I always enjoy the Fresh Smells of baked bread in here. I know I looked super greedy eating my sandwich lol. The bread is just so soft and firm at the same time. I had the veggie, because I am not much of a meat eater. The avocado spread and oregano seasonings makes me a happy customer every time. We were just in a bind last minute for July 4th, and they stepped in and helped us tremendously to feed our staff working hard in the heat. I love Jimmy Johns to begin with, their bread bring me joy and happiness the taste is great and it's always soft and fluffy that consistency and persistence is what I really like about it. Sandwiches are tasty when properly prepared but be warned that probably won't happen here at lunch. This place is a cluster where they're yelling out sandwiches with all different toppings and folks are trying to figure out if this "roast beef with mustard" is theirs or one of the 50 others crammed into the small waiting area. Don't worry, that sandwich is most likely destined to end up in the hands of someone who ordered a ham with mayo or some other totally different order. JJ's has great sandwiches but they need to get their act together at this location. Getting it to go? To me, the best thing about this place is the SUPER fast delivery. I've ordered quite a few sandwiches from this spot. Most recently, I ordered the unwich. It was okay. Recently, I ordered the Vito for lunch. The picture of the sandwich was amazing. What arrived was quite different. It was more like a flattened version of the picture on the menu. Maybe that line worked back in 1983 when the company was founded, but today when someone says "gourmet", I'm expecting some premium ingredients. I found none of that at Jimmy's. The sandwiches at this shop are made with the same ingredients that you'll find in any other sandwich shop. I ordered the Turkey Tom, which consisted of sliced turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, and Dijon mustard. According to the menu, the turkey is freshly sliced daily. Big whoop! The sandwich was a decent size (8 inches), yet I still felt hungry after I finished eating because of the measly toppings. My sandwich was inexpensive ($5.85), but it would have definitely been nice to see some combo options or at least get a pickle with my sandwich. Jimmy's motto is "subs so fast you'll freak." While I'll admit that I got my sandwich quickly, it definitely wasn't prepared at record speed. With its tiny space and limited seating, this Jimmy John's location is destined to do most of its business through take out orders and delivery. I went to place my order today and the kid behind the register walked away. I literally had to ask him to take my order. What was supposed to be a turkey sandwich with onions, cheese, tomato, and no lettuce, ended up being bread with cheese and tomato! I was actually very impressed. This shop changed my mind about the brand. Just last week, I was telling my son how I was not a fan of this store - maybe I had gone to the wrong one. I stumbled across this sandwich shop, after entering another sandwich shop a few doors away and not impressed by the workers there - I left. I enter JJs and I asked the young lady at the register how long they had been open - she tells me about a few weeks. Nice! I had the #9 Italian Night Club. It was right on time and delicious and for UNDER $7! The only issue that I had is that the guy on the line was chewing gum. Initially, I thought I was seeing things, but it was confirmed when the guy behind me muttered under his breath "he shouldn't be chewing gum" (he turn around and left out of the store). I decided the still get my sandwich BUT I made a phone call to the store to tell a manager what had occurred - he stated that he would handle it. This restaurant used to be one of my favorites it's gone from best to worst. I have been ordering from this store for quite some time. I placed an order for delivery today and the driver called me and informed me that they do not deliver to 6th and E street NW. The store person Allen was very rude and had me placed on hold for several minutes claiming the store was very busy. when I arrived at the store a few minutes later it was completely empty. Won't be ordering from this particular Jimmy Johns. Called customer service and they informed me that I was in the delivery area and they said a manager would respond to me but never received any communication from the manager. read more

Since when did this start? I've been ordering and having subs delivered to my job for the past two years they've been open and now it's an issue. I was just informed today (June 7 2016) by the Manager of this establishment that they no longer deliver to my place of work. This is very interesting since I and other various people at my job have been ordering from this Jimmy John's (located at 1208 G St NW in Washington DC) since it opened in 2014. The "No Longer Deliver There" excuse was tied to a very very poor explanation. The explanation from the current manager (if that was the manager that I spoke to over the phone) was that my building that I work in is outside of their delivery area and that the delivery persons where not supposed to deliver here and that they made the deliveries for the tips (side note, my job is literally 3-4 blocks away or 0.3 miles from Jimmy John's). So this tells me that management did not have a handle on its delivery personal or that management turned a blind eye to the actions of its delivery people. Come on this building has been ordering from that location since 2014 and now two years later...management is just stepping up to say "No you guys cant deliver to a building 3 blocks away?" I don't usually do third party hearsay but one of the delivery guys did say if they dont get tipped then they blackball the number tied to that building. read more

The only reason this location receives a 3 is because it took much longer to make my sandwich than is normal for a Jimmy Johns. Do not come here during weekday lunch hour. Regardless if it is busy or empty the service is terrible, the sandwiches are made with no care or regard, and depending on the day of the week, the meat just isn't that fresh. Jimmy John's never fails to satisfy. I probably prefer Potbelly's sandwiches at the end of the day. The bread is chewier and more flavorful, and the toppings better. But Jimmy John's does a very good sub. I prefer the Vito, though you really can't go wrong with any of them. The best part is they are absolute speed demons. Let me start by saying that for cold subs, hands down JJ's is the best. I frequent them often. Particularly this store. Tonight however things did not go as usual. I walked in and the guy at the register had his back turned to the door and another employee had to tell him to turn around to take my order. I work in the service industry and not being attentive is a huge red flag for anybody who deals with customers. After placing my order and paying, I asked for my sandwich to be cut in half. Never got done. No a big deal I have knives at home. As I stood at the other counter to receive my sub, I noticed a few hotel pans with the deli meats sitting out. I also noticed that they were sweating. I am a Chef who handles all manners food on a daily basis. When things that are supposed to be kept cool are not kept cool after a while they sweat. They almost forgot my pickle. I got home and it was so poorly wrapped that the juice spilled out and it got all over the inside of my backpack. It seemed like one of the employees were in a hurry to break down and go home. I understand the store closed at 9, but always lean towards the side of service. read more
