 tiny slices inside. Moving onto the pastries, the Pear/Almond was my favorite. It wasn't overly sweet (actually, none of the pastries were), which is what I prefer. It was very delicate and tasty. I also had a bite of the Caribbean which was delicious. They went well with my latte, which tasted very good. I will be trying the rest later. My son had a bite of everything and liked the Caribbean and the Nutella Beignet, saying the rest were just average. I didn't use the restroom but my son did and said it was spotless clean, stocked with toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and room spray. The trash was empty, floors and counters were clean. They have one men's and one women's restroom and it's spacious. They began closing down the place about 5 minutes after we finished our bites and nibbling. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience by any means, but I don't think I'll be rushing here anytime soon to try it again. It was just outrageously expensive for what it was. I understand the cost of ingredients, labor, etc it takes to produce pastries and viennoiserie, but I just don't think the quality matched the prices. Just my opinion. I would say the service was great, both Gabriel and Mehdi are great employees! I may or may not come back. We'll see.
