This is my FAV BBQ place! I get the same thing every time which is the smoked turkey salad! You don't even have to be a salad eater to LOVE their salads. The turkey is smoked to perfection, the croutons are soft and salty, the bacon is super thick and crunchy, and the cheese is grated super thick! Did I mention they give you 3 dressing cups? Jim N Nick's provided us with a very yummy rehearsal dinner! They arrived early and had everything set up within a brief amount of time. The set-up person was friendly and very good at her job! Hot foods were hot, cold foods were cold. Our 80 guests raved about the bar-b-que, mac and cheese, and the banana pudding! Tea, cheese biscuits, all paper products and plastic cutlery came with the meal. The office catering staff were very helpful and professional! We had guests with food allergies, vegetarian/vegan, and gluten free. Sunny and Danielle in the office helped us figure out what foods would work with our variety of guests. We (and the guests) were all very happy knowing they would be able to eat freely and comfortably. The prices were very reasonable. The Jim N Nick's website is easy to navigate through, and we were able to have a lot of information about foods and costs before we even spoke with the catering department. So we have been supporting this location through Covid and the insane prices ordering $100.00 meals everytime we went. So recently it seems that this location has changed and the food has not been at times edible. The brisket we ordered was very heavy on the rub making my wife unwell. So we called and they replaced the order with a replacement. Well we took a break from eating there for a while after being told that they were also a training facility with new cooks and what not. Well we decided to give them another try and ordered the family feast brisket dinner at about $62.00 including a slice of pie. We get home to discover that they again were heavy on the rub we were so hungry we decided to cut the rub and the fat off and try it. Mistake.! It was so salty my wife became very unwell about 2 am after eating one slice and I had two but seemed ok. Well I called J and N to explain and ask why does this keep happening in which management was very accommodating in making it right. But we didn't want the brisket so we at the suggestion of management got ribs and onion rings. So here's the part that solidified my money and business being taken elsewhere!! When we returned to pick up the ribs and onion rings with the uneaten portion of the brisket for management to witness the heavy rub on the meat for future training is what we were told. The food was cold and looked like it was taken off of customers plates that were done eating. The reason for my assessment is because one of the ribs had a little potato salad on it which I didn't order and the onion rings were soggy and salty. For an order to have been just prepared for pickup it sure seemed like this was food that had been sitting for some time. To say I'm disappointed in J and N is an understatement. We have eaten with Jim N Nicks since the first one opened in Riverchase many years ago. It got better and better over the years. Then it was bought out by a corporation and started the slow decent downhill. We recently went to the one on 280 and were shocked to see the sterile remodeling. Gone were many of the booths where you could meet for business, friends, etc. The food too had gradually become like a chain. The french fries are terrible. You cannot order a salad without the meat. Most places allow you to order a salad and if you want, add a topping. So sad to see our former locally owned place go down. read more

I absolutely love there salads! I chose the Pig in the Garden, but instead of pork I got smoked chicken. The portion size is just right and their homemade ranch dressing is Yum-O! I ordered my daughter the kids cheeseburger and a side of fruit ( you can chose any side for the kids meal). She really enjoyed it and ate every bit of it. This is going to hurt a little... I love Jim n Nicks BBQ but tonight was not a good night. Let's start with the good. The sweet tea and crushed ice are amazing! The Bbq Pork Sandwich was fantastic, piled high with meat! The sauce is always amazing! So why not a five star? Well I really don't mind paying $15 for a solid BBQ sandwich, fries and drink, and usually it's worth it - not only for the food but the service. Unfortunately tonight, I asked for crispy fries like I always do and normally they go out of their way to make sure they are crispy. The fries were limp, cold and in a to go box and I felt like they had been sitting for a while. It was a sad half empty box of fries. I know this location is slammed most of the time and they want to be fast, which they were, but they completely ignored my request and that was disappointing as I expect to pay a little more at Jim n Nicks, but normally it is worth it. Normally they give extra effort to make sure the customer has a good experience, but tonight they just didn't seem to care. Also I asked for a couple extra sauces and they gave me one. Again not the expert customer service I am used to with this chain. The drinks were strong, and the cheese biscuit appetizer was good. It took ~30 minutes to get our food, and it was on the cool side of warm. The loaded mac-and-cheese had good flavor, but not hot nor an actual integrated dish. Instead, it was pulled pork placed on top of mac-and-cheese. This chain has been a staple in the community where most BBQ lovers suggest to go with visitors to the area.
