The meat was flavorful, substantial, and tasted like an actual lamb gyro. I recently took my wife to Apollo and talked her into trying the gyro because I remembered it so fondly. I was honestly embarrassed when it arrived. The meat was awful--an extremely processed, generic-tasting product that bore little resemblance to the lamb gyro I remember. It was basically pita bread wrapped around something that tasted like cheap lunch meat. I don't expect a fast-food restaurant to be gourmet, but a Greek-owned restaurant should be able to make a decent gyro. This wasn't merely mediocre; it was genuinely unpleasant. I have a lot of affection for what Apollo Burger used to be, which is probably why this disappointed me so much. Unfortunately, I won't be ordering the gyro again.
