1 star - Poor customer service and misleading return process I purchased a $600 pair of boots and contacted customer service before returning them to ask if there was a more economical way to ship them back, since return shipping was my responsibility. I was explicitly told that shipping was "on me," with no alternative methods suggested. As a result, I paid $58 to return the boots. After multiple email exchanges, I was then told after the fact that I "should have just mailed them back" for approximately $24-$25 -- information that was never shared when I asked directly. To make matters worse, the refund process took nearly eight weeks, with repeated back-and-forth and no accountability or proactive communication. This was not a policy issue -- it was a communication and customer service failure. Transparency should not be retroactive. 600 pair of boots, customer should not have to pay for a return. read more

Seems like a scam type of business . Not the good old boy attitude they portray themselves to be . Very poor customer service . Once they get your money they do not want to refund in a normal time period . I returned the boots on the 6th of the month and it was not posted on my account until the 30th which happened to be the day that I could file a dispute with Visa . Document everything . Customer service would not return my calls so I talked to someone in sales who could help me . She said the refund was processed on the 10th and it was out of their hands and would take 1-2 weeks . My credit union said that it is business days that count and if I had not received a refund by the 30th they could file a dispute . When I returned the boots unworn the sales lady said that she could not give me a receipt for the refund but someone else said that they could after I started to make a fuss over it . The boots made the balls of both feet hurt to the point of thinking they were bruised . I did not notice that until the next day after purchase . Glad I did not wear them outside . Everything is exceptional, from the brake in period which took a hike and a half to, to durability and ability to withstand and uphold in the demanding field. These boots are the best in the industry. For my line of work, they've lasted 4 years strong, and still working. I purchased the OT back in 2022. Got fitted and paid extra to have them made in 5 weeks! Year 2 I decided to get them rebuilt from a man I recommend in Clovis. I've never had a blister, (knock on wood) and I oil this pair 3- 4 times a month. Just recently I got a hiking pair with a heel. Somewhere on here years ago I have a very positive review. Their customer service was so awesome back then. I came from whites and this brand was awesome. I have sent at least 10 people there way maybe more. I will not ever come back here and it's really over one simple thing. I want to pay for my rebuild/resoles when I pick them up like most of the other boot makers. They refuse. $330 for a rebuild is already ridiculous but 14-16 weeks is another level. The last 2 resoles, 1 rebuild, and a custom build have been wrong. The custom pair got resoled last year and they didn't even call me they sent it to my house and when I opened them they were a completely different sole. I went from logger style bottom with heel and they sent me the work style with a small heel and that's after waiting over 12 weeks. I'm bull legged and so this custom pair was supposed to have special work done to the heel which at least once I paid for when they were originally built and I asked for that when they got resoled and neither time that was done. I could dive deeper but you get the point. They used to remember my first name and you would go in there and the boot makers were in the back. Now they got HR and customer service line and they are clearly bigger and act better then they used to be. I think the owners have lost the connection with their clients and it is showing in their customer service and also quality of boots. My custom pair has soft leather on one side. I never said anything but ya know what another reason I'll be going somewhere else. All I asked for was to drop my boots off for a rebuild and to pay for them when they were done so I could come down and inspect them before paying. They refused. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Jarod is rude, speaks over you, can't give straight answers, lies and has no customer service skills whatsoever. If you have or end up with a pair of JK's and have to deal with Jarod make sure to not hurt his feelings. His feelings are more important than getting the customer answer they deserve. Jarod claims to be the manager and also claims the owner has authorized him to speak on his behalf. I have a hard time believing Jarod because if it's true JK would not be in business. If you need a rebuild, good luck. I was told that rebuilds aren't profitable for the company and instead they repeatedly tried to push me to buy a new pair of boots. JK claims they custom make by hand boots that are rebuild able for life. That's what a customer should expect, since that's what they claim. JK has now had my boots in for a rebuild in their possession for over 17 weeks. JK took payment on 8/7/24 for the rebuild. After calling multiple times asking what's going on, I was told another 2 to 4 weeks. I asked Jarod what's the hold up, all he could say was he didn't really know, maybe the stitching or a machine went down, never a definitive answer. Mind you I waited 4 days just to be told he still didn't know whats causing the delay and that there was nothing he could/would do about it. No expediting, just continue to wait on JK. How can you run a business and not know what's going on and why products aren't be finished in a timely manner, or at least within the time quoted which was 12-16. I know why, because JK rebuilds aren't profitable just like I was told by one of the answering agents. Jarod at one point suggested I take back the boots and JK refund the rebuild which I considered until I was made aware of the fact that JK has already disassembled my boots. The boots are useless to me at point in time. I've had these boots for a few years now, multiple resoles by a local cobbler in my home town due to JK's ridiculous lead times. The boots are ok, quality is on the lower end for a custom hand made boot, workmanship is below par. I have to use insoles due to the unevenness. JK is growing and expanding, now offering cowboy boots and others styles in trade for unrealistic ridiculous lead times, horrible customer service/experience, reduced quality and craftsmanship/workmanship. JK will never take responsibility or ownership of their inability to meet deadlines. The customer will always be forced to wait on JK. Do your research before dropping $600+ on a pair of JK's. The reviews on the JK website, google and Yelp reviews should be read. I wish I had. I also have a pair a Nicks, the rebuild lead time is 12 weeks and I get to keep wearing my boots until they are ready for them. Just schedule a rebuild, ship to Nicks when it's your turn. read more

