Very concerned. We have gone here for many years but something is wrong. Wish I had checked recent reviews before going there again. I had our kid bring a bunch of tailoring items home from NY at Thanksgiving so they could get it done by time they returned at Christmas. Partially paid for it. Wasn't ready when promised two weeks ago, and now store has been closed every time the sign on door says they are supposed to be open. Our kid leaves again tomorrow without their needed work clothes. No one answers phone, no way to contact owner, don't know what to do. So much for that Christmas present . . . read more

I think this place is closed. I called 5x and stopped by 3x within a Two week period. Everything was dark, locked up, no lights on, closed sign with business hours listed. It's odd because everyone's clothes are inside hanging, laying across counter, total disarray but no one is there. I hope nothing happened to the business owner. read more

I had a dress custom-made for me. When it arrived, I was sad to find it was too big. I took it to Bang to be altered. The dress is a full length, fully lined chiffon piece. Altering it was a big job as it needed to be taken in on the sides and in the shoulders. I am so impressed with the quality of his work. I can't even tell it's been altered except it now fits beautifully. It was worth every penny. Bang is extremely busy with several separate locations. I would recommend giving him the time he needs to complete the job. If you're willing to be patient and work with him, you will find his workmanship, exceptional. read more

Stop! Go someplace else. Closes up for about weeks with no note on the front door, or message on the phone. Now says open on only Friday and Saturday. As a customer of South Hill Alterations for at least 15 years, this is a SAD FINISH to what was a good local business. Lately he will tell you when he would have it done and MISSED that date most always. Shop looks sloppy with clothes all over the place. Also has you PAY in ADVANCE. read more

SO UNPROFESSIONAL. Clothes are never (and I do mean never) ready when he tells you they will be. He asks you to pay in advance. And then you are forced to come back 3-7 times and clothes are STILL NOT READY. It's literally been months since I dropped off. I did some more research and found out he has a terrible reputation. People of had to make last-minute arrangements for special ceremonies because he just can't get the work done. Cannot recommend. Very poor customer service. Wife took in cover, explained what needed to be done, he even drew on the cover where the opening and zipper needed to be installed. Not only did he delay delivery twice after promising to complete, but he failed to leave the 10" opening at the top and then installed the zipper going in the wrong direction. When wife called he started arguing with her that it was her fault, and yet he was the one that kept saying Yes, I understand what you want and he DREW the marks on the cover himself. DON"T TAKE anything special here. At $49 for a screwed-up job, and abusive customer service there has to be better places that understand what you want and can ACTUALLY provide what the customer requested. He refused to refund the amount and said he'd fixed, but why would you have the same idiot that screwed it up in the first place spend 3 more days fixing HIS mistake. Needed to have 2 pairs of pants sewn. The gentleman was not able to meet his promised deadline not only once, but twice. On my third time to pick up the pants, he had still not done the work, and was very rude to me when I expressed my disappointment. I'll never use this place again. read more

I bought a pair of baseball pants that I needed hemmed, and I needed them done on the spot. I telephoned South Hill and the gentleman told me he'd get them done for me. He did the very fast and the quality of the job was good too. I think he only charged me $10. This will be the Place for my alterations needs. Great job South Hill. read more

Spokane needs to step up its yelp game. This is by far the best tailor/alterations guy in a 250 mile radius. Incredible. Very quick. Professional, and does it all by himself. No outsourcing here. Awful customer service and response and does not care, dropped off my gowns and he said they'd be ready in two weeks, came back after two weeks and he didn't even know what belonged to me. Gave him another week and when I went in, he hadn't even started working on my gowns, didn't say anything. Every question I asked, he responded with I am very busy or completely ignored to go ahead and have more workload from other clients. read more

My kid who hates jeans has to wear a pair for a school concert. I don't know why clothing companies put a 31 inch inseam on size 0 jeans meant for a pre teen. A hem in stretchy jeans was $14. I dropped them off Saturday and got them back Tuesday. It's nice that he is open on a weekend day. I can hem but I hate it, especially stretchy stuff. would have taken me an hour and a lot of stress to do it myself. We will be back. read more

Went there to get a simple dress altered. I needed it a couple days in advance and brought it in accordingly. Was promised that he could do it in that time. We came on time as scheduled and it wasn't even touched yet. He promised that he could finish the job in an hour but I needed it done by then. It can be difficult to find a good tailor in your neighborhood so I'm glad I found this one. The price is fair and the work is high quality.

