This restaurant looks really nice and cozy when you first walk through the door, probably because the lights are quite dim. I was very excited to try their chicken as I did see it roasting from one of the side windows. Unfortunately, I am not really a big rotisserie chicken person so the Nuroongji Cheese Corn was just okay for me. The crispy rice on the bottom was quite addicting for me though because I am a texture person. The people was a little softer than I usually like it but it was super cheesy and I didn't mind because I just let it sit out for a little longer for the rice cakes to cook down allowing the texture to become more favorable. My favorite which I did not see coming was the fried oysters. They tasted super fresh and flavorful with the perfect crunch. Just be careful as there are juices flowing within. The service was okay. Everyone was very nice it was just hard to get servers attention at times as we did seem to arrive during the night rush.
We decided to go to JJ Dak on Christmas eve, when they were super busy, but we got a table luckily without much waiting. This was our first visit in couple of years. The place mostly remained the same, similar interior, bar area and even the menu items were also similar. Other than our favorite Nuroongji dak woodfired chicken, we also ordered wings, mac and corn cheese, squid fries and fried oysters. We loved all the dishes and feasted on all of them the night before Christmas. Despite being crazy busy, the food came out in short intervals and the service was decent. We had a wonderful family dinner and were happy to have dined at JJ Dak after such a long break.
Went for late night dinner and although the food was delicious, the service was absolutely horrible. People came in after us had better service...doubt I would return.
Decided to Try JJDaK today. Ambiance is dark with a barn decor. Staff were very nice. We order Whole Chicken Spicy Squid Cheese Pizza Chicken Platter had mixed veggies and potatoes under chicken. (Wish chicken was cut into smaller pieces) Pizza wasn't our favorite. (Pass on ordering) Spicy Squid was delicious. Must order if you like squid. Forget to take photos of our drink. Drinks were on point. We Will definitely return to try other items on the menu.
JJ Dak offers a fire wood flavor korean style food. It ranges from Chicken to Pizza and wings. They have a bar area that is nice, but it's more a place you can wind down with some friends late at night. I had the mango habanero wings, bulgogi pizza and fries. Flavors are good and unique, but I don't know if they justify the price point. Dishes are around 20-35$. I didn't have the alcoholic drinks so I can't say for that. Place is clean and flavors are good. It's just the price that kind of hurts for the quality and quantity of food. Will try again in the future! Bathroom: It's clean though the way there is a bit off to the side and the floor isn't flat. Be careful!
We were looking for a place to eat around 10:30pm. Upon seeing menu on specializing wood footed chicken I had to come and check them out. Upon arrival the place was actually packed but not too full. We were seated in about 5 minutes. Because it was late, we decided to go with the original wood fired chicken with side of fries. It took a while but as soon as the chicken came we chowed it down. Let me say the skin was crispy and the meat including the breast was moist and full of flavor. It came with 3 dipping options, buffalo, salt & pepper & honey mustard. My fav is the honey mustard. The fries came with a garlic aioli. I was so delighted and say this was one of my favorite meals. I am expired to come back and try other things! The ambiance is like bar but with music and way from the bar if there was a tv. Definitely coming back!
Really enjoyed the food here. Got the Okinawan purple sweet potato fries and the Nuroongji map dak. The fries were nice and crispy. The dipping sauce it came with was delicious. The nuroongji map dak was unique and unlike any other chicken dish I've had before. There was a layer of crispy rice on the bottom, but some of it was burnt. The chicken was good, but I feel like it could have been more spicy. Also wish there was more dduk fries. That being said, I did enjoy the dish a lot and ate all the rice that wasn't burnt lol. I would definitely come back to try the other chicken options here!
Always a great time at JJ Dak. Had to give this place some love here. This has been our go to place for some good chicken and beer whenever we got the cravings. We had a weekend early dinner reservation and were seated right as we entered. Service was friendly, accessible, and overall timely. This time we got the chicken, army stew (budaejjigae) and some cold ones. Everything was great and we left stuffed. The ambiance is in line with classic american bars with a sprinkle of korean. Been here a few times and have always enjoyed - definitely recommended!
Jj dak chicken. This is the basic one at about $30-$32. They give you a free dipping sauces which include a spicy sauce and a honest mustard sauce. You should ask them for the ghost pepper sauce. Overall a very good and tender roasted chicken. Super curious about their spicy one but this one was pretty good. Enough for three serving size for me but friends said it was only 2 servings. Opened late and good vibes
Robust flavors in each dish, everything we ordered here was delicious. The squid fries, shrimp garlic pizza and of course their signature roasted chicken with crispy rice was a hit. Their drinks are good and balanced, as I ended up having an old fashioned and split a flight of four beers. Snagged a table upstairs which was good since we had some kids with us. service was on point and there is parking in the back
Similar sentiment as last time but decided to try 2 new dishes and they were both a bit and a miss - Korean fried chicken 4.25/5: def worth trying, super meaty, juicy, maybe a little too saucy, but very tender - kimchi fried rice 3/5: this was quite disappointing as it looks amazing and appealing to the eye. Loved the cheese pull too but it was super bland and lacked kimchi flavors We got the fried pork belly again bc it was super delish last time but the plating was different and not as appealing but still very good! Bonus! And they also have a few parking spots for guests
I was craving beef. Husband wanted chicken. This was our compromise. I ordered the bbq ribeye which came on a sizzling platter with veggies and potatoes. The wings were juicy and not too fried with a nice tangy sauce. We also got the rice cakes which were flavorful and chewy. They have a pretty extensive beer and wine list as well. We came for lunch with a toddler but i imagine this place to be a great place to catch up with friends in the evenings!
I went here for lunch with the family and we ordered the wood fired chicken and cheese pizza for my son. The chicken was fall off the bone delicious. It was sitting on a bed of burnt purple rice and corn on the cobs. The crispy purple rice was a nice touch but it was a little too burnt. The pizza is wood fired, the taste is great but the texture is too doughy for my liking. The interior is nice and there is parking but it was down the block. The service wasn't bad, not overly attentive but enough that we got what we needed. I would definitely return for other chicken options but would not get the pizza again.

