So, yes, that is still the truth about AYCE ... We started out with the beef thin brisket ... thin !!! Easy to satisfy your appetite and want to devour !!!! Tried many side dishes - steamed egg, steamed dumplings, grilled vegetables, and japchae. Side dishes were good !!! Then, thin sliced pork belly - very dry. What We Ordered - The menu covers all the classic Korean BBQ staples you'd expect, along with some less traditional options like intestines and both spicy and non spicy chorizo, which made the experience more interesting. What really sets this place apart is their use of traditional cast iron pots instead of grills, which was a big deciding factor for us and gave the food a more authentic feel. A quick tip: ask for smaller portions when ordering. The servings are very generous. We switched to smaller portions after our first round so we could try more of the menu, especially since we don't visit the area often. Standout dishes for us were the Beef bulgogi, Beef brisket, Berkshire steak, Pork jowl, and the Braised crab meat soup. Everything was flavorful and well prepared, and these are definitely must order items in our opinion. Final Thoughts - For the price, this was a fantastic dining experience. We stopped by Cast Iron Pot on our way back from a weekend trip to PA and were starving! I'd heard about their Flushing location but didn't realize they had one in New Jersey, so we decided to give it a try. The service was awesome--super friendly and on top of everything. They've got a great selection for the all-you-can-eat menu, and the price ($42.95 per person) felt fair for what you get. We ordered the beef brisket, pork belly, butter squid, and LA galbi. The brisket and LA galbi were hands-down our favorites--so good! The only downside was that they don't serve banchan, which I usually look forward to at Korean BBQ spots. Visited this restaurant yesterday afternoon. It's a corner location with valet parking. We waited like 5-10 minutes to be seated. Not bad. Once you're seated, you are instructed to scan the barcode for the menu. It worked for me. But for my companion not as happy since she still prefers the menu. Weekends are all day dinner, it's approximately $42+ tax per person. You're allowed to pick three meats and three side dishes per order. Food arrived quick and staff practically does the cooking. Food tastes fresh and delicious. There was a side dishes of cabbage slaw, kimchi and the traditional sauces. I also ordered the soju lychee which was kind of strong for me. Food here is on par, I believe this is the first location of this restaurant chain. I've been to the other locations in NYC and they are equally as great. This place has parking! Wait times can be a bit long if you come during peak hours but other than that, food is always great. Staff is accommodating and they have Kpop music on like every tv. I don't know why I chose this place to have celebratory dinner for kids graduation. For the first time in USA in my entire life I felt racism. The person handling our table stable made it a point to talk to just the white guy on the table.. You get food on the table for group of 5 members the food takes 5 mins to cook but 30 seconds to finish and then you keep waiting cause the hey don't serve you until you finish it which took just 30 seconds and the wait goes on for the next meat they waste a-lot of time and also set a limit of 2hours for all you can eat buffet. If I have wait at least serve enough for a larger group so it does not feel like a starter. The food was good but I did not like the service, treatment and attitude. Now for a AYCE establishment, for the money i thought it was great. We made it right in time before kitchen last call 20 min later. The place reminded me of an American BBQ style restaurant with long tables and metal chairs. It was roomy and plenty of space for your meats. The boss lady of the establishment would come and recommend that you order 3 proteins at a time and see if you can finish before ordering more (i think there's a charge for wasted food but i don't remember for sure) We got the thin sliced beef (which turned out to be hot pot beef) that cooked real fast so keep and eye out on your beef pile. I enjoyed spicy pork the most and the pork belly cuts were a no frills natural taste. Just the right amount of fat haha For two people, 4 dishes of meat, a rice sides, a glutinous rice flour desert, and two ice cream fruit bars later we were stuffed and needed to take 15 min before driving. This restaurant was reminiscent of ayce kbbq places we used to go to in college in LA when we just wanted a big dinner with a large group of friends for $$ that won't break the bank. Definitely more quantity over quality The menu is on a QR code, which has a pretty big list, but no premium cuts like kalbi. They also offer apps/sides like dumplings, rice cakes, steamed egg, japchae included in the price. Our first round of meats were pretty good, but be warned that their portions are BIG. so if you're trying to order a variety, I'd suggest asking for half orders (which we later learned was an option, thanks to our waiter). Our second round of meat, was not so great. The hanger steak was quite dry/stringy, and the brisket was SO FATTYY. The table next to us also got brisket, but their cuts were much leaner and had more meat on it. Came here for dinner on a saturday night with a group. It was busy, but we were seated really quickly, especially since we didn't have a reservation. I've done all you can eat Korean bbq before, but this place actually has the servers cooking the meat for you as opposed to you doing it yourself. The table already comes with kimchi, bean sprouts, and broccoli as well as salt, sweet jalapeño soy sauce, and soybean paste, which they put on the cast iron as soon as you're seated. You have 90 minutes to dine, and they bring the check promptly as you get towards the end of the 90 minutes. Everyone at the table must order the same meat, and you do 3 at a time. The meat comes out pretty quickly. Our server So, it was really nice and informative about the menu. The marinated meats were delicious. I enjoyed the fried dumplings. They were unlike any dumplings i've had before. They looked like mini empandas. As my drink, i had the strawberry melona cocktail, which is soju, flavoring, and a melona (korean) popsicle. If you like sweet dessert-like drinks, then you'll like it. F.y.i if there is a lot of food leftover, there is a 30% surcharge. So i would come with an empty stomach. It's sad to say that the second cast iron down the street from this original one has closed. We were very fond of that one due to the atmosphere and the workers there. We ended here again on a Sunday night for dinner. It was about a 40 min wait which is typical since the other location was closed. Bummer. We got a drink at the bar and our bartender was very nice as well as the hostess. Everything went well until we were seated to eat. Our waiter just gave off weird vibes each time we order. We were told we can only order 3 protein items at a time which is understandable but was I was trying to order some sides, he walked away mid sentence. I found that a bit... odd but thought nothing of it the first time. But then he continuously did that after. It's like he didn't want to hear what I had to say. And each order I would ask for something, he would just make a face as if I am ordering off menu. I had to point to the menu online to confirm that I'm not crazy for ordering it. Overall, we did enjoy some of the food there but to our full extent. Cast Iron is not how it used to be. Servers were pretty nice back then but now I'm not sure. I ordered 4 meats to start (not knowing what the portions were) and was kinda surprised when the waiter kinda cut me off before I could order more... Now I know why. They give you sooooooo much! They can sense if you want to cook the food yourself or not, I didn't want to, so my server was more than happy to grill up everything in front of me. Food delicious for a good price for an AYCE. My friend recommended the Cast Iron Pot. I learned that there's 2 of them, #2 is closed for some reason until further notice, so go to this one. Also, there area's hard to get in and out of. It's also valet parking. I enjoyed the food and dishes that my mum ordered. My only gripe is that you are so close to the iron pot that, oil constantly flies out and hits you. As for service, we all felt like they were way to quick to wrap things up when we were on our final pieces of food. There were plenty of tables for other parties, so what's the rush? ACYE menu is pretty pricey given the cuts of meat available -- there is no kalbi (shortribs) even for the dinner menu which is often a staple and expensive cut that makes eating korean bbq worth its costs. Indulge in cuts like brisket, and pork jowl to make your meal worth it and try the more unconventional options that are offered as sides such as the tteokkochi which is deep fried mochi in hot sauce and the soy bean paste soup. Pork belly here is cut poorly and doesn't seem to be too fresh and the same can be said for a few of their steak options -- kind of grainy and doesn't have a fresh texture.
