Oil change was expensive but the service was good. They claimed that my transmission fluid is black and with odors -- that need a bad flush . Well, actually I just had it flushed. Funny they didn't know that I work in a shop and in fact all I need to do is to open the hood and check it out myself - don't worry, it's still pink and fresh. I used to work there for a couple years in junior college not that long ago. As in every other line of work, the whole company can not be judged by one visit from an angry customer, and generally angry customers write reviews far more than happy ones do. No matter where you go, 99% of the time, shops will present you with additional service recommendations. Most people think they are rip off artists and are ALWAYS selling unnecessary services. Yes, Jiffy Lube is there to turn a profit, and that can not be done on oil changes alone. BUT, these are based on the severe service recommendations from the owners manual in YOUR glove compartment. If you are skeptical about trusting a stranger, do your own homework, read your own manual and determine what you have and have not serviced. By the way, 90% of us DO fall into the "severe service" maintenance schedule. Last note, you always want your best tires up front, so if the manager tells you that you don't need a rotation, look at the tread on the front and rear tires for comparison before calling them a liar. This store is generally slow, so they usually don't have very many employees there at any given time. From my time there in 05-06 there was one bad manager and one bad employee, of the variety that Matthew had mentioned, but they were gone within a couple months. The Poway manager's name is Josh, he is a good guy, has been there for over 3 years now, and he still seems to have a stand up crew. Best time to go: weekdays (not lunch time), and Sundays. If Josh is there, tell him Mike advised you to go there. Side notes: If you have NEVER had your transmission fluid flushed and you have over 100k miles on it, then DON'T do it. The reason is: If you don't change it on the recommended schedule, the fluid begins to break down chemically, coating your internal components in a varnish type material. Once you flush it, it strips away this varnish build up which has literally become a part of your transmission by this point, this can be avoided by actually reading your manual and following the maintenance recommendations. Also, Engine Oil Flushes are a bad idea if you have any leaks, or are over 150k miles. read more

The new manager is awesome. On Saturday I was frantic and called them because I was leaking oil from my engine. The new manager told me to come by and he took a look. It was just my oil plug. He replaced my oil plug (for free) and even topped off my fluids. I was so relieved. He was honest, kind to me and professional. I will be a Customer for life!! read more

Here is example of how good customer service and business practices makes a difference. I started my Saturday trying to nail down a place to get a synthetic oil change for a decent price. I first went to Valvoline on Carmel Mountain Drive and was told my car took 8 quarts of only synthetic oil and was going to charge me way too much. Then I went to the other Valvoline on Bernardo Center Drive and ask if they could do better. I was told nope because all Valvoline around this area were connected. Ok Thank You! I went home called Evan's Tire in Rancho Peñasquitos and as soon as I explained my experience was told ok what kind of car do you have and I mentioned I have a BMW the guy said "Yeah no specials for that and said it would be about 10 dollars more than Valvoline. Okay Thank you Goodbye. Almost giving in and going back to Valvoline I called Jiffy Lube in Poway. The guy who answered gave me a very fair price and mentioned the online special. Also after mentioning my car model the guy told me BTW your car take 6.5 quarts of oil not 8. So I rush over. The staff were young friendly people super respectful and professional. The place was immaculate and not crowded. 15 minutes later later my car was done. Air filter and tire pressure checked. All fluids topped off and wind shield cleaned. I was walked back to my car by a very nice young gentleman. I left feeling like wow! If more businesses were this professional and caring they would be so successful. I will always go back there and let everyone I know to go with Jiffy Lube in Poway. Not sure if all Jiffy Lubes have this kind of customer service but this one is a winner. read more

Zero stars! I normally go to the Jiffy Lube in the Convoy area and they are always quick, friendly, and helpful. This place was the exact opposite. Took almost a half hour to check me in and there was only one other car in front of me. Then the "10 minutes" the oil change was going to take actually took another half hour. Poor customer service is an understatement for these guys. I would not recommend coming here unless you have to. Wasted my whole lunch waiting for these fools!! read more

The grease monkeys working here.. Try to upsell you on oil you don't need.. And have little or no customer service skills... We paid for the signature service and they didn't clean the windows or vacuum the carpets... I've had good experience with jiffy lube in the past.. But not at this one... As I was checking out after having my oil changed, I was told that one of my rear brake lights was out and that it could be replaced for $12.99 which I agreed to. Upon finishing my checkout, the technician came to the front desk and notified the man that was helping me (possibly he's the manager since he has been the one who has helped me each time previously) that the light was actually only loose and was now working after she tightened it. The man said ok and he offered to walk me out to my car. I asked about being charged for the light since it now did not need to be replaced. He stated that they would go ahead and change it anyways since I had already paid for it. I told him I did not want it to be replaced since it was working but instead I would like a refund. He said he could do that but it would probably take about 15 or 20 min to refund my money because of their system if I wanted to wait. I said yes and according to my two receipts it took 6 minutes. I know it was only $13 but I was shocked by the employee's willingness to 1st charge me for a service that he was not going to carry out, 2nd replace a part that was not broken and then 3rd not offer me a refund but instead give me an excuse when I asked for one. I feel this is wrong on so many levels of good business practice. Unfortunately it is this type of service that gives mechanics a bad rap. read more

I used Jiffy Lube for the first time for my Acura. Josh, the manager at the Poway location was excellent. I tried to change oil myself and in the process messed up the oil drain plug. Today was the first time I met a member of their staff who was firm and authoritative with me, telling me what I needed and how often I needed to come in (on the dot!) and it seemed a bother to have my business with the extra phone call she now had to make. Beware Yelp users. I took time from my busy day to write a fair review of Jiffy Lube. I am a real consumer and had something that I thought that others would like to hear. I feel it was a fair and honest review. The review was on Yelp initiallly but when I checked back it was taken off. I did get a call from a heavily accented person late in the evening who said they were from Jiffy Lube. I declined to talk to them because I was very tired. Did this have something to do with the review being taken off? Maybe So, the reviews you see are being edited. Maybe the bad ones come off? This makes me negative on Yelp. I have been coming to this location for over 10 years. There are a couple places closer to my home, but I've always had good service here so I keep coming back. The staff often changes, but whoever services me is always professional and polite. With the COVID-19 regulations, I simply stayed in my car while the men performed the oil change and other basic services...even cleaned my windows for me. Larry was professional as was his helper. He accepted the coupon I brought in, too! Larry suggested that I needed a new air filter and he actually showed the dirty one to me so that I understood that I did need this part replaced. Since I was sitting in my car, I could actually see that they removed this dirty filter in front of me. They offered a couple other services, which I declined, but I did not feel extra pressure for these services. I will continue to return to this location for oil changes and other minor services. read more

We have been going to this Jiffy Lube for a few years for three of our cars. My daughter recently went there for a simple oil change. They charged her $68.00. Too much. They got her to upgrade the oil (which was not needed) and didn't mention that there were $15 coupons out there that she could take advanatage of. Instead they took advanatge of her. Went back a few days later to talk with the person in charge. I explained that we've been coming here for a few years and told him that she should have been treated better. He didn't agree and all he said, "well she did sign the form which meant she agreed", That was not the answer I was looking for. So we won't be doing our business there anymore. An oil change costing $440!!!! Went in for a simple oil change and came out with a clutch failure. Car could not be driven and had to be towed. Manager Josh takes no responsibility and I am out $440. . When you mix speedy service with inexperienced technicians surrounding your car, you get errors. The scary thing about Jiffy lube, is the admission of the repair shop having to fix their errors. Do not recommend Poway Jiffy lube to work on your car!!