We had their signature chicken, the flavor was very good. However, the chicken was a little bit dry for my taste. I expected the breast to a bit more moist. The service was wonderful as well as the ambiance. Our server was very accomodating, and I felt relaxed by how the tables were situated. read more

JJ Dak: Where's the Firewood? Took the family here on a hot summer day, expecting smoky firewood chicken (it's in the name, JJ = firewood, Dak = chicken). Spoiler: if there was smoke, it ghosted us. The "woodfired chicken" had zero firewood aroma. Maybe it's woodfired spiritually? Fried chicken? Just... fried chicken. Nothing to write home (or on Google) about. Steak came on a sizzling stone--10/10 for drama, and yes, it stayed hot enough to threaten third-degree burns. Wings were solid--soy garlic and Korean marinated flavors actually hit the spot. Fried oysters? Hot, juicy, no complaints. Honestly, the wings and oysters are the real reason to come. This place is mostly about the drinks, with bars on both floors ready to assist your fried chicken therapy session. Tip: I posted a parking map across the street so you can park easily and arrive before your chicken goes cold (or even colder than the woodfire vibes). Bottom line: Come for wings + beer. Expect "firewood chicken" to taste like regular chicken. Stay for the sizzle show and casual hang. Leave your firewood dreams at home. read more

A great Korean fusion bar in the neighborhood that's passionate about good food! I had a buddy over from Michigan who did not mind the snow, so with wife, we went to eat through snow BLIZZARD to JJ Dak Sunday evening as they were open. Inside was chic and cozy as I expected, and we were led to a rather smallish dining room on the side of first floor. Center area was for the bar. I've wanted to try JJ Dak for a while now, so we ordered up w/ pleasant server who explained the menu for us. I. ATMOSPHERE (4/5) - Great vibe! Dimly lit with thoughtful biergarten style decorations galore, it felt warm, cozy yet stylish. Good for dates & drinks with buddies. II. FOOD (4/5) Squid Fries ($14, APP, 5/5) - Hands down the best food of the visit. Fresh squid w/ full flavor in light seasoned batter with mouthwatering ponzu mayo dip. Say whaaat? Wonderful with beer. We wanted to order one more if not for entree coming! Fried Oysters ($??, APP, 3/5) - It was a special item, but unfortunately this was nothing special. Shouldn't have ordered, as it was prob to get rid of fresh oysters getting old (not on the menu). It wasn't like not fresh or anything but taste was just okay. Nuroongji Dak ($45, ENTREE, 4/5) - This famous dish didn't disappoint! They lit it on fire for a show & added flame taste, and the dish was sizzling hot. Flavor was pretty good, though some parts of chicken wasn't seasoned through. But they give you 3 dipping sauces (honey mustard was my favorite!) for that so that's OK. This dish really felt like a treasure hunt for the 3 of us as we kept poking around and finding different ingredients. I wished that there was still a unifying sauce of some kind as meat felt a bit dry at times and variety of ingredients kinda floating on their own a bit. Maybe a splash of soya-butter? Nonetheless, this was really enjoyable to eat - we loved the cauliflower and the burnt rice (which we diligently scraped off the pan) on the bottom. III. SERVICE (5/5) - Very attentive, on a Sunday evening blizzard night! Later they did get busy (it's like we brought the town here cuz adventurous and half-crazy people kept showing up in pairs through the blizzard to eat in. Was a bit funny) I'm a fan of this place - especially for a drink w/ buddies I can't think of a more deserving place to go to in town atm than JJ Dak! I'll be back to try many other interesting menu items in the near future! read more
JJ Dak never disappoints! I ordered takeout and got the margarita pizza, squid ink fries, and chicken wings -- and everything hit the spot. The margarita pizza had a nice balance of cheese and sauce. The basil was a little burnt this time, but honestly, it still tasted great and is one of those pies that just always satisfies. The real stars for me are the squid ink fries and chicken wings. The fries are crispy, savory, and totally unique -- a must-order every time. Pair them with the wings (perfectly fried and flavorful), and you've got the ultimate combo. Whether you're dining in or taking out, JJ Dak is a solid go-to for bold flavors and comfort eats. Highly recommend! read more
