The owner Frank has a lot to learn about customer service but judging by the way he treated me over the phone I doubt he ever will. Charging an existing customer (myself) 20% for an online order that was canceled (at the suggestion of his employee to AVOID 20% charge) within hours is just ridiculous, who does this? According to Franks own words, Amazon is considering the same policy (what, the policy of screwing paying customers? ) I placed an order for a second pair of IN STOCK boots in a different size and was immediately (within hours) advised by one of the employees I should not do that because I would be charged 20% restocking fee. No problem, I fully understand. I immediately told the employee to cancel the 2nd order for me and hold the funds for a custom pair I had planned but still got charged 20% when I ultimately changed my mind wth. Regarding my custom order that they had been holding my funds for - I tried to place the custom order for a $850/$900 pair of boots, was supposed to get a call back on a certain day which never happened, so I let a couple days go by then followed up with a call and was told I would def get a call back by the end of the day, never happened again so I let a couple more days go by and then called to tell them to forget it refund my funds because I'm not doing business, giving my hard earned money to a company that treats their customers like this. These people act like they actually have something nobody else has, it's actually sad to see the owner of a business with so much potential be so cancerous to its own well-being. read more

This business USED to be top-tier, not just with the product but also the customer service. It's gone from A+ to trash recently. They run a FB group where you supposedly can't share things non-Franks related--which is understandable (but they allow select people to do it all the time). When you post photos of your boots that you've gotten altered somewhere else (b/c of your specific foot shape they couldn't accomodate for), they first censor you from the group and you have to get all your posts "approved" first. Then they just remove you when you call them out on their BS. I get much better pricing/service from their competitor JK now and have bought 6 pairs from them in the last year. read more

I called to place my order as opposed to ordering online because I had a few custom options that I don't think I would have been able to complete through that process. I spoke with a person who was very knowledgeable. They helped me verify the specific width because the lace-to-toe style fits slightly different than my other boots. They were also really cool about fulfilling a request that I didn't see online. They gave me an approximate time frame for which they would be completed. The boots were delivered on time. About 4 months which to me is on the faster side of lead times with this style of hand made boot. The boots came out perfect. I'm not exaggerating. The spacing between the three layers of stitching was incredibly consistent. Sometimes a sewer can make the stitching uneven which gives a wavy look the stitch. The perimeter of the sole that gets sanded is absolutely perfect between the pair. These details are not usually a huge deal with a work boot or even a heritage work boot. But I don't plan to work in these so to have the crazy level of attention to detail put into this pair is awesome. Frank's exceeded my expectations. read more

My feet have never hurt so bad, wearing these boots was actually crippling!!! A 12-hour drive to be fit in store; despite my saying the boot felt too tight and short, the fitter assured me the fit was right, and the boot would give/conform... after a few days I contacted Franks with concerns about the right boots shank, feel/fit... the boots never stretched out, my arches were bruised/swollen and felt displaced every time I wore the boots. Needless to say, I was told this is part of the break-in.... I couldn't hardly walk by mid-day. I personally can't afford to purchase or throw away over five-hundred-dollar boots. I am stubborn, but after two years I gave up, purchased new boots the constant pain and anguish... are gone. read more

