My biscuit had gravy in it, although I prefer them dry so I can add jelly. The gravy was decent and I still added some jelly. Price point wasn't bad either. Service When I went, there were only 5 people there total so the waiter could make decent rotations. I was asked for a refill maybe twice in the time I was there. Ambiance This place is down town and it's an old down town. The actual restaurant is on the top floor of a casino. It really gives an old saloon feel, like cowboys and the wild west. Overall decent place, check it out if you're in the area.

This was a cool little spot on the inside and had great atmosphere within nostalgic feel. We sat down and ordered pretty quickly. Our appetizer came out relatively fast. But several groups of people came in after us and it took a very long time to receive our food. We waited for the better part of an hour, we were actually getting ready to pay for our appetizer and drinks and leave when the food finally came out. My friends both ordered the bison burger, and that they said it was very dry and overcooked. I had an elk sausage that was in a hotdog bun covered with green chili. The bun was so soggy that I could not pick it up, I had to eat with a fork. I believe that there were only two people to take care of the entire place and I think that they got overwhelmed. I can imagine this is a cool spot to have some beers and see some live music, but the food was average at best and it just took forever to receive it.

Absolutely phenomenal experience at White Buffalo Grille!…read more The amazing service started before we even stepped foot in the restaurant. We spoke with Lu beforehand, and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of for our 13th wedding anniversary. When we arrived, Princess, the hostess, was completely in the loop about our reservation and anniversary. Our server, Jessica, was amazing too. She was attentive, on top of everything, and made sure we had a great experience. And the FOOD! Everything was phenomenal. Great service, incredible food, and such a memorable anniversary dinner. 1000% will be back! If you're in Black Hawk, you need to check this place out!

Our server (whose unique name I sadly can't remember, possibly starting with a "U") was attentive, friendly, and the highlight of the night! *Thanks gurl!* We split the New York strip, which was cooked perfectly to temperature. Unfortunately, the steak itself was pretty fatty and more chewy than I'd expect for the price. Good execution, just not great quality. The Brussels sprouts were flavorful and came with a delicious chili-style sauce, though they were a little firmer than I prefer. The baked potato, however, was surprisingly hard and tasted like something I could easily make at home. Also, my cocktail was very light -- I could barely taste the vodka compared to other spots in town. We did appreciate the complimentary cheesecake and apple pie-style dessert, (we came up for our 5 year wedding anniversary) which was a nice touch. Overall, great service and atmosphere, but the food didn't quite match the price point.

This goes into my list of top ten meals of all time! We received a text ten minutes before our…read morereservation time stating that our table was ready so we would have time to walk across the casino. We arrived and the host showed us immediately to a table, but we requested the bar since there were still seats available. The restaurant was romantic and dark, with an open kitchen so you could watch the chefs create their magic. Tyler was our bartender, server, and entertainer that evening, and helped explain the menu to us, which included a tablet with pictures and descriptions of each meal so you wouldn't be left guessing. He also kept us laughing and we ended up staying longer than planned (and ordering a LOT more than we had planned) because we were enjoying his conversation so much. To start us off with drinks, at Tyler's recommendation, I went for the Smoke Signal (I'm a sucker for Mezcal) and loved the balance of alcohol, smoke and sweetness. Our appetizers were the Fry Bread Esquites - pillowy fry bread topped with perfectly seasoned charred corn, cotija and zesty chipotle aioli, and the Pan Seared Shrimp served with blue corn tortillas, guacamole and the most delicious tomato macha. The shrimp aren't completely peeled, so beware there is more than the tails to remove! For the main meal we split the Pork Tomahawk - the most expensive thing on the menu (besides the steak offerings), and it was worth it! The most tender and moist pork I've ever had, with sweet potato purée, grilled mushrooms, fresh broccolini and a sweet honey chipotle sauce. We were too full for dessert (I honestly haven't consumed so much in one sitting, but it was too good to stop!), but we were able to fit in one more drink at the end. I chose the Sweet Venom, recommended by Tyler, which was a sweeter drink with a floater of Tingala which makes your tongue go numb. Tyler offered us a little splash of the Tingala on its own which was a fun experience! It was a pricey meal for sure, but worth more than every cent we spent. Highly recommend the dishes and beverages we got, and if you're lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar when Tyler is working, you're guaranteed to have a great night!

And kissed by the fire grill. I would not order the so called char broiled care asada, as the kitchen pre slices the beef, so it doesn't actually get a char grill. It's a sad expression of a charrasco. All cook should have knives to slices a properly cooked steak, one would think. One major frustration is the fact that the open kitchen staff are blasting their own music whilst the Spanish guitar trio is also playing. While perhaps those sitting farther in the restaurant cannot hear the kitchen staff music. Those at the bar fale and the communal table behind the bar are going to be annoyed by having to listen to music by a kitchen staff that should not be having music playing. It is an open concept kitchen! The bartender Tyler did an excellent job of explaining the menu with descriptions and suggestions based upon my tastes. And assisted when items didn't meet expectations though. Monarch and Mariposa are lucky to have him!
