Fixed the zipper of my specialty motorcycle boot in one day. The owner was polite, efficient, and obviously knowledgable. Good experience.

John repaired several pairs of my heeled dress boots, and made them better than new.

They said they would call me when the repair guy got in, as the repair and the boot store are separate. A month passed in silence, and I finally called just to see if any progress had been made. They informed me that they were just about to get started on them. As I was not born yesterday I presume that they had yet to look at them, that or the repair guy was taking some pretty serious time off. But all that's neither here nor there. Because don't worry, its about get worse. After the repair guy was back from what I can only presume was the cobbler convention, he did actually get around to working on them. I picked them up and the sole came off the second time of wearing. Just separated as I took them off. Never even wore them to work and the repair broke. But the real kicker is that when I brought them back in to get more than a ruined pair of boots for 150 dollars, the guy was immediately upset that I would think it was a botched repair job. He raised his voice with a healthy portion of defensive insecurity and informed me that it was just the glues fault, as it was clearly not the store's. He also took the opportunity to educate me further, explaining that I should really be more careful when taking work boots off so they don't break. Work boots, he was kind enough to explain, (and not that many people know this) are supposed to withstand all the abuse of a day at work on a construction site, but are actually not designed for kicking them off at the end of the day, as that is what will really do them in.... But I'm not the expert here, which he was sure to keep reminding me.

Charging an existing customer (myself) 20% for an online order that was canceled (at the suggestion of his employee to AVOID 20% charge) within hours is just ridiculous, who does this? According to Franks own words, Amazon is considering the same policy (what, the policy of screwing paying customers? ) I placed an order for a second pair of IN STOCK boots in a different size and was immediately (within hours) advised by one of the employees I should not do that because I would be charged 20% restocking fee. No problem, I fully understand. I immediately told the employee to cancel the 2nd order for me and hold the funds for a custom pair I had planned but still got charged 20% when I ultimately changed my mind wth. Regarding my custom order that they had been holding my funds for - I tried to place the custom order for a $850/$900 pair of boots, was supposed to get a call back on a certain day which never happened, so I let a couple days go by then followed up with a call and was told I would def get a call back by the end of the day, never happened again so I let a couple more days go by and then called to tell them to forget it refund my funds because I'm not doing business, giving my hard earned money to a company that treats their customers like this. These people act like they actually have something nobody else has, it's actually sad to see the owner of a business with so much potential be so cancerous to its own well-being.

They run a FB group where you supposedly can't share things non-Franks related--which is understandable (but they allow select people to do it all the time). When you post photos of your boots that you've gotten altered somewhere else (b/c of your specific foot shape they couldn't accomodate for), they first censor you from the group and you have to get all your posts "approved" first. Then they just remove you when you call them out on their BS. I get much better pricing/service from their competitor JK now and have bought 6 pairs from them in the last year.

Now, since I live in south San Diego, CA- the nearest Red Wing doesn't have the amazing selection complete to this location. So, we stopped by here on our way to the airport to head back home. Remember, due to COVID19- this location (from my visit June 13th)- is practicing social distancing. About 4 people are allowed in this store at a time. I picked the women's Iron Rangers in black. Sunny was the one helping me. Although there were only sizes 8 and 9s available in brown- I figured let me place an order ($10 delivery fee via UPS) to get shipped to my house. At that visit- I felt the 8s were too tight. So, I went ahead and ordered the 8.5s. I had a few questions for Sunny- since Red Wings are a pricey (but, we'll worth every cent) purchase. Since the Iron Rangers are stitched bottom- the product can be resoled for $100!! Heck yeah! Free laces- CHECK! Boot shining- CHECK!! But, Sunny mentioned if the size 8.5s didn't fit- I would have to ship them back to Spokane- to get the correct size. And I would have to pay for the shipping. A week later, I did receive the 8.5s- and they were too big. So, I called the store back & spoke with Kathy (store manager). She made note to have the size 8s sent out upon receiving my 8.5s. Keep in mind- shipping comes from Minnesota. I called Kathy back the following week to inquire about my order and she said within a week. However, I got my size 8s the next day. I specify wanted these boots for riding my Harley. And I'm in love with them. Kathy called me a few days later to check on my shipment. How great is that?! She even mentioned- if my nearest local doesn't have a style shoe I'm interested in- they can actually order it to that store- that way I can try it out! Now I know!

I was never offered any guidance on how they should fit or what I would be using them for. I was just handed a box and told to try them on. I laced them up myself and at the time they felt fine with very thin socks and my feet not being warmed up.
