If you don't have time to read my whole review, suffice it to say this place had the worst food I've had in a long time. I am a bit of a foodie, but I also know not to have high expectations when it comes to these types of diners/family restaurants. I thought I knew what to expect, but it was just so bad I'm still wondering if I just came back from a bad nightmare. First, the menu is really bizarre. The breakfast items look about right, but we were there for lunch. All of the entrees come with a ridiculous amount of sides, i.e. soup AND salad AND veggies AND spaghetti. Why? Why spaghetti? If you want a light lunch, there are no a la carte options. I asked. All I wanted was a fish or steak with a side salad, but no, it has to come with the whole shebang. I settled for the 7 oz steak meal, thinking I'd just box up what I didn't need for later. I got the cream of broccoli soup, the spaghetti, and the salad, and the veggies, all of which came with the meal. I asked for a vinaigrette dressing for my salad, and the waitress said, "uh, well we have like, Italian?" Uh oh. The cream of broccoli came out first and I can only describe it as a weird, tasteless porridge. I have never had a cream of broccoli I couldn't tolerate, even straight out of a can, until today. I politely choked down a couple of bites, then scooted the rest to the side of the table. The side salad was pretty much as I expected: colorless pieces of iceberg lettuce and cucumbers, with a few croutons. Again, I took a couple of polite bites. Unfortunately, this was the best part of my meal. The main course came out all on one plate. A heaping serving of straight-from-the-can beans and carrots, which I didn't touch. The steak appeared to be cooked close enough to medium, which I'd requested, but then I took a bite. It did not even taste like real meat. The flavor had that vomit-like aftertaste, and it was so tough and rubbery. I choked down the one bite somehow, because I didn't want to spit food out in front of my client whom I was dining with. Needless to say, that was the only bite I took. My client had gotten a steak salad, and she likewise didn't touch any of the steak pieces after trying one, and just sat there picking at the lettuce. The spaghetti was also a joke. Over cooked, mushy noodles, and the sauce was a brown liquid with a strange flavor. Very unappetizing to look at, so there were no surprises that it also tasted disgusting. So there I was with this enormous meal, with not one single item on it that I could stomach, and in the awkward position of having to tell the waitress, as nicely as I could, that none of it was good enough to eat. The waitress was nice enough to suggest that I choose something else from the menu in exchange. At this point, I was very doubtful that anything on the menu would be palatable, but I didn't have the gumption to just ask for a refund. I really do try not to be rude at all costs. I ended up asking for the western bacon cheeseburger to go, thinking you can't really go wrong with bacon, can you? I told her not to worry about any of the sides. Did I mention the service had been extremely slow the whole time? This was fine for us, because my client and I had a lot to talk about. But that is why I had to order my burger to go. So now I'm sitting at home with the burger sitting in my fridge, stomach growling, but also having no desire to touch a burger that came from a place with such poor taste. Still trying to decide if I want to give it a try or just throw it away. If you are hoping for some greasy, salty, satisfying diner food, GO SOMEPLACE ELSE! If you're starving and looking forward to stuffing your face with American food goodness, you will be sorely disappointed. This place is for people who have never known how good food can be, who, when served cardboard posing as meat, wouldn't even notice the difference. I try to be a positive person and give businesses the benefit of the doubt, but I really do believe I am doing a public service by warning people away from this restaurant. This food is not fit for humans, and if this is the quality of "food" that they think is ok to serve, then this restaurant does not deserve to stay in business. read more

This is my favorite breakfast place. You get a great bang for your buck. I always leave feeling full. Prices are very adequate too. Most breakfast platters are between $5-$10. Service is great. Servers are very friendly and the food usually gets out quickly. If you're looking for an inexpensive yet delicious family style breakfast restaurant, then this is the place for you. read more

We love Jim's. Food is great and the staff is amazing. You're always treated like family and everyone helps each other, even if they aren't assigned to your table. Wish they'd build a location closer to us, but we'll still drive the 20 miles to come! read more

Jim's - "Jim's Breakfast" - New American Near Me - American Fork, Utah

Went to eat at this restaurant as we were down in Utah County. The food was phenomenal! Paige the waiter is the best waiter in the country. The pancakes were the best we've ever had and the service was excellent. We went there for our son's birthday it was a perfect ending to a day at the GRiD race track. Thanks so much to the friendly wonderful kind staff and amazing food. read more

My husband and I love this place. We always get greeted quickly, seated quickly, and food is ready quickly. The manager is very kind to us and the pies are seriously better than anywhere around this area. We come here at least once a month and will for a long time. read more

