I mentioned before Frankie goes to Bollywood is my favorite. This time, I enjoyed Umami mushroom breakfast wrap. It's JUST Egg(plant based egg), roasted umami mushrooms, potato hash, and vegan spiced mayo, all wrapped in a red bell pepper tortilla. Nice coffee shop in the middle of the business district of downtown. Parking here is horrendous. It's all metered around here. The coffee shop has a nice "vintage meets modern" feel to it. The main area has several bar-style seats and booths, with a nice smaller mezzanine. The lamps are giant copper-coloured bowls, which give the place a nice yellow glow. There is also a small narrow patio out in front. Staff were friendly. I got my coffee fairly promptly, and it was decent. The only real complaint is that the place closes 1800 and aren't even open on weekends, but as they are serving the professional crowd, this makes sense. read more

Beautiful, new "undiscovered" JJ Bean, and it seems that each new shop is more aesthetically pleasing than the last. They do offer a dark, less acidic roast of coffee, too, which I will certainly purchase the next time I'm buying beans. Less acidic coffee is much better for those with health issues, and less acidic is quite difficult to find in fresh beans--anywhere. The grilled panini and chocolate chip cookie were great, as was my latte. I just wish that they made the lattes hotter as mine became cold very fast. Five stars for the lovely staff and lovely space. I would definitely go out of my way to return here and even grab a bite to go (which I did). Much better and less busy than SB and that god awful food court. The space is large, clean and with clean BRs too. I didn't go upstairs, but the balcony told me that there was lots of seating. I have pretty high coffee standards, so this is def. almost a five star. I'll be back! read more

The newest JJ Bean is also the greatest! I should preface this by saying I have a strong draw towards any and all heritage buildings, so anything located in the Marine Building is an automatic 3 stars just for history. That said, the renovation JJ Bean did on this space is completely beautiful, and I love it. They pay careful attention to the heritage qualities of the building, while transforming it into an elegant and modern new space. I have never once had a bad interaction with the staff at JJ Bean, who are consistently friendly but never obnoxiously so. The food and coffee is the same across the board, and I am generally opposed to chains, but this one is A-OK with me. It's only been open a couple of weeks but I've already stopped by a few times for a coffee to go, and twice killed a couple of hours sitting here in the large open space. Beautiful. I live closer to the Alberni location, but will be visiting this one a lot more frequently. read more

They have the best cinnamon buns here! There is a glaze on the outside and inside it is soft and gooey. Served with lots of frosting on top. Docking a star because they are often sold out early on in the day. Would be better if they can just stock up more. read more

Okay, one of my friends got me into the whole coffee scene since he's some addict. So when I went to Vancouver I had to find THE MOST Vancouver coffee. After speaking to a few locals JJ Bean Coffee it was! This JJ bean is a block or two from the water in downtown. Nothing bougie and not too busy on a Saturday morning. I got their regular coffee. I have to say it was pretty good. And I'm not saying this because I'm a big uber excited Vancouver noob either. I also got a yogurt with fruit. If you know my friend who's a coffee addict, you would agree he would of got this too (instead make it Greek yogurt). It was premade and the granola didn't get soggy. GOOD and yum. Overall, I would definitely come back here when I'm in town next time. Gotta drink what the Vancouver people drink. read more

This was my first time at JJ Bean. I had a medium chai latte. Overall, the latte was good with a nice cinnamon flavour, however I did find it overly sweet. I paid almost $5 (including tax) for this drink, which is ridiculous. That's even more expensive than Starbucks! I would probably choose another coffee shop next time. New JJ spot that opened up on Burrard. I'm on the fence with this one - both times i've been here the wait has been ridiculous! 10-15 minutes humming and hawing around for my latte? I mean, kudos to being busy guys, but you need another barista back there slinging the caffeinated goodness! Us Yelpers need fuel, fast! But on the plus side, the digs are rather pretty to look at while you hop from foot to foot in coffee anticipation. The GIGANTIC light fixtures? Cool. Very very cool. Though of course, I kept thinking... hmm... what would happen in an earthquake? I wonder if they have to reinforce those bad boys for potential tremor-times. Must make a point to ask next time i'm in and thus, carry on the tradition of "make your barista feel awkward Tuesdays!" And as coffee goes, JJ is always a safe bet. It's a solid coffee choice. Not spectacular but consistently good. Boasts free wifi and additional seating up top. Great place for meetings when you have a few minutes to slow down the hectic life pace. The newest location just opened next door to my work at the Marine Building in the Vancouver's Financial district. I can always count on walking into JJ Bean with a big "good morning", smile, and the lovely aroma of fresh ground coffee in the air. Plus, their cheddar & chive scone is one of my guilty pleasures. While this location looks a little more sterile than say, Main Street, it definitely is a lot cosier than the bigger Alberni Street location. Two floors, clean tables, very minimalist decor. Always a great cafe. This is the first location I've seen the vegan breakfast wrap at - can't wait to try it! only complaint is, I specifically came in because I was craving the chocolate chip banana bread, but saw that this location individually wrapped the slices in plastic wrap (the Pender location had them unwrapped). I ended up getting the vegan blueberry bran muffin because I didn't want to get the packaging. A shame. I wish they would wait at least until the end of the night to wrap things up. read more