4.5 stars Nice staff, Great food, good portions and very fair pricing. Known for their woodfired chicken mainly and a biergarten/pocha style menu and setup. The woodfired chicken is very tender and optionally served over a bed of "paella" with purple rice, corn, potatoes, roasted garlic, cauliflower, etc. Can't go wrong with this dish or any variation of it on the menu imo. They do "light it on fire" when they serve it and I think it doesn't add anything to flavor or texture - just for show. Looks cool- though personally, I'd recommend not to do it (if optional) since the alcohol sprayed to make the dish momentarily flammable leaves a distinct liquor flavor on the ingredients that doesn't get cooked out. Other items on menu like fried chicken, pizza and fries were also good read more
Korean restaurant @ Fort Lee, NJ, we ordered happy hour six pieces of fried chicken with sweet & spicy sauce and fried purple sweet potatoes. They were both tasty with sapporo premium draft beer. The Woodford chicken with marinated scallions were crispy outside and moist inside. The radish and cucumber pickles went well with the chicken Toppoki was very spicy and sweet. Margherita pizza was ok, yuzu pork belly rice needed little more sauce and arugula. The Korean miso soup which came with the pork belly was too salty. The service was attentive and our waitress was helpful when asked about the items on the menu. read more

Came here after visiting Bear Mountain, was only place we could get a table on a Saturday night...They specialize in roast chicken, which we got....Honestly i am not so big into roast chicken but thats what they specialize in so we got it, its pretty good with the dipping sauces...Also got the fried oysters and the squid fries which i recommend and was a huge portion fot $14! read more
This was my second time visiting the restaurant and I always enjoy the environment and the food. The first time I went, I had the roasted chicken with corn and cheese which was yummy but some parts of the chicken felt a little dry. This time, I got the yangnyum fried chicken which is a sweet and spicy flavor. It looked very saucy at first but I was surprised by how delicious and not too salty it actually was! The crunch of the fried batter was also great given that it was doused in sauce. It was delicious but the portions felt small for how costly the dish is. The Ddukboki (spicy rice cakes) were also perfectly spicy which lots of fish cakes, cabbage, and cheese. Unfortunately, the Ddukboki was too soupy in my opinion. We also had the budaejjigae / army stew which also had a wide variety of ingredients and was made well but the soup was too salty. Although the food had some disappointments, the service and the ambiance were 10/10. The servers were attentive and friendly. The music selection is great and not too loud so we were able to just enjoy our meal and chat without any disruptions. I'd go back to try the pork belly next time and get more fried chicken! read more
Great fusion with Korean and Bar-vibes. They have Happy Hour M-F 'till 6pm. Many draft beer selection to choose from, as well as amazing squid fries and wings. Korean-styled food so they have a few side pickled dishes. I highly recommend their Pork Belly dish. It a good sharing dish. read more
I'm not sure what happened with this place. I came here a year and a half ago and thought most of the items we ordered were okay, however this time was a total disappointment. The food was bland, boring, and the soy garlic wings were horrible! We came here during happy hour and ordered two orders of the wings with soy garlic flavor from the happy hour menu. The wings were absolutely horrible. Honestly if you are going to be calling yourself a chicken place, you have to make the wings right. They were not crispy at all, tasted old, and had absolutely no garlic taste and was just sweet. Very disappointing. We also ordered the spicy rice cake with cheese, bulgogi, and the scallion rotisserie chicken. And honestly everything was below average. I'm not sure if the kitchen were just having a bad day, or due to we being the first customer in the early evening that they were serving old food, but the food was bad enough that I do not think I'll ever come back again. Oh, way overpriced too for the portion and the food. Nothing wrong with the service here, and the place is clean and cute. Will not return read more

