My friends have been trying to convince me to go for at least a year. For no good reasons, I have been dodging it. Kinda regret that now. After my friend's birthday dinner (on a Tuesday), we wanted to go somewhere for "one drink" and this place was where we ended up. When we walked in, the bartender was cleaning and there was 1 other person there. Instantly, the decor caught my eye. All the walls are covered in some form of art -- I loved it. After we ordered our drinks, we were chatting and someone mentioned Jenga. Honestly this was my second time coming to Bar one and once again it was a great time, never a dull moment considering the fact that each time it's been on a random weekday. They have pretty good drink specials, food is decent but then again I've only tried their chicken quesadillas. They have plenty of TV's with all sorts of sports playing. They also have good music going in the background or if nothing exciting is happening on TV. I know on weekends they have a DJ so thats a plus. Service has always been TOP Notch! Ladies bathroom is a bit small but its nothing serious. They have a lot of parking in the front and towards the back. Great local sports bar, with friendly staff and decent food. I've been here multiple times, craft beer selection is solid, kudos to them supporting local breweries such as NJ Beer Co. and Carton Brewing. Burgers are fantastic, all prepared with Pat LaFrieda meat, I personally enjoy their Tex Burger (Bacon, BBQ sauce, White Cheddar and topped with onion rings). Multiple TVs surround the establishment displaying all NFL, MLB, NBA games and UFC fights. Bartenders/servers are very attentive and hustle to provide quality service. I'm sooo glad we are at the one year mark for this bar. I walked in to be very surprised. For some reason I have always overlooked this spot because of the location, but honestly it was the best thing that I ever found for my games. We went for the Mets game last night and boy were we in the right place. Everyone was happy, drinking, eating, and very friendly. Our bartender was get with suggestions, customer service, and follow-up. She even helped me with ideas on what to order (which I totally went with the fatty food). I got the nachos, now I will say its the wet cheese, which is fine, but I guess I haven't had it like that in a while, the chips were tasty, the guacamole was good I think (my man ate them all), the Pico De Gallo was divine, and overall I was a happy camper since this was my dinner (long story lets not talk about it)... My friend ordered the honey jack with something in it and I had a margarita with salt, then he decided it was margarita night and ordered one with me too. Very cool place. Trivia Night here is awesome. The bar stands alone, over a cemetery with a beautiful view of Jersey. Large selection of beers, including fruit beers. If you like Blue Moon try the Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen. What it lacks in strength, it more than makes up in flavor and spirit. Solid Philly Cheese Steak, on the steak and cheese wiz front, but the bread needed to make a decision - should I be soft or should I be crusty? Ambivalence was its demise. Very happy with how my first UYE turned out @ Bar One. It's a great place to come with a group, enjoy the food, the drinks, and for Wednesday's #TriviaNight. And for those DD's--there's a huge parking lot so no worries about finding parking. The owner/manager was really nice and set aside reserved seating after my co/host Carla called in to let them know a Yelp group was coming in. The entire night the bartenders made sure we were taken care of. Jovan (correct me if I'm wrong) made a drink to my liking ...we called it "Trap Queen", and before I knew it, he was making it for most of the ladies in the group. The happy hour specials are until 7 pm. People were raving about the burgers, the wings, etc. but I had a few bites here and there since I was trying to mingle with my guests :) I will for sure come back to have my own meal. Bar One has a little bit of everything for everyone. There's a little jukebox to choose your songs, a photobooth ($5), some arcade games, plenty of TVs to watch sports, beer pong tournaments, I can't forget about DJ Aldez at night, anddd there's a cemetery next door too! Plenty of TVs for watching the game - I just wish during big games that they kept the music for during commercials and that they played the commentary. Came here to meet up with a few friends. Was told capacity was 45 and had to wait for people to leave. We waited about 20min until the owner came out and said hi to someone. The person went down the stairs to the back entrance to the place and was allowed in even though they "were at capacity". I suppose this happened a few times since I noticed the person end up inside after giving a "What's up" to the owner. I decided to stand outside an count, which resulted in a count of exactly 48 people, excluding the kitchen and area directly behind the wall at the entrance (no windows or view unless you're inside). I have been meaning to come back to Bar One since the UYE I attended a few weeks ago. Finally got a chance to sample some of the menu and beers. For the beers, the better half went with a Grapefruit Hefeweizen and I had a blueberry wheat beer. They have s nice selection of beers with approximately 15 on tap and another 15 or so in bottles. For an appetizer, couldn't resist trying the fried chicken dumplings with Teriyaki dipping sauce. I normally go for steamed, but they were very good. The burgers are made with meat purchased from Pat LaFrieda, who supplies meats to high end restaurants in NYC. It was one of the better burgers I have had in a long time. I went classic, the Bar One Burger with American Cheese. The wife had the Mexicali burger with pepper jack cheese and avocado. We both ordered sweet potato fries to accompany the burgers which were served on a brioche bun. With plenty large screen TVs to watch a game, but before you leave check out the arcade room behind the jukebox. They have classic games that will bring back memories. read more