I am appalled at the lack of service we received at Jim's. We have been going for a few years. Sometimes weekly. The food is not bad if it's not cold. Tonight I ordered the special, pork roast. The baked potato was the only hot thing on the plate. The veggies felt like they had just come out of the freezer and the roast was cold. I am guessing we had a new server because she never came to check on us and didn't know what to do about the cold meal. My husband finished his dinner and I finished the potato and waited about 10 more minutes before she came back. How did they fix it? They offered to take it off the bill and reheat it. Ok, if that's the only option. The manager, Terri who is quite rude, actually quite the piece of work said she was not taking it off the bill, and said "you ate it reheated didn't you?" Ok, yes I did because that was the option you gave me Terri and to take it off the bill. She said again, "you ate it right?" Now I'm not happy she's bullying me and she's trying to humiliate us. We had asked twice to speak to her. Finally she came to the table. No wonder the parking lot was empty tonight. I can not believe anyone in a management position would be so insulting and rude. You have lost our business from this point on. Bye bye Jim's non friendly Friendly Diner!!! read more

I don't know why this place is rated how it is. I once went here with my dad and it was a very unpleasant experience. It took about forty five minutes for us to get our soggy, disappointing pancakes. Try somewhere else if you want good food. read more

If i could give a negative review i TOTALLY would!!! The BLT's didn't have much dressing which made it dry and it had a lot of lettuce on it which really made it a lettuce sandwich. Asked for extra dressing and it took an additional 20 minutes to get AFTER sandwich was gone. Child's spaghetti said marinara sauce and it came with meat sauce which my child refused to eat. The side salads were hard lettuce and soup I ordered was Cream of broccoli (3 options available) and the waitress brought beef and veggies and said they were out of cream of broccoli. Ended up getting 2 orders right to go boxes cuz the others in our party were already finished and we hadn't even got orders yet. Waitress apologized after she rolled her eyes at us and telling us that they were really packed with only 2 waitresses. So for 2 Lettuce sandwiches, French toast, childs spaghetti (didn't eat), chicken broccoli fettuccine and steak dinner (didn't even get to enjoy) for $70! Totally not worth it!!! Checked that off the list that we will NEVER go back. read more

Well, its sort of a bad sign when the server says, "I'd HIGHLY recommend NOT ordering the chicken soup today." I ate here for a family party. The service was friendly and - obviously - honest. It was quite slow, but we WERE in a large group. I ordered breakfast after checking this site and it was ok. The potatoes were oily and completely unseasoned. The omelet was better than the potatoes, bacon and avocado, but nothing I'd return for. My toast was yucky. Clearly stale bread covered in cheap margarine. But if you want a lot of food, the portions were quite large. My husband's grandma about died when she saw her chef's salad. That thing could've fed 4! Think Dennys-Gone-Wrong. read more

I'm a fan for one thing from this restaurant - if you like good old fashioned American meat plat breakfast, Jim's is your place. Don't particularly care for the rest of the menu and the coffee is exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant like this. The key is to understand what to order and what to avoid, stay with the breakfast menu any time of day and you'll be a fan too. Also, pancakes put IHOP to shame. read more

We went here somewhat as a joke. and now I really don't understand why people go here. The food is horrible.

Great service. I had a chocolate milk and the clubhouse sandwich. It was the juiciest sandwich.

I like Jim's! The service is always great, and the servers always have a good attitude. The food is old school home cookin. High calorie goodness! This is a diner, don't come expecting healthy, tasteless food. Breakfast is probably the meal you'll want to have here (served all day.) read more

Yummy biscuits and gravy... here with the company for a breakfast meeting. Good and not to loud that we can have a conversation. Great service by our waitress. read more

Now befor I start I do work here! But I eat here to! Alway a big breakfast for a good price, typical diner coffie, nothing fancy or over are heads to make simple breakfast, lunch and dinner served any time! But some prroblems! I'm honest and up front you want great service ask for page or jennessa! Amazing people. Always a predictable special for a plate during the week for the most part, but if I'm working the morning I try to shake things up like a garlic swiss burger. We do try hard to make all special requests. But this is my spot even befor woking here for breakfast. The jims plate is my go to. Lot of food for a good price read more

Oil was old. The chicken fried streak had bits of bone and gristle. Everything that touched the oil tasted bad. Ordered scones and they were not fully cooked three separate times. Won't be going back even if paid to go. read more

Service was fine, the food made me and everyone I went with sick. I got the pastrami cheeseburger which was about 20% meat and 80% fat. I was pulling bits of fat from my mouth with every bite, and the hamburger was badly burnt. That was just MY experience; my friends had their own problems. Please, avoid this place. No one deserves to go through what we did... read more

The WORST experience I've ever had. Ordered a skillet that came out luke warm(I've never sent a plate back..).sent it back with the burnt toast to have the same plate returned 2 min later saying it was remade? Hash browns, sausage and bacon...doubt it was remade. And the over medium eggs came out barely done this time with the white oozing out(I literally almost threw up). Service was terrible. On top of it, Donna S.the waitress could't have been less friendly and careless. The 2nd time as she walked away, asked if it was better(by this point I so upset I lost my appetite.) I told her No, but I didn't want anything else, I'll make do. She then TAKES my plate from under me with my fork in hand attempting to try and eat it?? I wasn't about to ask her to give it back. I was embarrassed for her!. I was so taken back by the fact she even did that. I am BLOWN away at the service & the food. It looked and felt like it had been sitting under a heating lamp for a few hours. Wish I could give zero stars. :-( read more

