I went to Nina last summer to get my dress done after being referred by honest in ivory. The only time I spoke with her was when I was paying, the rest of the time I only worked with her assistant. I described what I wanted, which were some very minor changes (shortening the straps, hem, and bustle). The result was not what I wanted as it made the dress lay weirdly on my bust, which I had indicated as a concern prior to the work being done. She charged me more money to then fix the mistake, making the alterations cost way more than I had budgeted for. When I had the final try on my dress it was very unflattering in the places I had expressed concern about but it was too close to my wedding day to fix it. I went home in frustrated tears. That is not how you should feel when your wedding dress (that you spent a lot of money on) is completed. I'm sure she is great at custom gowns, but she seems to have little interest in minor alterations. My friend, who was also my maid of honor, went there even after I told her this and had a very similar experience. read more

I purchased my wedding dress from Honest in Ivory and was quite excited to work with Nina, as the gals at the shop let me know that they "exclusively" recommend her and her "fabulous" work. I wasn't going to leave a review about my contact experience with Nina until I read Mar. S's review, because I too had a similar, frustrating experience. I made initial contact with Nina in early July via phone. Nina was very abrupt when I tried explaining to her what I was looking to have done to my dress and just responded with "Ok, just email me". She didn't seem very interested, but I did as she requested - I emailed that same day. I didn't get a response for two or three days and it was a one line response. I didn't hear back from her for a few days, so I emailed her again, requesting to make an appointment. No response. I have emailed her three times since her one liner and still no response. Frustrated, as my wedding date has been moved up to early 2020, I have gone to someone else. I understand that she may be swamped, and I am sure she is great at what she does, but she could have said she was too busy this Summer and recommended someone else. I get that you can be busy, but it isn't very professional to string your clients on and then just ghost them. If you are looking to book an appointment in a TIMELY fashion, maybe try someone else. I reached out to another alterations shop (that I have heard great things about) and now have an appointment set up with them (FYI called and made an appointment same day). No bad blood here, just trying to give my fellow brides a heads up. read more

Was so excited to support this lady I'd heard so many great things about- Tried multiple times to make an appointment or even discuss availability to simply hem a wedding dress for an event that was 3+ months away. I understand the nature of her job and that she also does custom gowns but I got no reply from website appointment function- emailed and did not hear back for a week. Follow up just said "do you still want to make an appointment?" Originally contacted through website on June 10th and finally was told July 4th that she was "slammed." Would not recommend this company if you have something minor needed. Add: would recommend responding more quickly to requests- June 10th to July 4th seems a little excessive to finally say you are too busy when June 24th you were asking if I still wanted to make an appointment and never responded when I again said yes I would like to make an appointment. read more

My review is a little late, as I got married in 2019. Nina was incredible to work with. She provided me with excellent alterations for my gown. She also helped me with measurements on how to create a beaded back piece for my gown at no cost. I very much appreciate her professionalism and dedication to brides! This review is a long time overdue, but I got married last summer and Nina worked absolutely magic on my dress! I fell in love with this dress that was way too low cut and revealing, but the ladies at Honest in Ivory assured me that they had someone who could make it work for me. They referred me to Nina, and I'm so glad they did! The dress had a unique pattern and fabric that did not make it easy for her to work with while maintaining the look I wanted. We ended up ordering some fabric and she came up with a creative way to add to the dress that I ended up loving more than the original. Then she basically rebuilt the whole top for me and it looked perfect. There is nothing worse than feeling self-conscious that you might flash your friends and family on your wedding day, so I was eternally grateful to Nina for helping me turn my dress from basically unwearable to just what I imagined! Nina is one sophisticated, well dressed, professional and quite the personal inspiration... She was at a bridal festival I was a part of and literally had this robe that j just had to have. I made an appointment pretty much as soon as I got my dress. Didn't hear back for a little bit, but we are in busy wedding season. However, when I finally did get through and showed up for the appointment, they had no record of me in the system! They didn't even see me and had to reschedule (which was frustrating as I had my mom with me and secured a coveted Saturday appointment). I got an email from Nina to schedule for the new day, but then she sent me a confirmation request from the old appointment with a wrong time too. Read the other reviews, and if you aren't getting a dress made by her, you are NOT her priority. Unprofessional and would not recommend. Decided to cancel the new appointment and take my business somewhere else. read more
