Their catfish is very good but be prepared to wait quite a long time for seating. The staff is busy but pleasant. Will be going back!

I scheduled our company's Christmas dinner here. We waited until the last minute and everything else was booked - turned out I chose the perfect spot! We had a party of 30 (including kids) an they put us in a private banquet room. We all ordered from the menu and did not have 1 complaint about the food or service. We like to eat at local people restaurants. Tonight was our first time to JJ's for the Thursday night sirloin steak special. It is an 8 oz steak with 2 sides for $10.99. It was cooked exactly as I wanted it - medium. Baked potato cooked so you can eat the skins if you like, oiled and lightly salted. The side salad is a bit small but had slices of tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded cheese and croutons on the fresh lettuce. The bun - OMG it was delicious. The popcorn they give you when you first sit down is just-popped and really good. Like many mom and pop places, it could use a bit of work. A few of the booths had torn vinyl. The sports memorabilia was really nice but could use some attention to dust. Nothing terrible, I'm just saying what I saw. The bathroom was small but nice and clean. That says a lot considering how busy they were. The place is a lot bigger inside that it looks. i was surprised. Service was fast and very polite. I have never had a bad meal from JJ's! My favorite is the BBQ Ribs. I am very picky about BBQ, I do not like a dry BBQ, I want mine wet and I want it cooked on the meat and let me tell you, JJ's does it the right way!! The meat on the ribs is fork-tender and so very tasty. There is a very small amount of heat in the BBQ sauce but it is not overwhelming but it is addictive. A half back is plenty for a meal because you get a roll and 2 sides with it but the full rack, just gives you another meal later and so worth it. Let's go back to the rolls. Shut Up! They are so good. They are deep fried and sprinkled with garlic and Parmesan. No butter needed. Seriously, I wish I could get them by the basket. The burgers are amazing too. They are smashed thinner but not too thin, juicy and delicious. A double burger is a hardy burger but so worth it. They serve them with crinkle cut fries and who doesn't love that? I have also had the fish and chips, as well as, the cat fish and they are both amazing. And while we are in the sea, the shrimp dinner is great too. The shrimp are huge! The tuna melt on swirled rye was surprisingly good. I am a tuna salad fan but had no idea that I was going to like it warm... I totally did. I am not much of a rye bread fan but it is a mild rye and added to the melt. For the sides I highly recommend the cole slaw which is nice and creamy, the baked beans, you can't go wrong with a baked potato and of course the fries. They do offer desserts and I have had the cheesecake and it is good, they have other things too but I am always so full I never pay too much attention. read more

This place is good and inexpensive!!! Huge burgers, great portion of fries, and the appetizers were delicious and generous as well. Seriously worth checking out if you're in the area for a casual, sit down meal. Staff was polite and service was quick! I'll be back for sure. read more

I've been going to this place for years. It's a pretty bland dark place but I do like how it's always so quiet. Lol. There's not many people there when I go there. I would suggest the chicken fajitas. Other than that, I just know I've been going here for years. I need to revisit soon. read more

$10.59 Sirloin was very good!! Cooked perfectly at medium rare. The chili verde soup was outstanding with just a touch of heat!

Only can speak for the Fish, Ribs, and chicken and all I can say is amazing fish and ribs. I can eat! and know what good food suppose to taste like. Chicken could use more seasoning but overall still taste good. Service pretty good, somewhat old looking inside but great place. Went here on the suggestion from a friend. The Tamales and Chili were really really good, better than most Mexican restaurants. The ribs were also very good. We will go back just to get the Tamales and Chili. read more

Go there all the time with my family was there on the 19th of March love the food bad review was there was a woman and her daughter in the frount they were there when my family came she smiled at us and her daughter opened the door for us and they were there for a while we could see them from our table not sure of the situation but the manager came out and they talked she got on the phone and it set him off he got in her face yelling chest pumped up (like he may hit this woman) in a threatening manner to this woman with her daughter she must have been there over an hour waiting patiently and smiled at everyone coming in we left shortly after she did and we love the food but won't go back if the owner thinks it is ok to hire men like him to threaten anyone who looked to us to not be doing nothing in the wrong to be treated like that then we don't need to give them our business i feel sorry for that woman and her daughter and if he treated her like that then i really feel sorry for his employees read more

We generally enjoy the food but today, we wanted to try the chicken dinner special and were very disappointed in the meal. The fried chicken was way overcooked and very dry. The corn was plain and tasteless as was the mashed potatoes. This has not been our experience previously as we have had good meals on other nights, especially Friday nights when the catfish special is excellent and very tasty. My family and I go to JJ's usually a couple times a month. Its our go to place when we want good food in a friendly family atmosphere. Service is usually top rate and the staff is friendly. We have NEVER had any bad food at this place. The fajitas are the best in town, better than the Mexican restaurants. Their burgers are made with quality meat and served diner style, I would rate them with any others in town. Get the double, its large and filling. Love the turkey club also. The chili is one of my favorites but could use a little more bite to it. All in all if you are looking for family style, American cuisine comfort food you won't go wrong with JJ's. Took the family there on Sunday for the fried chicken special. First I will say that the food was great. They had daily specials and the prices are very reasonable. The only issue I had was with the service. When we were seated we were told the waitress would be with us shortly. Shortly passed with no waitress. Someone who I guess was the manager came over and took the drink order. The waitress finally showed (we were one of her 2 tables) and took our orders. We did not see her again until the food arrived. No drink refills, etc. She never came back to check on us, ask how the foods was, etc. The next time we saw her was with the bill. I don't even recall if she introduced herself at the beginning. From my vantage point, I could however see here in the center of the restaurant just "hanging out" with some other wait staff. This place does need to get some staff that wants to work. read more