This is the local sports bar. I use to frequent it more often for lunch on the weekends. It now opens after 2pm, which is later for me so I don't visit as frequently. All of the food items I've ordered have been good. I've even placed orders to go. I really enjoy the dumplings, they are probably my favorite menu item. This area desperately needed something like this small pub. There are various specials every day, including happy hours. Yes happy hours on the weekends! Not a fan of sitting at a bar? Grab a seat at one of the booths, or head over into the game room. There's about 10 classic barcade style games in here AND a photobooth. The downside is the kitchen closes at 11 PM on the weekends--not a fan of that. Apparently the wings are killer, ive been here just for drinks but will be stuffing my face very soon here. Bar One is the best sports bar in this area hands down. I have been there numerous times and always have a good time which leads me to coming back. What makes a good sports bar you might ask? In my opinion it's service, food, drink selection, TVs, and as a bonus parking! Bar One has all of this. The owners and bartenders are always attentive and friendly and try their best to cater to any special drink or food requests you might have. They not only chat it up with regulars who go but also make an effort to any newcomers they might notice to ensure you will have a nice time. My favorite items to order from the menu are the wings (variety of sauces but my personal favorite is Teriyaki) and a burger. The Bar One Burger is your basic burger but the meat is juicy and seasoned just right. Add that with their "special sauce" and you have yourself a nice meal. You have a choice of which type of fries you would like to order (curly, steak frites, and sweet potato) which I find to be the cherry on top. It doesn't matter where you choose to sit inside because you have a perfect view of what you're there to watch. They have numerous TVs mounted around the entire bar which makes it easy on the neck so you're not straining to catch the game. I've sat at the actual bar, tables, and booths and all have been comfortable and with perfect views. A variety selection of drinks are offered so whether you're a beer or cocktail type of person you'll find something for you. If you're in the area or looking for a place to relax and have some good food but not in a place where it gets super crowded I would recommend Bar One. read more

I've been here about 3 times so far. The first two times were fine but I was here recently on Christmas night, although great drinks I was annoyed at something. I was annoyed at the fact when people put in money to listen to some songs on a juke box that the establishment cuts off at a song to play whatever they want to or skips the songs all together . If that's the case then don't have a juke box. I feel if that happens next time that I or anyone else for that matter should be reimbursed for the money they put in. Definitely not cool at all. And if you are going to play music for your establishment, please play a variety not only hip hop..there are other genres of music. You want to attract people not send them away. Aside from xmas they are usually understaffed, i kind of feel bad for the bartenders because this place gets packed on the weekends. Been coming to Bar One since it opened close to 4 years ago and have always had an enjoyable time , bar is very large and the bartenders are friendly and personal. Great selection of beers, some of which are from breweries in the immediate area and always change up the selection. My first time here the bartender and owner was able to sit us down and not only he gave us the best recommendations for drink but this guy gave us the menu by verbatim. The food was amazing! Came here after a wedding and was able to catch the cup games on here while waiting for some friends. Had some great service from the bartender Andrea, and was presented such a great selection of some up to date popular craft beers. Also ordered some food and was amazed at how flavorful and great the burger and taco salad was. Not only were we able to catch the game on the several of screens they have all over the bar and seating areas but they even had an old school arcade area with some classic games from the 80s and 90s (donky kong, punch out, etc). Also a jukebox to play whatever variety of music you could think of. The layout of the bar is a big center bar with seating all around t and tables around the walls for those not particular to the bar. Bathrooms were nice and clean too lol. The staff overall was pleasant and on top of things but really