Customer service is terrible. Very rude and dismissive. Boots had quality issues but he just wanted to blame me not knowing how boots should fit or be broken in. I have owned several pairs of Whites, so I realize what it takes to break in. I gave up trying to get the issues addressed after a couple months. Donated the boots. Wasn't planning to review until I started shopping for replacements and it started to sting again. I ordered from Nicks and service was outstanding. Now for honest non sponsored review - so I ordered "in stock" 300 with safety toe which took 6 weeks to receive, unboxed and went through the whole 4 page FAQ of how the exchange and return process differs from website no biggie other than basically don't wear or oil them at all if you plan on exchanging but oil them if there are hot spots while wearing them - confused yet it gets better. In the box were Spenco insoles again confused as the 9 iron according to them and a majority of my work boots should suffice until break in. Took boots out of bags and that's when things went south. First this is JKs lowest cost boot at roughly $400.00 with specs that say between 5-6oz leather(same as Redwing Heritage for example). These have a feel of 3-4oz(Danner Bull Run for example) The leather is also glove/jacket soft in upper and vamp so as far as longevity it could go 6-18months before replacement. A quick glance inside and now see why the need for the added insoles - fit and stretch of upper and vamp around the leather insole is a sloppy mess of gaps and cobblers glue with the right foot in worse shape than the left(asymmetric) this sloppiness extends to the placement and fit of the composite toe. I check the stitching on the larger than normally seen stitch down welt see they tried to tighten a gap by adding overlay stitches. I slide my feet in and due to the noticeable gaps insert the insoles just to have a better base. So with all the issues why didn't I exchange them - can't afford an additional 6 or more weeks to only receive the same suspect quality let alone the return process is just as much of a headache - why because a work boot has to be worn and the moment it is the whole return/exchange is non existent including the warranty. With the 300 being the "entry level" boot the expectations were the same that the same quality that is put into their other boots would be there unfortunately they were not and it seems JK missed the mark on these like Whites did with the Perry. For clarification on my expectations - I've worn Viberg, WESCO, Hoffman, Matterhorn, Red Wing 899, Halls, Franks, Nicks, Thorogood, Carolina, and Wolverine. So I have experience in everything from custom to mass produced handmade and machine made. Hopefully this helps in your decision making. - update I have received a request from Jared with JK Boots not to post any review that is negative as it hurts the image of JK Boots and due to the issues they feel that they cannot meet my expectations of quality and will give me a full refund in return for removing any negative post instead of just correcting the quality issues. I will be happy to forward the emails for you to see for yourself. It's kinda funny to see that the boots they provided Rose Anvil are nowhere the same as what was delivered to me especially when you don't see the midsole in gaps around the insole like in mine. read more

Received several recommendations for JK Tailors and for that reason, decided to bring my daughter's Prom dress to them to have a corset back added. They did a fantastic job! My daughter's dress turned out beautiful! The back truly added to the dress and she was the "Bell Of The Ball." Also, the price was truly reasonable. The cost to add the new back was just $55.00. Ordered an in stock item, 3 days later, did not even shipped yet, I canceled the order because they took so long, then they call me back almost begging me to not cancel the order and will ship them right away, I said NOPE, I had time to find other boots manufacturer with better and faster shipping process, honestly I don't think they even had my boots in stock as advertised on their website, their excuse was "we had to do Quality inspection", seriously?, You do inspection on the boots after you list an item as ready to ship?, and 3 days later you are still not ready to ship due to "performing inspection"?, smell pretty fishy here..., Then on the phone, they told me it would not be a problem to credit back to my card since it never shipped and I wanted to cancel the order period. 12 days later NO credit applied to my card, I called my credit company and filed a claim. These Forefronts are my second pair and last pair of JK boots. The first set was the Superduty model and was essentially perfect. The forefront boots were lacking in final construction specifically the sole. First off I noticed the discoloration on the toe, I emailed JK and didn't receive a return email. I then called and left a message and got a callback, sent a second email with pictures, and was told to go ahead and oil them up and they would color up and I wouldn't notice the mistake they made on the toe. Against my initial thought of returning them, I oiled them and continued oiling them monthly since August and you can still see the discoloration. This was a horrible mistake as it did nothing to fix the issue and now I could no longer return them. If that's not bad enough, several weeks after I started wearing them a co-worker noticed the boots are not finished the same and the soles are different widths. They are both the same size and width but the sole was finished more on the right boot than on the left leaving the right boot narrower by 1/8 of an inch on just the inside lip of the sole. For the price/quality and lies by the JK rep, I give the Forefront and customer service 1 star. In the future, I'll be shopping at Nick's or Frank's which sell in the same price range but have a much higher standard of production and QA. Not the best advertisement for JK walking around in these when your co-workers wear really nicely crafted Nicks. But anyone that asks about my boots gets the full story and my thoughts about the company. If you are buying from JK you best look them over really well before wearing or oiling them, it's a lot of money to spend on something this dissappointing. read more