Location has great upscale design in the Marine Building, If you have the time take you Drink Upstairs and relax and enjoy the tables and chairs. Good place for Business Meeting I can see consultants making there internet pitchs as with the laptop as easy as I can see guys that have nothing in pockets but smile and lot to talk pitching for "young girls hearts" The dirp coffee has was tab cold and little bitter but Im still a soild fan. read more

There are two main reasons to come here - the french press is consistently good, and that little outdoor patio is fantastic for people watching. I don't care much for their espresso drinks. It's also not a bad place for a casual business meeting as well - during the week you will see a lot of suits in here. read more

Interior is super nice with good amounts of seating both downstairs and upstairs. Have literally NEVER had a bad drink from these folks before, even when it gets insanely busy between 8-10am. I am a fan of JJ Bean coffee and their baked good as well (three cheers for vegan muffins). I have come here a couple of dozen times since it opened and never had a bad experience. My only gripe is that the baristas rarely smile. Now, I don't need to be handed my coffee with plastered smiles... it's just that I like to think I am an empathetic person and it makes me worry whether or not they are doing alright. That's all. Greatly disappointed by their ability to satisfy my cookie fix. I'm not sure why they only bake cookies in the morning and are done when they run out, but they really shouldn't be out of a specific cookie by 1pm and say I have to come back the next morning. Wouldn't any other logical business that just keep making cookies? They're not a tiny business that closes when they're sold out. So I ended up buying a consolation oatmeal raisin cookie (don't judge me, I like oatmeal raisin), and half the cookie was chocolate chips. That's sort of terrifying for someone with allergies because while I'm not allergic to chocolate, I'd be concerned with actual allergens in my food rather than cross-contamination. I'm okay with certain foods in the vicinity of, which is often clarified, but when an entire ingredient is added to a recipe that shouldn't be, that's a problem. I may stick with their caramel cookies because it does appear like it can't possibly have ingredients mixed as it doesn't have the same basic make-up. read more

BUT whatevs....JJ BEAN!!! doesn't take much. one question though...is the plaid shirt and tuque-half-hanging-off-the-head part of the uniform? this is a serious question. read more

A new JJ Bean in a heritage building. The inside is very modern with heritage accents. The black ceiling looks good as well as the oversize black/gold lights. Like all locations, they have the best tea. The only cafe with Assam tea. No longer have assam tea, such a shame. Tea selection is just ok now. The ambiance here...well there is none. It is nestled inside a business tower with limited seating, people with busy faces and struts. People are always bumping into you, never say excuse me 'cause they need to get to the office ASAP and in turn the baristas never smile and are on stress 'cause of the pressure. Came here for a meeting and was blown away by the beautiful interior. The muffins are huge, the coffee is good, and there is so much seating available with free wifi that it makes me want to go back there everyday. Baristas are friendly but not crazy bubbly like at Starbucks. There is a lounge-like area on 2nd floor too! read more

The beautiful interior of this store makes it a treat to stop into in the mornings. I always get a gigantic peach muffin, which has a marvelously crispy top. This place is great. Always friendly staff, and though hipsterish they leave their attitude at the door or maybe don't have one to begin with. Super good Americano Mistos and cinnamon buns. Doesn't matter if there's a line or not, they don't wreck your order and rush you along. Nice to go here and in a great location downtown in the business district.