First off I was born with the worlds widest feet. Seriously! Extra Wide is considered E. My feet are FF! I called to ask did that mean Fat Feet, hahaha! He laughed and said no it's just your width. And no, I don't have hammertoes, bunions, or corns! Normal feet, minus the width part. As a woman, trying to go shoe shopping is an utter nightmare! When it's not an issue for you, you have no idea the pain I've had to endure shopping for & wearing ill fitting footwear. I've been wearing Redwings or Wolverines which offered wide widths (4E or EEEE) for years. But the last 3 yrs they have been waaaay off in fit & quality. After buying three pairs of brand new boots since December where none of them fit correctly, I figured my only option was to find a custom boot maker. Well, easier said than done. Now you think living in New York that would be easy. But the only boot makers I found only made dress boots or fancy schmancy boots not work boots. Thankful for the Internet after doing much research I found several. But all were located in faraway states. After reading & watching several videos, I was somehow drawn to Franks and when I called I got to speak to Frank the owner directly. What a pleasure, he answered all of my questions & advised me to go on the website and download a fit sheet which had to be mailed and not faxed in because size differences would happen. He was very thorough about what needed to be done. I was told to speak with Junior and he would help me along with the process and an interesting process it was. I decided on a 6 inch boot, brown bottoms, black rough out top with pink stitching I ordered them at the end of July and now on November 25 I received the best gift I could've given myself. They came out even better than I had hoped for. If work boots could be beautiful, sexy and perfect these are definitely that! The workmanship, the quality of the leather, it's just unbeatable. I'll admit I was nervous. I mean it was like I was ordering a Rolls Royce sight unseen on an entirely different coast & had to hand over half the money! But Junior assured me it would be great. Don't worry, this is what we do. My only complaint is being so far away I would've liked more contact on the progress. Maybe some pictures as the process was in full swing. But I'm completely happy with the end product. I should've done this years ago! I figured if other chicks can spend crazy money on a pair of pumps with a red bottom, I can treat myself to a pair of comfortable boots that make my work days easier. Not so fast! Franks has a good reputation BUT, be careful of your expectations! Frank is a nice guy, but IMHO has allowed his business to grow too fast I ordered a custom pair of Packer boots, waited 21 weeks and was told 3 times they were being shipped. Paid the deposit initially, then the remaining amount when asked 21 weeks later. Then notified they made a mistake with the boots and they weren't being shipped! Ask me what I wanted to do. No offer from them so I said refund my money, I've already waited 12 weeks longer than initially told it would take. Took over 3 weeks to get my refund! Had to email Frank directly to get it! $600 + boots, 23 weeks later paid CC interest (my fault) and I have nothing! Like I said, be careful of your expectations. Called and spoke to Frank about sizing because, well, I wanted to buy something off the shelf because I'm impatient. Frank named off the size I need based on what I'd been wearing and what arrived is perfect. There were a couple of shipping hiccups, partially caused by me changing my order to include a t-shirt and partially because what they listed on the website in the "ready to ship" section was listed incorrectly and they wanted to call to ask me if it was okay before they shipped. Calling me never happened for whatever reason. I think it's one of those deals that happens with smaller Mom and Pop outfits when the kids work there too. This isn't to say that the kids aren't doing the job, not at all, it's just saying it's a smaller company with a large workload and shared responsibilities for the same task. This isn't a major corporation with its own shipping staff. As I understand it, one sibling handles the UPS packages and the other handles the USPS packages depending on location. My location required USPS and because I added it to the order it made some confusion. This is proven because they shipped me a t-shirt in the boot box (as I requested) and about a month later, another t-shirt showed up! Free stuff! lol. (TBH when I send this next pair in for a rebuild, I'll send the shirt back if they want.) In my dealings with them on the phone, I think I spoke to nearly every family member at one point or another and they were all incredibly nice and seemed to be trying hard to please me. The boots themselves, a Highlander model are fantastic. They're quite comfortable, the break-in wasn't terrible, and I've beat the living daylights out of them shoveling through ice and snow with a spade-type shovel and working as a Diesel mechanic in the shop and they don't look phased at all. I've done the same with USA-made Danner Quarries and within 2 weeks they looked bad. Really bad. I've had these Highlanders for going on three months now and they really barely look worn. Overall the experience has been a very good one. I don't understand the other reviews that are 1 star. I tend to think some people if everything isn't absolutely perfect and handed to them on a platter, they'll overreact in their review and tank a good company's reviews out of entitlement. I mean, their bread and butter are work boots made the same way they've been made for a hundred years and people with work boots care if they last, not if the colors match perfectly after you've oiled the bejeesus out of them. And also, they say upfront there is a variable waiting time from the time you order to the time you receive your boots. If you can't handle that, go buy your boots at some box store and then buy boots again in six months because they won't last. Dont get me wrong, if they mess up your boot order, they should be the ones paying the shipping in my opinion. If nothing else then as a financial incentive to not mess up the next order, but If you wear them outside, oil the bejeesus out of them, and then two months later have an issue with coloring, yeah bro, that's on you. I started out with my brother going to Nics, JKs, and Frank boots. Our goal was to find the best quality boot, with the best customer service. We went to Franks first, and at the end of the day, that's where we ended up. The quality of customer service,being fitted by pros, plus the quality of the boot was superior to both the other places! My husband bought a pair of handmade boots at this place. $550. They were too big, the composite toe bent at the end of his toes. He brought them back to be fixed they had them for three more months, and didn't do a single thing to them. He then took them to White's boots where he should've gone in the first place and had them rebuilt for $330. Whites boots did an excellent job. I don't recommend getting the Ground and Pound boots. Definitely ruined my custom boot order experience. On my fit sheet I told them I needed something for my high arc. They forgot to add it to my boot. I called and talk to Frank about my foot pain and what they forgot to add. He said there was nothing he can do. He said send the boot back and they will add what they forgot to do. I would have to pay for shipping for their mistake. My heels been in pain ever since I started wearing these boots. It's not fitting right. I spent nearly $500 and he wants me to spend more to send them back. Maybe his other boots might be better. I just had a bad experience. Never again. Franks boots are top of the line. The original handmade boot in Spokane far superior to any conpetitors in the area. I have personally worked at the USAF sere school, as a hotshot and advid outdoorsman.