I love this place. The food is good, the staff are very friendly, and the restaurant is clean as well. We come here quite often. I like the fact that it is locally owned as well. If you like places like Denny's or IHOP, try Jims. read more

I LOVE Jim's! They always have great waiters and waitresses and the cowboy Jim's breakfast is always good. Try the pancakes. They make the perfect pancake. Jim's is everything you want in a diner- great breakfast food all day and fun servers! read more

Tons of varieties of food. Never busy. Really like this place. Kindof like Denny's but less busy and better food. read more

The service here is about as friendly as it gets but the food wasn't great. It wasn't terrible but it definitely was not great. The meat had really great flavor but was a bit tough. This place has a lot of potential but in my opinion, they need a little better quality food and then I'll definitely come back more often. read more

Food is decent: not the greatest but it's cheap. Service is wonderful. Very friendly ladies that helped us have an enjoyable breakfast. I probably won't eat here again just because I would like to find tastier breakfast options. read more

VERY REASONABLE Prices -- GOOD OLD FASHIONED food and selection; House made soups; just plain old comfort food-- and if Terry (Hostess) and Shaelyn (Server) are on, you are guaranteed to have a GOOD TIME at Jim's -- Just good old fashioned diner food; read more

You really can't go wrong with what you order here. I've had a variety of things and always find something I like. Usually I have a favorite thing at every restaurant, but its so hard to choose here. Great place to take your family and has a nice welcoming feel. read more

Your typical all-American diner. You can get breakfast anytime, the coffee is always on, and the service is always friendly. This place is always packed! read more

I've been to Jim's a few times and I like what I get. It's your good ol' breakfast joint. No frills and nothing fancy, just downright good eggs, pancakes, hash browns kind of place. Even when it seems busy, we have been seated fairly quickly. The staff has been nice and it's well-priced in my book. read more

Absolutely terrible. We waited 80 minutes on a weeknight for two entrees (no appetizers or sides). The place was not busy. Both the entrees were marked as "Jim's special" so it should be something they cook all the time. My dish was supposed to have pork and instead had chicken. They offered a redo but I was not waiting 80 minutes again. Both of the dishes were below average and there wasn't that much food for the price. The service was excellent and I feel bad that such a great, attentive waitress worked at a restaurant where such horrible food was served. I wasn't expecting much...just something like Denny's or IHOP...but Jim's couldn't even live up to that. read more

This place really shines with the breakfast foods. The portion sizes are huge and I usually substitute the toast/pancakes for a scone. My go-to's are the steak and eggs, and marinated pork breakfast. Their home-style potatoes are a great alternative to traditional hash browns. I didn't care for their corned beef hash or their vegetable soup (tasted canned). All in all, one of my favorite local diners. read more

If you come in the morning they have a fun atmosphere and it's pretty laid back, going during the day isn't great. Prices are a little hefty for what you get and specialty orders are impossible, no one knows how to do them. Fish was a bit dry. Not horrid, but there is other food elsewhere. read more

This is so friendly restaurants, good servers! I love few of servers that too friendly to us. The food is so freaking good!!!!! I def will go there often every monthly! This restaurant are also very cleaned! read more

Went to Jim's for brunch and it was great. Good, fast service. Very yummy breakfast. Nice environment. Way better then dennys or ihop!

Great food and good quality! I can't eat at another 24 hr cafe any more. Love the home style potatoes with breakfast and they let be sub a scone for my pancakes! Yum! read more

My favorite comfort food restaurant! Everything I have tried has been excellent. Lots of food at affordable prices! Their Mexican food is better than the Mexican restaurant next door! Plenty of seating with excellent service. read more

My first, and probably last, time... The food was fine, but the service was awful. I'm a server, and I understand how it can be when it's busy, but when I was there it wasn't busy at all. I asked for a water and a milkshake (I like to start with dessert) and my water never came. When my food came out, the server put it on the table and walked off. It wasn't until I was practically done with my food that she came around and asked how I was. So I asked, again, if I could get a water. She took another maybe 5 minutes to bring me my water. I was finished eating at this point. Normally I'm not one to complain, but service like this shouldn't be a thing. Not impressed, Jim's. read more

Contrary to the "expert foodie" opinions heretofore expressed, my hub and I found the service friendly, food delicious (try the marinated pork!) and prices very reasonable. We did not go expecting gourmet food, nor greasy spoon fare...what we got was very much in line with 'Family dining', and was better than most! People very friendly! We would go again. Let's keep our expectations applicable- people are generally doing the best they can!!! read more