Great Boots. Excellent Customer Service. How good? I ordered my second pair of boots based on positive experience with my first pair of JK's Boots. I screwed up the fit sheet measurements, and it was clearly my fault. Tim could have made me eat the whole cost for the purchase. Instead Tim charged me a very minimal fee, rebuilt the boots, and had them to me very quickly. The boots fit and wear great. I can find no fault with JK's build, and I am a picky customer. I could not be happier with the boots! I have worn boots at work for 35+ years. I own Nicks and Whites, and JK's are every bit as well constructed. I just spent $625 on a pair from AR and it took nearly 10 weeks and in the middle he decided to stop building the boot all together and didn't call or email me at all. After watching the video of the tree guy on YouTube and learning it was possible to have the welt/sole made narrower so it doesn't stick out so far from the leather boot, I ordered a custom pair. Lane, that helped me at JK boots was great! I had 4 requests for my custom ordered boots. I even called Tim to confirm. 1 month and 29 days later Tim calls to tell me my boots should arrive the next day and that they got half of my 4 requests right on my boots. Got the boots the next day and the welt/sole wasn't narrowed up and the rolled top was missed. I tried the boots on and as I'm thinking how stupid wide they look, my wife says, "why does the sole stick out so far" and I said it's not suppose to. Called Tim and he had a attitude about me having a problem about the things they missed and that they were just cosmetic and basically I should let it go. He offered to build me a new pair but by now I'm over it and just wanted to return them. He even said "haven't you ever made a mistake"? JK Tailors-Excellent Work I'm not tall so I always have to have new pants altered. Generally when I find a new tailor I send in an older pair of pants that needs to be altered. Then after I see that the work is high quality work, I will send in a couple pair of more expensive slacks. That was the case with JK Tailors located at 36 East Wellesley. You go North on Division. Turn right on Wellesley and you will find them almost immediately on the right side of the street. If you are looking for old world quality then you will love Natalie and John. Natalie appears to be the tailor and John custom makes extremely high quality work shoes and work boots. They are a very friendly couple. If its quality you want this is the place for you. I left my first pair of pants on Friday and picked them up the following Friday. Quality work takes a little extra time so don't rush them, unless its absolutely necessary. When I returned to pick up the first pair of pants I saw that the work was excellent and left two new, more expensive pair of dress slacks. I would not steer you in the wrong direction. I've found a trusty dual-generation cobbler family business in JK Boots. I have brought them two pairs of shoes to repair, one pair of old Lowa hiking boots, which were splitting at the front sole, repaired by the father by gluing and reinforced thick stitching; and a pair of Prada pumps, repaired by one of the sons with new stiletto heels and a rubber sole on the front to increase their longevity. Both pairs were expertly repaired and I am really pleased with the quality and appearance. Payment is up front, and the work was done in only a few days or over the weekend. As someone who values extending the life of beloved shoes, it means a great deal to me to have a cobbler business I can trust. JK also makes custom boots, some samples of which are displayed in the storefront, and do tailoring & alterations, neither of which I have used but seem would make it a nice one-stop-shop for apparel livening needs. read more

I am using my husband's account to review JK Boots. I work long hours on hard surface floors, and I do a lot of walking. I have RYN rocker shoes that don't make my feet hurt. However the heel rims wore out in a few weeks, JK sewed leather backing on them and they are perfect!!!!! I don't even get blisters. Years later the soul and shoe began to separate, JK hand sewed them together and glued them. Good as new! JK also fixed my husband's Keen shoes that were separating and the souls always break down. I love that JK Boot's repairs last a long time, it is well worth the money for happy feet. read more
