Mmmmmm, breakfast! Eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns!
    David W.

The first time I ever visited Jim's Open Kitchen, I walked in, lasted about 30 seconds, and then walked right back out. You see back then smoking was still allowed in restaurants. And Jim's allowed smoking. But, fortunately, times change (as well as laws) and once I went back to a non-smoking Jim's I knew that this was truly an epic breakfast spot. Don't expect frilly crepes or weird granola, fruit, nut flax seed bowl thingies. This is breakfast. Eggs. Bacon. Toast. Butter. Lots and lots of butter. The staff is friendly. The place is clean. And I always feel like the same 4 guys are sitting at the counter any time that I go. For breakfast today I got basic eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns. Eggs cooked exactly how I wanted them, bacon crispy, toast slathered in butter. The potatoes? Again, a butter experience. Boiled potatoes that are sliced up and fried in butter Yes please! The only negative? Coffee tasted a little burnt. I assume the pot was sitting out on a burner for just a bit too long. But a minor complaint to an otherwise awesome breakfast. Sadly I moved away from the Cleveland area several years ago. So I can't get to Jim's as often as I'd like. But when I do get back to Cleveland, and Solon specifically, Jim's is always on my list of places to go!

Old school. Nothing frozen, everything freshly made. The cooks are right there for everyone to see working the flattop like pros. The food? Well that's incredible. Corned beef hash that was shredded and crisp. Coffee. The Herb Nelson, potatoes, meat, cheese and eggs. Biscuits and gravy featured soft and light biscuits enrobed in a flavor packed sausage gravy. Not sure where this place has been all my life. The place is small and always packed but the good news is they've opened a second location in Streetsboro.

Jim's Open Kitchen is a small, traditional diner. The atmosphere is cute, the food is cooked up quickly and served hot and fresh. Customer service was great, very friendly. My only complaint is that it was very cold. Understanding that it's December, but a restaurant shouldn't be that cold. I'll be back for sure, when it's warmer outside!

Excellent little diner in Solon. Small space but service was quick. The staff were all very friendly and treated us like we had been going there for years. The food was fantastic. We shared the Bananas Foster French Toast and the Herb Nelson with a side of Hash. Every was delicious and cooked perfectly. They hash was some of the best I've ever had and the French Toast was amazing. Perfectly Sweet without being overly so. We did not add syrup since it came with Carmel Sauce and Whipped Cream. It was perfect as is. The Herb Nelson is a scramble of eggs, home fries, bacon (or sausage) with onions and toast. Excellent! If you're in the area I would recommend checking it out!

Jim's Open Kitchen serves up some of the best breakfast food I have had ever. And you don't have to take only my word for it, you can ask anyone that's in front of you while you're waiting in line to get a seat. As of the writing of this review, Jim's has been serving Solon for 60 years and I can't imagine they will ever stop. My wife and I enjoyed everything we ordered which included the country benedict, the ultimate Herb, and bananas foster french toast. I think my favorite was the country benedict.

I've loved coming to Jim's since I was in high school. It's a Solon institution. The Herb Nelson has always been my favorite. I decided to try the Ultimate Herb this time. It was delicious, but I think I prefer the regular because I didn't love the tomatoes/green peppers in it. My husband and I also got the Country Benedict and the Bananas Foster French Toast. Both were delicious. The Bananas Foster French Toast is no longer on the menu, but they still made it for us. It's a popular place, so expect a bit of a wait on the weekends. They move fast though, so it doesn't usually take too long. My biggest surprise this visit is that they now accept credit card. It used to be cash only. I try to come here every time I'm in town visiting my parents because I love it.

Been here before on a previous trip to Solon, Ohio. This is your old school, family owned, diner. Love this place!! They're only open for breakfast and lunch, hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. They opened a second location in Streetsboro, Ohio. Service and food exceptional. I had the pancakes and my husband had the french toast, we both enjoyed our meals. Love their coffee and the coffee cups. You can't go wrong with this place, they're quick and the prices are reasonable. If your visiting Solon or just passing through, give them a visit.

So I ask for the REAL manager So now I get the GM And then the beignets come that he said the first manager said he would give us Why. Why because first he offered a dessert for each wrong order but the he sent out the waitress to tell us that was too much The the beignets come out and they are on my bill They tried to make it right but who sends out the waitress to be the hatchet man ?? Not professional at all The. Before we leave we checked with the bank. Amounts not right So back to the waitress and GM All in all not a good experience. The food was good but not exactly right and the waitress was very nice trying to help but not her fault. At all. Nice young lady and trying to be helpful. I always seek out the locally owned, non-chain spots with a lot of cars in the parking lot when not in a familiar place, and Glenwillow fit the bill. We walked in and were a little surprised by how fancy the dining room was - white tablecloths and a very nice ambiance, I almost felt underdressed - but there were guys in work uniforms at a table, and we made our way to the equally impressive bar area. I can only speak to the lunches we had and what we saw some out of the kitchen, but I'd love to go back for a dinner date. Lobster bisque was delicious and came in a large bowl. We both had salads, he the greens and I the Caesar "side" salads. They were huge - these weren't the lunch menu salads, mind you - just supposed sides. I'm not sure I could've eaten anything other than soup with a salad that size! We saw burgers (also massive) and "Flatbreads" that were more the size of a medium pizza delivered to the patrons around us and all appeared excellent. Definitely recommend for lunch, and hope to experience a dinner there soon!

I never leave negative reviews, but our experience at RollHouse was incredibly disappointing,…read moreespecially considering this was supposed to be a special day for my little brother's 7th birthday. We booked a party for him, invited all of his friends and their parents, and expected a fun, organized experience. Unfortunately, the service was practically nonexistent. In fact, I can't even say the service was terrible because there really wasn't any service to speak of. We spent most of the time trying to figure things out ourselves and struggled to get assistance whenever we needed it. What made the situation even more frustrating was discovering that we were automatically charged a 20% service fee. For what, exactly? A service charge is supposed to reflect actual service provided, but we received little to none. Charging customers an automatic gratuity while failing to provide the level of service it implies is incredibly disappointing. When we brought our concerns to the manager, Maria, instead of taking responsibility or trying to make things right, she explained that one of her employees had called off. While I understand that staffing issues happen, that's an internal management problem--not the customer's responsibility. We still paid the full price for the party, including the mandatory 20% service charge. If customers are expected to pay full price regardless of staffing shortages, then the business should still be expected to provide the level of service those charges are meant to cover. Birthdays are important, especially for young kids. Families spend a lot of money to create lasting memories, and unfortunately, this experience left us feeling frustrated rather than celebrated. I hope RollHouse takes customer concerns more seriously in the future, reevaluates its automatic service fee policy, and ensures managers take accountability instead of offering excuses. Based on this experience, I can't recommend booking a birthday party here.

The owner--not a manager--told me there was nothing she would do and that I needed to file a complaint with DoorDash. DoorDash didn't prepare the food; the restaurant did. What disappointed me most wasn't the mistake itself, but the complete lack of accountability and customer service. Errors happen, but refusing to address them is unacceptable.