My wife and I wanted to try Korean food and JJ Dak looked like the best option for us as it was easy to reach after our day out and had a simple menu we could understand. We had their specialty BBQ Chicken (photo) and it was delicious, my wife said it was the best she'd ever had plus we loved the flambé! We also had Kimchi With Egg (photo) on a beautiful platter. Our waitress was great, explaining all the menu items to us and answering all of our questions. She made the experience easy and fun! read more

Great vibes to eat and drink with friends; there's an upstairs seating area so it feels super spacious and open. We got the corn cheese nurungji chicken and OMG so tasty!! Their portions are super generous and I love that the nurungji had roasted garlic and ginkgo. They light it on fire before you eat so the cheese gets nice and toasty on top. We also got the cabbage salad which was their take on a wedge salad but with yuzu sauce. Had a little too much sauce for my liking but overall tasty! Service was attentive and super prompt. Definitely will come again for dinner! read more
My friend and I ordered the Mad Garlic Fried Chicken and really liked it. The tender rotisserie chicken was deep fried with a great soy-garlic sauce that I just wanted to wipe clean. There were also delicious pieces of crispy fried rice cakes mixed in that were coated with the same sauce. We also ordered the Snow Garlic Shrimp Pizza and that was interesting. The pineapple added a nice sweet flavor. The cream sauce is different than traditional Italian cream sauces. It was like an Asian-fusion pizza. In fact, most of their pizzas are Asian-fusion in style. I have never been to a Korean chicken and pizza joint before, so this was a great experience. read more
Made the trek from Manhattan all the way to Fort Lee to try this place and it did not disappoint in the slightest. We got the cheesy chicken dish and the pork belly and both were delicious. The chicken was so juicy and tender and unlike a lot of other similar dishes the cheesiness never dried up - it remained moist throughout the entire meal. The pork belly was delicately sliced and you could tell they put a lot of effort into making the food not only taste good but look good. Service was fantastic and ambiance was unbeatable as they the restaurant was spread out over 2 floors. read more

After seeing photos of this spot, I knew I wanted to try it! The restaurant itself was pretty large, so there was plenty of seating. It was a bit loud, but that's okay. We were greeted promptly and were able to get our order in quickly. We knew we wanted the wood fired chicken as this is what the restaurant was known for, so we went with that and the cheese corn topping. While the aesthetic of it was nice, the cheese was a bit too much. I love cheese, but this was a bit overwhelming. It was at a point where I didn't know if I was eating rice or cheese because of how much there was, but this is a personal preference. If I were to return, it'd definitely be just the standard Nuroongji Dak. We also ordered the white cabbage salad, and the flavor was interesting, but not in a way that I enjoyed. When you look at it, it looks like it'd taste like kimchi, but it was sweet and the dressings and all the other toppings just didn't really make sense to me. I give the salad a 2/5, it just wasn't it for me. Overall, I give it a 3/5. I don't anticipate returning soon, but if I do, I'll definitely be ordering something different. read more

We came here with a group including kids, and they gave us a small private space -- it was perfect! At first, I hesitated a bit because I thought it might feel more like a bar, but it turned out to be a great place for families too. The atmosphere was warm, the service was excellent, and the food was amazing. The nurungji cheese corn chicken was absolutely the best, and both the kimchi fried rice and the fried chicken were delicious. I especially loved the pickled cucumber and radish -- they seemed homemade and were so good! We'll definitely come back next time we're in the area! read more

Great spot, great vibes, and most importantly; great food! I had been meaning to try JJ Dak for a long time as I have heard many good things about it, and I finally got to try it out with some friends. We ordered some truffle fries, which tasted delicious and we also got wings (Korean Yang-Nyum)! The wings were perfect and I recommend you try them. Then to share, we also got the Nuroongji Dak which was good enough for 4 of us! The chicken was a 10/10 and so was the paella that came with it. I will be returning here for sure! read more
