I was impressed by his professional approach as he conducted his investigation in a thorough manner. He ran a drone over the roof and located the source of the leak and fixed it, and he did so quickly and efficiently. I greatly dislike writing negative reviews, but I did not have a positive experience with AJ as my salesman. Even if his quote came back lower than my other quotes (which it didn't), I ultimately did not feel comfortable giving him my business. Two major things stood out to me: 1. When he asked for what homeowners insurance I have, he was shocked and then scoffed at the fact that I have good insurance. I can only speculate as to the reason why (I'm young, my house is just under 300k, etc.), but the quality of insurance I choose should not elicit an opinion. 2. I specifically asked for a gutter quote and nothing else. After AJ did the inspection, I discover that he is also trying to sell me on a brand new roof. He shows me pictures that apparently display roof damage. My untrained eye could not detect any difference between the damaged and undamaged shingles on my 5 year old roof. Regardless, I share that I don't have any leaks (which again he was shocked that the barely detectable "damage" is not causing leaks), and he further tried to sell me on a new roof with the gutters as an after thought. I'm not going to fix something if it works. This tactic ultimately will get them more business; however, when it's clearly not an issue, he should have dropped the idea. Plus, anyone living in Illinois is going to have some wind damage... doesn't mean it needs to be fixed. On a positive, he did assure me that my BRAND NEW garage roof was in perfect shape, so at least he got something right. Overall, a higher quote, judgmental comments, and sleazy tactics, ultimately led me to spending my money elsewhere. read more

We could not be happier with our experience working with Horizon! Our home's siding had storm damage and Horizon worked with us and our insurance company to get the siding replaced. We reached out to a couple other companies and did not feel that they were on the "up and up". Jack, our project manager, came out and was very honest and helpful. He was extremely responsive and professional. The two men who did the work on our house (sorry, I have forgotten their names) were also extremely professional. They cleaned up every day and were very respectful of the fact that we have three little kids and a dog. One of the guys even helped me when my car wouldn't start one morning! We had a roof leak into interior of our Vernon Hills (northern Chicago suburb) home and called Horizon Restoration plus 2 other top local roofers per Yelp. - Horizon responded first plus was first to visit us. - Jack from Horizon found wind & hail damage on our roof and immediately advised that our homeowner insurance should cover it - he was correct. This saved us many thousands of dollars, of course! - Almost immediately, Horizon's team successfully discovered and sealed the leak. - Jack led us through every step including contacts with insurance company and accurate scheduling of his team - I was out of town for most of these events: Jack kept me updated; his communications are thorough and excellent. - Horizon recommended and obtained a complete roof replacement from the insurance company (they showed how the wind and hail damage covered the entire roof, which I wasn't aware of. Therefore, the leak Horizon responded to was only the first of more to come). - Horizon provided a wide range of roofing choices from 3 of the leading manufacturers - including the biggest name in the business. - They also replaced the gutters and downspouts, working with me on selection of each - Horizon took pictures of every major step, thoroughly answering and solving my concern about possible mold in the roof's underlayment - which were replaced - and below - The roofing work was excellent.
