I made reservations for right when they opened at 1130 on a Sunday. We were the only patrons for about 20 minutes. After reading some reviews, I went in thinking food would take a while but i'm sure being alone there helped. Service was great. We were greeted promptly and with a big warm smile by the hostess. They asked if we wanted a booth or a table and we got a beautiful booth. Great ambiance. Both the hostess and our waiter mentioned my birthday, since I put on the reservation. He told me immediately that the dessert of our choice would be on the house. Our waiter was very friendly and gave great suggestions. The manager stopped by at some point to check in. Everyone greeted us with smiles and were warm and friendly. We each had two signature gin based drinks and enjoyed both of them, the citrus blossom being our favorite. We started with the hot and sour soup and the prawn toast. My husband loves hot and sour soup and has been disappointed in recent ones. But the waiter assured us it was good and he was right. It was a large portion and it was delicious. The prawn toast was unique and I loved the contrast of the warm fried prawns and toast dipped in the chilled lemon cream. For entrees we enjoyed the chili garlic fried chicken and the Genghis khan beef. Both were delicious and good portions. For my birthday dessert I had the banana lumpia. I love a good banana lumpia. And it came with lots of marscapone ,which honestly I could have done without but that's just personal preference. I wasn't able to eat here, so I don't have an actual review, more of a warning... DO NOT go here if you or anyone in your party require Gluten Free options. The server had to go check what the options were when we asked, and they came back with "we can make you steamed vegetables." Umm no thanks, we're not going to spend $200 for my boyfriend to eat vegetables. We unfortunately had to get up and leave before ordering. This is the first time we've encountered this issue since my boyfriend had to go gluten free 3 years ago. It's 2025, there are plenty of Asian sauce options made gluten free, we use and eat them alllll the time. Welcome Jin Jia to Desert Ridge! We weren't expecting much, but ended up being very impressed. They remodeled the entire restaurant; it is gorgeous! Perfect spot to take a date to impress or out of town guests. Service was excellent as well. We ordered the Hot & Sour soup to start. It had little too much soy sauce in it as you can tell from my photo. Other than that, it was delicious and they didn't skimp on the seafood. It had lots of shrimp and scallop pieces keeping our taste buds happy. We also ordered the Yang Jang Pi. We had this dish in many restaurants before and even tried making it at home, but I must say tonight's version was the best. It was loaded with premium ingredients and so very fresh. The seasoning was excellent as well. This was our favorite of the night and it was big enough for two people to share. Will be dreaming of this dish until next time. Lastly, the Hot Chili Bell Pepper Beef served with fresh warm bread (buns). If you like onions and bell peppers like we do, then this dish is perfect. Food was good, but is it worth braving the racism? Upon walking in, my first observation was that I didn't see anyone who looked East Asian working in the front of the restaurant as a host, management, or server. (Not a negative thing but it's something you might notice in a Korean Chinese restaurant.) Don't worry because soon you will learn where they are! Things went downhill once the server came to take our orders. He went into a long spiel about how unique the restaurant is and how "it is unlike anywhere else we have dined." Word for word, he said this: "Our chef is from China, and he brought his team directly from China. They don't speak English and they all live together. It's not like other places where they have Juan, Jose, and Felipe working in the back..." When he was done going over the menu items, my friend let him know what he said was racist and offensive after which he got defensive and proceeded to argue with us for a few minutes over whether or not we should be offended about what he said. Eventually he "apologized" (while still defending what he said) and went to get the manager. I asked if what the server had said was something that they are trained to say but the manager assured us he should not have said any of that. We got a new server and the rest of the service for the night was good. Regarding the food and drinks: Star in the Sky drink: I liked this one. Make sure you like star anise. Watermelon Beijing Mule: I was excited for the baijiu but the drink was too sweet and artificially watermelon. The King Crab Egg Drop Soup, Jja-ja noodle, Jjam-pong, and Sweet and Sour Beef were all solid. Portions were smaller than expected for family style dishes especially for the beef. I was really excited for this to open, and while it's a very nice spot it just didn't match up to the price or other spots I've been too. It is lovely inside and one of the waiters at a other table seemed great and really into his job and the food. Ours was a basic server. The best thing was their shrimp appetizer (is it a sign when the appetizers the best thing ‍). Like I said, the dishes weren't cheap (btw no happy hour or lunch menu that I could see) and overall were just good and not amazing. The shrimp dish was good, but a little more gooey than I'd expect, the sauce wasn't refined and stop serving shrimp with tail shells! The chicken dish was a very basic and not spicy schzeuen but not a lot to it. And even at $35 and $38 charged extra for fried rice. ‍ Not sure I'd come back sadly. read more

Came to try out this place as it was a brand new Korean-Chinese fusion spot. Upon entering the hosts Manager (not too sure who he was) told us the only seating available was in the patio area and the lounge area, even though we could clearly see there were available tables in the dining area. So he asks us to wait while he does a little walk around to see what's available, comes back and has one of the hostesses take us to a table that is barely large enough to hold three or four dishes (we ordered four things, pictured). Our server while being very attentive, behaved in a manner that he looked like we were taking too long to decide, it's our first time, obviously we aren't accustomed to the menu yet. Of the things we wanted to try that night literally all of the dumpling options they were out of, we had ordered the Wagyu Beef Belly Chow Fun, and 15 minutes into waiting our server and his manager (not the same one from before) come up to tell us that the food we ordered was not available, and that we had to select something else. This manager was fairly ok, but still gave off tan arrogant vibe. Overall, the food we got was mediocre at best. The prawn still had their tails on and it looked like it was dipped in heavy batter and deep fried before adding the sauce. The sweet and sour beef was plain, I would go so far to say that sweet and pork from PF Changs was way better. The Jja-Jang Noodles we got was very salty, I've never drank so much water in a dinner sitting. The only thing I really though was decent was the hot and sour soup, while it a packed with everything that normally comes in hot and sour soup it was missing the hot part. It did not have the spicy kick that I usually experience when ordering that dish anywhere else. My advice on this restaurant is this, if you're looking for good Chinese food, the hole in the wall restaurants you can find through out Phoenix are much better than this over priced place and can be more authentic. read more

