Olga is the best! She did amazing work on my daughters wedding dress when we had limited time before the wedding. The dress needed several inches taken in, a hem and bustle- you can not even tell it was altered. Olga did beautiful and quick work. I would give *AlterationsbyDesign* zero stars if I could. While she did do good work on my wedding dress, the overall experience was a nightmare. She overcharged me for her services and completely ignored my messages when I voiced concerns about timing. As we got closer to the wedding, I became increasingly stressed, especially since we had agreed on a deadline, but she continued to cut it way too close. When I reached out with valid concerns a month before my wedding, she ignored my calls and texts, claiming she was "offended" by my stress. On top of that, she randomly gave me a discount I didn't even know about, then acted like I should be *grateful* and *kind* about it. The whole experience was incredibly frustrating and emotional. She said she was prioritizing my dress, yet it took her THREE months just to cut off lace sleeves. I would not recommend this business to anyone who is looking for a stress free professional business. read more

I needed to release the hem on a pair of white slacks. I waited till the last minute and my flight was leaving next morning. I understandably paid extra service fee due to needing a fast turn around and it was absolutely worth it! In addition they were honest when looking at my pants and notifying me there may be a stain around the hem fold when releasing it. I just used a tide pen. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!!!! She charges over DOUBLE what she should. She RUINED my wedding dress, took 6 weeks to do it, and was HORRIBLE every single interaction. She RUINED my dress by doing the hips too tight, the straps not tight enough, the bustle was to the right and the slagged from cheap hook she sewed on. She removed the cups and did not replace them with correct sizes. She sewed without my permission a WHITE liner into my IVORY DRESS and said the material I supplied FROM THE DESIGNER was "crap". When I spoke with her she said "I don't know what you want me to do, I've done my work." She is a SCAM ARTIST. SCAM. ARTIST. She charged me $1,081 dollars to ruin my $3k wedding dress, I had to call and call to even come get it and finally got it the week of my wedding. When I emergency took it directly from her to an actual alterations place with an actual seamstress, she gasped multiple times at what Alterations By Design had done to my dress. "What was she thinking? She shouldn't have even touched your dress." Amazing Alterations fixed my dress in 24 for LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT THIS LADY CHARGED ME TO RUIN MY DRESS. STAY AWAY!!!!! I have never had anything altered before, but now she is my go to for anything that needs fixing. I brought in a Tommy Bahama shirt that the embroidered decal was coming off and she fixed it beautifully. She even put a new piece of silk so it is much softer on my husband skin. I even had her help me with some support in a couple of swimsuits, she thought outside the box and with a couple of inserts I was on my way. She is very prompt and nice! read more

I am not one to usually write reviews but I had such a horrible experience with this alterations place that I don't want anyone else to be in the scenario I am in. I took my dress to her in March to have a bustle put on it and that was all I needed done...I finally received my dress back 4 months later in July. I was quoted $375 for my original bustle and then when I was rung up she told me the total was now $575 because she needed to add two more bustles without consulting me or contacting me before she went ahead and added them. I just come to find out when steaming my dress that the dress CAME with a bustle already so it didn't need a bustle in the first place which she obviously failed to mention as well...long story long DO NOT take your dress here. She is very dishonest, overcharges for her services, and take WAY too long to do a task that is done by other seamstress' in a matter of a week or two. read more

RELIABLE & HONEST! I phoned this business very early and received a message to call another number,so I did. Galina returned my call promptly so I continued to explain that I was visiting from out of town and had a minor emergency with a pair of pants that a latch had broken. Galina suggested I bring them in for inspection as she could determine the course of action. I arrived at the shop which was a few doors down from the basin robins; the store front was easy to find. Galina greeted me with a smile and said she could have the repair made by 4pm the same day. I was very satisfied with the quality of work and her willingness to help. I paid around $15 for same day expedited service which I felt was fair. I highly recommend her for any future needs. read more

I recently decided to create some performance shirts for a progressive rock band rockin' an European Tour this summer. The owner and seamstress (one and the same) did a fantastic job! From 1 - 10, 1 being my worst alteration/sewing experiences, 10 being my best (and I have had many). :) Stitching - 9 - Nearly flawless lines, excellent stitches. Looks like this shirt will pass the test of time! Design - 10 - The seamstress was able to sketch and create almost exactly what I had imagined. Excellent listener and vision! Intricacies - 10 - The little things really make this shirt amazing - she asked for approval before adding the intricacies. In particular, the seems are so cool (she added a red lining to the seems, I don't know how to call it, but it is stunning)! Flexibility - 10 - Open to on-the-go improvisations and ideas from me (which would be a pain in my opinion). Punctuality - 10 - This was a huge project. We started from scratch. From the brain to paper, then to reality, the seamstress, her daughter, and I met regularly to discuss the details. Any issues were brought to my attention immediately. This was an excellent business relationship, and the results, oh yeah! I had asked that the project be finished before June 1, and it's already in my closet! Price - 9.5 - As this was a project conjured from thin air, I understand the cost completely. It surely was not too expensive. In fact, I had expected it to cost more, a lot more! And when I saw the results that only confirmed my original thought. That being said, this project was well worth it!. The seamstress has kept my foundation and will be able to replicate the design as I like and for much cheaper (as a lot of the work is already complete). All in all, well worth the bucks if you're looking for a truly original piece of art. I imagine alterations and repairs are just as, or even more affordable. I know I'll be visiting them again! That adds up to an "A+" in my book! read more

Loving the look of linen, I began searching online for a linen bed set after redoing my bedroom. But after a case of sticker shock, I thought I'd have to rethink my choice. That was until a friend of mine told me about this fantastic business she's used in the past for her sewing needs. To make a long story short, I have the most incredible bedding I have ever owned, and, at a fraction of what I priced elsewhere. The workmanship was flawless and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The only downside? I don't want to get out of bed in the morning. Ha, ha!
