While JJ wasn't the lowest, they were the most comprehensive. For example, all of the other quotes quoted the shingles and work, but JJ Construction quoted shingles, tiles, gutters, and all hardware (new fans/vents/gutters). They are highly skilled. They did not rush the project (who wants a roofer who rushes?) and cleaned up every day. Communication was excellent. They installed Class 4 shingles, which lowered my home owners insurance by 20%. I ended up going with another company for my project, but still consider my interactions with JJ Constructing a positive experience. Voytek was able to come out within a few days, walk around the house and take photos, and talk to me about the process to replace the roof. A couple days later I got the estimate. It was roughly the same as other estimates I received (in other words it seems like a fair price). I like that the estimate was clearer to read and they included a diagram/analysis of my roof to show that they considered the shape and angles, not just square footage. The only reason I did not go with this company is because they said they will not do the work until spring (they would install a tarp until then) - this makes sense (look up winter roof replacement online to see the challenges), but I felt I was not in a position to delay the project. The best contractors I have ever hired. Rafal from JJ Construction worked with me through an insurance claim for damage to my roof from a hail storm. The Allstate Insurance claim process was a complete nightmare due to their agent's incompetence. Rafal was in near daily contact with the insurance agent to correct line items in their estimate. With Rafal's perseverance, I received more money than Allstate's original estimate. Once I received the insurance money, Rafal and his crew came out that week and started installing the new roof. I was dreading roof and gutter replacement just based on the cost but learned of mold in the attic and needed to get the job done before the weather turned. I live in the North Shore and originally reached out to the company that has trucks all over the area and is highly recommended and waited 3 weeks for our roof to be looked at and after I gave the go ahead there was not a response for a week and I needed to get this done. So...for the first time ever I turned to Yelp for services and not just to write a review on a business. My reasoning behind this is that my own business has benefited significantly from the Yelp community and decided to seek out a business like mine, as far as reviews go, and let me tell you, I wish I did this from the beginning. Since I was not receiving a response from the local company I Yelped JJ Construction and they were out the next day and were then all set with moving forward prior to hearing back from the local company. Roofing is expensive and you can try to save, but the most important thing is how things are done. The team at JJ Construction could not have been more professional with explaining all the work being done, made sure that everything was covered and cleaned up all debris that may have missed a tarp. In addition, they pointed out existing issues with ventilation and fixed. As I write this review the team is finishing up the project and do not have a before and after picture to share but once I have I will post. This could not have worked out better. Last year we had new siding installed by JJ Construction. We had a good experience since the beginning. We had quoted two other companies and we picked them even though not the cheapest but not the most expensive. The project manager assigned always communicated promptly when asked questions from start to finish. Unfortunately, found out he does not work there anymore. They did take there time doing the installation but it was due to staffing issues but I would rather them take their time and do it right. this year we had an issue with our downspouts and they came out and fixed the issue. He assessed the roof and found that many of the shingles were loose and able to be pulled up. He advised that I could seal these up myself and it should take care of the problem rather than paying his team to rip it up. He was very good at listening to our needs & questions, and at explaining what he was proposing and why. The price was competitive with other bids. The work itself went very smoothly; it was completed in one day, with minimal impact to our extensive landscaping, and negligible litter (we've found 3 small pieces of roofing material and 4 nails in the weeks following the work). Rafal and his team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was the only roofer who I received quotes from who actually had an itemized report of what was getting completed. His price was more than fair; they were not the cheapest, but the cost was more than reasonable for the work being done. I'd probably be concerned if the price was too low, as I would be weary of material quality, craftsmanship, etc. They were on site promptly and finished in one day (I was quoted two days, but they spent extra time and finished in one). He was an excellent communicator, even with all of the silly questions that I asked. Even after the roof replacement was finished, he came by twice to check on the work. He was there for the vast majority of the job, so I knew he was overseeing the work and making sure the quality was on point. After executing an agreement to have my front gutters replaced two weeks ago, JJ Construction sent me an "addendum" to sign today. Installation is supposed to be tomorrow. They wanted me to sign an addendum that states they will not be held responsible for any damage while they are removing and installing my gutters. What? Excuse me? You want me to TRUST you to do a great job and not mess up my roof while doing the replacement. And btw, if you do damage my roof you are not responsible? I do not trust anyone that doesn't want to back their own workmanship and doesn't have enough confidence in themselves to not damage my roof while doing a replacement of my gutters. I tried to get them to just limit damages to the definition of "minor scratches or dents". They refused. Their "addendum" specifically stated "any form of physical damage". Not only that, but they also wanted me to "adequately protect" the roof while they were doing the installation. Run. I also learned it wouldn't even be JJ Construction doing the work. They were going to contract the work out to an "old employee" of theirs. The representative actually told me and I quote, "He is better than any of the current installers we have". Well if that doesn't say anything. I would not recommend JJ Construction for any project. Hire someone that will stand behind their work and not hide behind a "Statement of Non-Responsibility." They canceled my contract - telling me it was "null and void". read more

Over Halloween, we had the living room ceiling cave in due to a roof leak that went unnoticed. We were very worried about the rainy and cold weather coming soon. We got 3 quotes, J J Construction was the middle one. Since the beginning we dealt with Voytek who has great communication skills, is very knowledgeable, and has great customer service skills. Just had my roof, gutters, downspouts and fascia replaced and I couldn't be happier with the job JJ Construction did! Voytek was my contact and project manager. He's a super nice guy and a square shooter. He listened to all my concerns and explained all that would need replacing and fixing. There was no attempt to upsell. The final price was only $200 more than his estimate, which to me is absolutely no big deal. Because of all the spring storms we've had, he was honest about not being able to start for about 2 months. I understood, especially since my job was not an absolute emergency. They finished the job in 3 days. Voytek oversaw everything. He patiently answered any questions I had during the process. The crews were masked and very prompt and efficient. Clean up was impeccable. I have not found a single nail or anything else around the property. And the new gutters and fascia look great! I had contacted another contractor for an estimate. Not gonna lie, his estimate was several thousand dollars less than JJ's. But he didn't use the materials that, in doing my research, were acceptable. He also went into a lot of jabber about his personal life and things I didn't need to, or want to know about. (His alcoholism, his wife...stuff like that.) I just didn't have a good feeling about him. Add to that, he couldn't get to the job until at least late October...I guess since he's a mom/pop outfit and doesn't have multiple crews. Hence, choosing JJ was a no-brainer for me. I am pretty touchy when it comes to the gardens around our house - other companies have trampled them while painting or doing other housework. JJ's crew did a great job of keeping the worksite clean and my gardens intact. Yay!!! Rafal, the owner, was on site the entire day. They did the whole job, start to finish, in one day. We had a lot of damaged wood that needed replacing and gutter caps they worked around, too, so I don't think it was an 'easy' job.