So excited to have a new restaurant at Desert Ridge! The interior is beautiful and has been completely redesigned - it actually feels a lot smaller than it did when it was CPK. It's a little pricey compared to what's usually in Desert Ridge, and the atmosphere/furnishings match that. They were sold out of all appetizers by the time we got there (7pm). We got the chili garlic fried chicken, mango prawns, chicken fried rice, and jja jiang noodles. The chili fried chicken was delicous, as was the mango prawn (they're huge prawns, with tails on, with about 6pc on the plate). The chicken fried rice was okay and not worth $24. Maybe if it had some seasoning and more vegetables? It was beyond mild. The jja jiang noodles were delicious but come with verrrry little meat even though the description says beef is in there. We found a few small pieces. Service was great, considering they've only been open three days. They're clearly working hard and getting better with each table that comes through. Our server and bartender also asked for constructive criticism, which was great, and we were happy with their recommendations. We had the milk tea tart and sweet potato for dessert. Tart was tasty but nothing special. The sweet potato was disappointing - I'm used to candied sweet potato (and strawberries, orange slices, etc.) that have a solid sugar shell that cracks when you bite it. These didn't crack/ have a thick shell. Overall, it didn't feel like a dessert. With a little finesse, they can make it more of a dessert. The lemon sorbet that came with it was a great palette cleanser, but it didn't go with the sweet potato at all. We had fun as a group and enjoyed the family style nature of the restaurant. We'll be back to try more dishes, especially the noodles and soups! read more

Came for lunch at 1pm since we were in the area and wanted to beat the dinner rush. Only a few other groups so we were immediately seated. Nice upscale decor and background music made for a nice ambiance. Glanced over the family style menu and went with the Seafood Medley Pot, Prawn Toast Menbosha, Hot Chili Bell Pepper Beef, and Jin Jia Chicken fried rice. Everything was well prepared and presented decently. Food was delicious, however, this is set as an upscale venue and is priced as such FYI. Just to give context to my review. Born in Hong Kong and grew up in Toronto with access and experience with various casual and high-end Asian cuisines. My husband (who is not Asian), my 7-year old, and I went in for lunch on a Saturday. They just opened so we were seated promptly. Our server was extremely kind and attentive, but a little nervous and not fully familiar with the menu yet. No complaints though overall regarding service. We have yet to stop talking about this place since going last Friday! What was an extremely long day for my partner and self, ended on the most positive note when we were led through a great meal, from start to the very end. The pictures and menu descriptions will never do the justice of showcasing the absolute best flavor profiles across so many unique dishes that I have ever tasted! We got here and since we went on lunch time we just wanted to get the specials. Our server kind of ruined the experience as she was being too helpful but also being pushy and kind of rude to us. Asking us what we want but also trying to push and adding orders we know we didn't want because we knew we can't finish that much food. It is pricey but I mean come on.. it's in desert ridge the rent there must be ridiculous.. so considering a lot of other things like interior, quality of the seafood, you get what you pay for. We got the seafood pot medley, jja jang myun, jjam bong, citrus spicy chicken.. jjam bong broth is a lot more rich than the regular Korean jjam bong I've ever had. Jja jang myun was bomb with big slices of beef instead of ground pork. Citrus spicy chicken the batter was bomb!!! So crispy and light.. And I had the best Jasmin tea ever!!!!!!!! We just last night and had a wonderful experience. The food was legit, presented fancy and clean eating (coming from a Bay Area native). The ambiance was upscale( reminded me of SINO at Santana row -Santa Clara, CA) which might have been nostalgic for me. Finally *modern* Cantonese style dishes (not Americanized crap or stuck in the 70-80's shit you mostly get in Los Angeles, San Francisco) Yes it's pricey but quality of ingredients and cooking style is top notch. I would go as far to say it's the best modern Chinese restaurant in the state, independent of price. Chinese food has moved forward in mainland China and Hong Kong AGES ago... only few cities like Vancouver, BC have been keeping up with modern Cantonese so it's nice to see more of this in AZ hopefully. Drove by this restaurant countless times and was skeptical of its Asian fusion. I was craving traditional Chinese food but my 'go to' restaurant was closed on this holiday Monday. Read the reviews and thought I'd give it a chance. Wow!!! From beginning to end, I was blown away with their culinary delights. Ordered the Jinjia Crispy Egg Roll and the King Crab Egg Drop soup to start. Could not get enough of the egg roll -- light, crispy batter with wonderful seasoning and the soup was on point -- gentle, flavorful with a hint of crab. We also had the Citrus Soy Chicken which was prepared with light batter, tasty sweet soy sauce and complemented it with white rice. All of it was simply amazing --including the dessert (Trident Banana lumpia) which was outstanding. Ambiance and service matched the food as well. Our waiter guided us well through the menu. Bravo to the chef for a masterful job!! Only callout: although a little pricey, take advantage of happy hour choices and entrees are shareable.