laid back and down to earth at the same time. this place has the potential of being great but something about it just doesn't work. i've been here a handful of times and each time, what makes this place worthwhile is my friends. this place is always empty which can be a good or bad thing but it's pretty bad when on a saturday there's less than 10 people. what made me take time out of my day to type this is because this last saturday, on a painfully slow and empty night at bar one, the bartender treated my friends and i disrespectfully. her name is laina. i didn't personally interact with her but when the bar was closing, there was NO LAST CALL. we just noticed the dim lights were suddenly brighter so yeah, we're all adults and get that we have to head out. but this laina lady screamed "BAR'S CLOSED! YOU GUYS GOTTA GO. CMON.. My usual sunday funday spot! This bar is pretty packed around the 1pm games so unless you get there at 12pm, you will have a hard time finding a place to sit. The drinks are great. I love the iPA selection on draft and bottles. The bartenders are amazing and very attentive. You will never go thirsty here. The food is great, and the customers are very friendly. The only downfall is the parking. On a very busy day expect to park on the street a few blocks away. The parking does not take away from this establishment. They have been in business a few years, doesn't seem like it's going to become the gem that it could have been. Just the same local faces. People who never really left town. Rumor had it that they had my favorite craft beer on tap- Kona Big Wave Golden Ale, which many places don't carry. So of course I had to go and see if the rumor was true so I can sit and enjoy my favorite beer. Just invade you all were wondering, it's true! But that's not the reason why I am giving it four stars. I came here on two occasions already, and both were pleasant. I met the bar manager Chuck who is extremely nice and a few other bartenders who always seem happy to serve. The bar itself is pretty big, and they have a ton of big flat screen TVs. I heard it gets hectic during football season and during big sports events which I would love to check out during the next big event? Maybe something to do for opening day? They also have old arcade games in the back room along with a dart board. They also serve food (which I have yet to try) along with booths and tables for the customers to sit at. Good place for a big sporting event when you want to hang out in a crowd. Nice service, great bar food and large selection of beers/cocktails. Best part is that they have a big parking lot, although we took an Uber. The only weird thing is that they have "psychics" there to do readings. I found that a bit odd for sports bar, almost like they were throwing ideas at the wall to see what would stick. I like this bar. It's nice and it has lots of tv's. Right now I'm waiting for the food so I really can't say if it's good or not. They have a decent beer menu and they crowd is nice. I do have a COMPLAIN though, one of the bartenders (girl) is really rude, she really didn't want to serve us I don't know why, she kept on serving other people that got to the bar after us, I had to ask the other bartender (guy) to help us. I just think that if you are a bartender you should do your job without judging customers HELLOOOOOOOO but overall this is a really nice place. Great choice of beers including some local craft beers, great food and I can't complain about the service either. The decor gives respect to the local area's history. Stopped by last night for a drink mostly because it seems to be empty. It was around 10-10:30 and there were only a few people there which was surprising. This place is spacious and had a good amount of parking. Bar is located right in the middle of the room with tons of seating. Booth tables on both side of the room with some high tops around the room as well. Staff was cool came by to get our drink order and wanted to see if we wanted some food as well. 2 drinks came out to like $16 bucks which is decent. i would definitely like to come back and try some of the food. read more

Chose this place for a last minute late dinner with my Mom. It's a bar but there are some high tables and booths available to have a meal. It's a pretty big place with a HUGE bar. It has a local dive feel but it's not gross or anything. Now to the important part...the food! O...M...G! I had a burger with sweet potato fries and it was delicious. The burger was perfectly cooked to medium well. The sweet potato fries were not greasy at all. I had a Moscow Mule and it was made perfectly and served in an actual Moscow Mule mug. Service was great, vibe was cool, there are large screen TV's to watch games and a jukebox for beats. Although the menu is limited, it's still worth a visit. I used to hate bone-in wings....not anymore. I used to hate curly fries....not anymore. I hated burgers with signature sauce...not anymore I used to be insulted by cheesesteak sandwiches served in pubs...not anymore. I once wrote that Northern NJ was a food desert....not anymore. Wing sauces are good enough to dip anything in. Whiz sucks and the world can eat better thanks to Bar One adding vodka sauce instead to a remarkably tasty cheesesteak. Burgers are as good as the service...again, the signature sauces almost steal an already tasty show.