I brought my shirt in several days before I needed it. I arrived in the afternoon on the day he said it would be done and unfortunately my shirt wasn't finished yet. He assured me that it would be ready within a couple hours. Sure enough about an hour and a half later I received a phone call that my shirt was done. When I went to pick it up he knocked about 15% off for me having come in when it wasn't finished. The shirt I brought in was a regular men's dress shirt to be tailored for an athletic fit and he did an amazing job! Despite leaving empty handed the first time I arrived, this was an excellent experience. I couldn't be more pleased with the craftsmanship of the alteration. He charged me a fair price for the outstanding level of tailoring he did for me. I most certainly will be going back with more clothes. read more

Recently moved to this area of the city and had no idea who to use for a tailor. When I googled Tailor/Alterations this business popped up just down the block from me. My first experience with this company was for my work slacks getting altered. It took just a couple days and was very competitive at $15. They were willing to rush my pants thru sooner if I wanted but I wasn't in a rush. Very well done job. My second experience was when I had my pant zipper separate off. I walked in without an appointment. He took my pants, put his current order to the side and repaired my pants in less then 3 minutes so I could go to work. Amazing service, very timely and affordable. They are straight and to the point and do great work. I will be back and encourage locals to support their work. read more

I had a minor hem repair on my suit and the gentleman dropped what he was doing to quickly address my issue. A quick turn on the sewing machine and I was out of there in less than 5 minutes for $5. Highly recommend this business! read more

I should have know this MF was on some BS when he couldnt quote me a price when i dropped my suit off. All he was supposed to do was take the jacket in a few inches...pleat my pants and adjust my sleaves. Ticket said pickup a week later at 2...i got there a week later at 4 pm and he wasnt finished. Strike freakin 1. Told me come back in 30 min...Strike 2...Get there 30 minutes later..he rings me up...93 fugging dollars GD Strike 3. This guy is a ripoff. He wont quote his price because he knows youll walk out. He waits until you come pick up your stuff then drops the hammer. I started to tell him where he could stick my 93 dollars and then beat the crook out of him...decided the pen is mightier than a jail sentence so here i am..If you take anything here your a fool and you deserve to get ripped off. I dropped off a motorcycle jacket for my boss on the 22nd of June. Only thing that needed replaced was the Velcro on the sleeves. The person working made a slip promised by the 29th of June. I came a couple days after to pick it up (July 3rd), and the jacket was not ready. I was slightly annoyed as he had a couple days after to make sure it was done but said I'd come back in 2 days to pick it up. I was unable to pick it up that Thursday so I came today to get it, and when I walked in, it still was not ready. I also brought more clothes to be fixed in today, but because he can't fix two strips of Velcro, I will be taking the business elsewhere. Completely unprofessional. This place is great. I've never taken anything to an alterations place before, but I am so glad I did. I had a beautiful dress that had excess fabric on the darts of the bust, making the seams look weird and pointy. The guy here took a look at how it currently fit, and said he could take care of it and I could pick it up in a week. I came back and was eager to try it on. It fits me perfectly now! I really like this guy. I used to get my garments altered at Nordstrom, but only go to him now. Always professional, always honest. The last time I went, he advised me to get a different sized pair of pants, because it would be less expensive for me. He lost money and told the truth. (I thought I was a size smaller than I was.) This is in response to Rob A. who had a bad experience with this business. First of all, I am sorry that your clothes weren't altered on time. I can't speak to that, but having worked at a men's clothing store during college and being the daughter of a tailor, I can say that the price he charged for the work he'd done was more than fair. Those types of alterations take more time than one would think, especially if the suit had a lining. I have had work done by him and was very pleased with the quality. read more

This was a very disappointing experience. I was given a fair quote for working on four throw pillows and given a pick up date the following week. When I came to get them, (a few days after the scheduled date) I saw them, unfinished on a shelf. The owner was unapologetic and told me he had forgotten and also was too busy, but they would be ready in a few days and they were. As I walked in to get them, I heard him telling another customer that his alteration wasn't ready because he had forgotten about that order. My pillows were now ready and adequately repaired, although not stellar. He was again unapologetic, told me how long they took and that he wanted me to pay MORE for the work! I refused and suggested that I should be the one receiving a discount. He scoffed, and I told him I could not give him positive referrals, to which he sneered and said he didn't care as he had plenty of business. The lack of customer service was remarkable and I strongly urge people to look elsewhere. read more
